Even though the previous two Blue Beetles were C-Listers at best, Jaime's never really worked without that legacy connection. The 2006 Blue Beetle series is probably my favorite comic run of all time, and all the best parts were when he stopped being a scared kid in a super suit and started acting like the Blue Beetle.
A magical artifact, later retconned to be of alien origin, was locked in a big, magic museum that blew up in some wizard battle, and it landed in a Texas border town. He's the one who found it and it latched itself on his back

If Peacemaker doesn't show up to mentor Jaime at some point, either at the middle or the end or even the credits, than this movie deserves to not only flop but get 2% approval rating no RT.
