> Jaime and Jenny Kord (Ted's daughter) are going through his old stuff

>Jaime confronted by Peacemaker
>He tells Jaime how he saw him save the day and thinks he has a lot of potential
>Jamie is confused to who he is but Peacemaker interrupts saying he needs a mentor who can take him under his wing
>It ends with Peacemaker walking away and Jaime asking the Scarab if that was Captain America he just met
but is the movie good
frick naw
It has the vibes of Shazam 1 but with Latinos. It's not that unique but was really fun and enjoyable. I'm gonna assume it's going to get around a 70% critics wise and 80% Audience score.
Okay but how cringe was it? I am a Hispanic bit I can't believe that they thought having George Lopez in the movie would mean more ticket sales. Talk about box office poison with that guy.
There's some cringe stuff with Lopez when he overacts in certain scenes but he was mostly tolerable.
>I can't believe that they thought having George Lopez in the movie would mean more ticket sales
He is a household name, the movie certainly benefits from having someone who’s both Latino and has some level name recognisability.
>the movie certainly benefits from having someone who’s both Latino and has some level name recognisability.
They already had that with the star, Xolo got pretty popular just from doing Cobra Kai tbh.
Kinda sucks this was his first big breakout film role, I feel like it's probably going to really hurt his career and he seems pretty talented when he's working with decent material.
Fellow Hispanic here.
If you want to go with a household Latino name that would actually have put asses in seats then you go with a national treasure like Danny Frickin' Trejo
You could have even made him be the one in the spoiler about Goldstar Inc make the joke saying, 'Hey isn't that Green Lantern?' Would have gone over better than the fricking batman fascist line.
His new show might be one of the worst comedies I’ve ever seen. It would come on after jeopardy and I’d always watch the first five minutes just to piss myself off
looks like a toku movie
And that’s a good thing
>It has the vibes of Shazam 1
Aces
>but with Latinos.
Like are you saying it's a lot of hamfisted chicano culture stuff? Or the people in it just happen to be brown
It' bad. Like it looks really cheaply made. Wait for when it comes out on streaming.
I suppose they would introduce Booster Gold.
from the trailer it looks like shit
>I suppose they would introduce Booster Gold.
What do you think Goldstar Inc. is?
>Gunn still trying to force Mememaker
Ugh.
No need to force him because a version of Peacemaker was also in Jaime's original run.
It was nothing like the original version, or like Gunn's version, but it was Peacemaker.
>Peacemaker’s own show was super popular
>Waaaahhhh it’s “forced”
>Peacemaker’s own show was super popular
And it was universally liked.
by all the paid shill who say they watched it.
>0.6M
>Over 4 days
>Premiere so it only goes down from that
Loooool.
For comparison, didn't the owl trash get like 0.3M for the finale in 1 day? So with 4 it shouldn't have had a difficult time to reach 0.6M.
I wouldn't call that popular. Gravity Falls getting 4M on the premiere, then maintaining 1-2 when moved to the paid channel, that was popular.
This is a literal who.
We're talking about Blue Beetle, not Owl House. Keep up, moron.
>"For comparison"

DC has no real normies fans, they will literally not know who Booster Gold is.
That’s what all those “Easter eggs and references” YouTube videos are for.
Suddenly, lots of people are going to start pretending they know and care about Booster
>Jaime asking the Scarab if that was Captain America he just met
>DC directors hate DC Comics so much that they would rather be writing Marvel characters
It's a joke anon.
The fact that DC directors have to reference Marvel characters in their own movies shows how desperate they are.
Second time they're done that this year too.
>Shazam: Oooh, "The Avengers Socitey"! I like that name for some reason
It's kinda a take that for name dropping Batman and Superman in Eternals.
........Yeah. Take that.
Got you good, huh Marvel...?
Is it? I didn't watch Eternals so I've no idea the context of that, but the joke in Blue Beetle is that no one knows Peacemaker so he thinks he's Captain America.
>Is it?
I honestly very much doubt it.
it's not that serious, autist
I'm done with Gunn
whens mahvels
>peacemaker
Dude has go away heat
For how many years now has DC been trying to push teenage Hispanic Blue Beetle instead of the real one
>real one
I fricking love how Ted Kord fanboys pretend like anybody gave a frick about him after the 80s when the Jaime Reyes version is basically the sole reason why Blue Beetle has experienced a resurgence in popularity. At the very least Reyes' power set is more interesting that DUDE GADGETS LMAO.
Ted kord has fanboys? From my end all three are completely fricking irrelevant. Jamie has a few forgettable comics appear4ances, and the brave and the bold cartoon guest visits. Most notably bleeze. Ted has his shit with gold, JLI and his untimely suicide, and Dan is more known as Owlman.
>Ted kord has fanboys?
A bunch, yeah, and they are massively butthurt over the fact that barely anybody gives a frick about him and that the only reason Blue Beetle is even remotely notable in modern comics is because of Jaime Reyes. It's doubly hilarious because their spiel of "TED IS DA REAL OG BLUE BEETLE" can be immediately disproven by pointing out that Reyes is actually more faithful to the original, Dan Garrett version who also got superhuman powers from a scarab as opposed to the Ted Kord version who was basically a regular dude with fancy gadgets.
I don't recall them EVER fighting. They certainly weren't here.
That was a shit test for movie marketing shills and lightweights who are more interested in fights than in the comics. Not that there's anything wrong with being a lightweight. Just know your role. You, of course caught it.
I mean Ted has been getting the shaft lately. It sucks that his most notable things have been JLI and Infinite Crisis. I remember being hyped hearing Brandon Routh would play him in Arrow. But then they changed him to Ray Palmer. And Kord Industries are only mentioned.
And I suppose I should be glad that Ray Palmer got a chance. After all what happened to Ted is going to happen to Ray when Ryan Choi gets his movie.
>Ted has his shit with gold, JLI and his untimely suicide
Damn. This board has changed a lot.
I’ve been here since day 1. This board loved Jaime’s run from 2006. People liked Ted to but were far more realistic( and embracing) about his role as a d-lister. There were never any fights between Ted and Jaime fans.
I'm sure co loved something, yup.
It's depressing that I understand completely that this is a legitimately hard to believe thing, but Blue Beetle threads back in the day were so fricking comfy.
the virgin GL fans vs the chad blue beetle fans
>popularity
They're both D-listers
WAH WHY DONT PEOPLE CARE ABOUT KNOCKOFF BATMAN
based costume. can't get past the word "beetle", though.
So Ted is likely alive just missing, probably stuck in the future
Why would you put your R-rated character in you family movie?
deadpool is gonna be in the mcu
the constant shilling of Peacemaker reminds me of back when Marvel overused Deadpool in the 2010's. That's the fastest way to get tired of a character.
>constant shilling
Don’t use words you don’t understand, anon.
Sorry if i referenced your job, homosexual.
>constant shilling of Peacemaker
t. hasn't read Jaime's original book
I know it's a meme but you've got to have Chris Pratt for Booster Gold right?
He's unironically a more appropriate choice for Booster Gold than him as Star Lord or Mario.
So is this technically the first DCU movie? And it came out before the final DCEU film somehow.
Gunn is keeping Gadot, Miller and probably Mamoa (if he can), so it's just a continuity mess, just like your comics!
> Miller
I don’t believe you
I feel like Gunn only said Ezra Miller could stay as a precaution since The Flash hadn't premiered at the time yet but now that the movie came out as one of the biggest box office bombs, definitely getting dropped. The only one whose still really pushing for Miller's inclusion is Andy Muschetti.
Exactly correct
Gunn said "we'll see" and Muschetti said he'd never direct a Flash movie without Miller
Well I think it's safe to say we've seen and Muschetti might not even stay on that Batman movie much less direct another Flash movie
Is Ted officially kill in this? A prior leak so Ted was MIA presumed dead
He's MIA, so he's obviously alive.
That’s what I figured, I just wanted to be sure his status was actually MIA
That Booster Gold credit pisses me off even if it's a lie. Knowing that he isn't i. the movie is already upsetting.
>Knowing that he isn't i. the movie is already upsetting.
Why would you want him in it? Jaime's first film is way too early to be bringing Booster into things, it's honestly already upsetting that they made Ted and his OC family such a big part of the movie instead of letting the Ted stuff be a lingering background influence like it was in the early days of Jaime's comics.
Because the comics I read Booster played a role in making Jaime into the hero he is. He's the one who sought him out after Ted got killed. He and Batman activated the Scarab.
Okay I guess that's fair, but honestly we were never going to get anything close to his Infinite Crisis origin, so that's kind of out the window right off the bat. And after that Booster didn't really show up for any of Jaime's first outings, it was only after he'd started to establish himself a bit that he showed back up to get involved with him more directly. Personally I really preferred how they had Jaime have to kind of figure shit out for himself when it came to looking into Ted's background and trying to make heads or tails of the scarab.
did they actually shoot this on imax?? wasnt this originally a streaming movie
It was optimized for Imax screens
how?
>Ted and Booster movie might actually happen
I'm now considering watching this generic capeshit just for the chance I might get the Blue Beetle and Booster Gold movie I never thought in a million years would happen.
hes probably gonna be in the booster gold show
Is Ted’s daughter the Brazilian girl?
I guess we’re gonna see him in the future
Duhh? Gunn announced his tv show months ago.
I guess this probably means that Shazam and Beetle will be part of Gunn's CU.
BB almost definitely, Shazam not a chance in hell.
I don't see them doing Shaz again, it's too soon.
Trying to figure out the possible timeline of the DCU through Ted and Booster being around in the 90's but here's what I came up with so far
>Considering Gunn is doing Hawkgirl and Mr T. that means the JSA probably exist to a certain degree
>Ted and somehow Booster were heroes around the 90's and possibly 2000's
>Legacy isn't going to be an origin story so Clark will be same age as Corenswet meaning he could be on year 3-10ish
>Batman and Son is the plot of Brave and The Bold meaning Bruce would have had to have been Batman for at least 10 years already considering Dick would already be Nightwing
It's a little confusing but I think it could work
>It's old documents from the 90's about a company called Goldstar Inc. signed by Michael "Booster" Carter
So Booster's gonna be like 60 years old whenever he shows up? Ew.
Been thinking about that to but something interesting was that Gunn used the Johns run as a source of inspiration for the Booster show and not the original 80's one. My hunch is that Booster will be doing time travel shenanigans this whole time and eventually arrive to present day DC. Which could put him at anymore between his late 20's to possibly 40's.
Isn’t johns a major reason why all the DC movies came out the way they did? Why is he still being used as a source?
His Booster run is actually good though. The problem when it came to adapting his work to film plenty of other factors that only sort of involve him.
He's a literal time traveler anon, that's his whole thing. When he was an active hero means nothing in regards to how old he'll be in present day.
If they went with someone older I would have begged for Nathan Fillion, but they fricking wasted him in Suicide Squad.
hes also in superman legacy as guy gardner
Marvel exists in the DCU?
And DC exists in the Marvel Universe, this isn't a new thing.
>Maridueña: YEAH THIS IS A LATINX MOVIE ABOUT A LATINX SUPERHERO CELEBRATING THE LATINX CULTURE AND IF YOU RACIST CHUDS DON'T LIKE IT GO FRICK YOURSELVES
>also Maridueña: please don't diss my movie, give it a chance
