Its not all that hard to get renewed by netflix... Either way it is still just a shitty western anime clone, minus everything that makes anime good, and plus everything that makes western animation bad.
I need more anime to go full grindhouse samurai/kungfu theater
I dont know if they have the mindset to do it though since most of the edge is reserved to cute anime girls getting holes blown through them
what is it about this show that is drawing numbers? even my very normie brother in law recommended to me after watching the first episode, and he never watches anything animated
Thing, Japan hooks people in and then they find it has a pretty good story and is a visual treat to watch. Also I think the episodes actually being 40 minutes really lends to the idea that the story is a mature one.
You joke but the entire show is just BUILT for bleached porn, ESPECIALLY mizu, I haven't seen a show that opens itself to that fetish as organically as this one
While the show richly deserves a second season the fact is that almost all animated shows get two season regardless of how ass they are. One of the things that happens is that the second season of any animated project is exponentially cheaper than the first as the asset work from one season can be used for the second. So the margins on the second season are much higher.
The hapa woman who wrote is married a white guy and they wrote and directed it together. Its pretty much "our complicated relationship to my culture" the show. Recursion on samurai to western to samurai to western that Hollywood has been involved in for almost 70 years.
What's really amazing is that a woman wrote a story about seeing herself in a place women normally aren't and its not shit. Whatever is inside of Amber Noizumi''s brain needs to be injected into all other females before they are allowed to write anything.
>four or five seasons though >Michael Green >First Years canceled >Jack & Bobby canceled >Everwood canned >Heroes canceled >Kings canceled >american gods canceled >Raising Dion canceled

>minus everything that makes anime good
So, nothing?
Sexy women, sickass OP characters, that thing where the animation becomes all sketchy during intense fight scenes

How come everything slightly more detailed then bean face gets straw manned as "anime looking"
I haven't seen any anime have anything close to this
It's wild that the French are the only ones that do good-looking CG shows and whenever Japan tries it looks like ass.
That probably explains Lupin seeing as that's co produced by Japanese and French studios.
Mizu is for
Sparring.

It's very visually pleasing and I think it scratches that same brain itch that something like John Wick does.

this episode made me want to go see an actual japanese puppet show
As someone with 20 decades under his belt I can say this, trying to predict what people gravitate towards is genuinely impossible
you can theory craft all day and there's always gonna be a contradiction

it's a great testament to the superiority of the white man.
>she's strong because she's half white plus a blacksmith
>Literally a white man brought down the shogunate,
They wanted four or five seasons though, we'll see if it can manage to go the distance.
Hoping for a great season 2 with this and Nocturne.

She only needs to kill two more guys, that'd mean a lot of side quests.

If we get more kino moments like The Ronin And the Bride, For Whom the Bell Tolls and Fowler, I'm all for it.
