They tried to make it a big reveal that he was Khan except the nu-trek crew doesn't even know who Khan is and didnt have the previous history from the TV show like the OG crew so when he says KHAAAAANN inside the brig the correct response would be "...who?"
Into darkness was just shit from top to bottom. Carol Marcus, human torpedoes, evil robocop, militarized starfleet, da super excelsior, Khan and spock having a superhero punch up, le WHAT IF THIS TIME IT WAS KIRK WHO FAKE DIED - all of it was complete fricking shit except Alice Eve's tight body.
Benicio del toro was the original actor they wanted but I think they got cold feet when people IMMEDIATELY called that this was going to be a banal remake. Technically Data’s father should be Indian as well since he has the same name

The fake-out death was really unnecessary. It didn't hit the same way the original movie did and was just too contrived, even with the switch.
Cumberbatch Khan was already a great foil to both Kirk and Spock, they should have done a twist by not doing it all.
It’s a movie that tries to pass its series of plot twists off as an actual plot, but at no point is there any actual structure story that actually happens. It’s impressive that the same people still run Hollywood
Del toro could’ve backed out due to wolfman being the perceived bigger project for him. But I wonder how much of it was executives telling them it had to be a khan movie, because as much as I like Beyond I feel that the reason they crashed the enterprise in it was because Star Trek three was the one they crashed the enterprise in and remember how the initial “leaks” for the next movie had them traveling back in time to have Kirk meet his dad for some reason, which obviously is another “like poetry it rhymes” with Trek 4 having a time travel plot
The story is Khan noonian soong and just Noonian Soong got their names from some Indian dude that rodenberry met during WWII and he named both characters that in hopes of him trying to get back into contact. I wouldn’t be surprised if the original plan for Data’s father to be Japanese though, but as much as I find Spiner to be an ass he was great in those roles
>redeems your son
DO NOT REDEEM HIM
>I'm redeeming at you Kahn. I'm redeeming at the superior intellect.
Frick you anon I laughed against my will
Transmitting the gift card code now, Khan
I sneeded
keked, amazing thread
From my designated streets, I shit at thee
>Here's that man named "Kahn Singh" I was telling you about
Why didn't they just hire a brown actor?
The brown actors were already under contract to play Victorian-era Englishmen.
Mexicans are brown
They were trying to make it less obvious they were gonna rip off WoK
>Movie about Khan
>Thinking it won't be a Wrath of Khan remake
Nobody thought that.

They fricking dropped the ball not getting the guy who played Kumar to do this.

>Proceeds to make a cheap rip-off
Lmao what

The guy's name was Kim Noonien Singh. Khan was Khan Noonien Singh. Data's dad was Noonien Soong.
>First name is Muslim, last name is Sikh
He did the needful.
SHOW BOB AND VAGIN
Why didn’t they give him a turban
