Has the general reception of that anime ever gotten better since it aired over a decade ago?

I don't believe it ever has to my knowledge. There may be the oddball fan that likes it, but generally most people are still sour on it. I find it kind of ridiculous since I don't think the anime is that different in quality to the series, but I think most will never get over it since it involves Stitch leaving Lilo. That was a plot that only existed in the dub until the sub decided to add it towards the end of the show.

Like PPGZ the show feels the need to add all these tiring anime cliches and cringeworthy comedy to constantly remind you that you're watching an anime, it feels like a weeb making a painfully generic series based on the shit they find hilarious because it's japanese

So it was originally AU stuff before being retconned to what the dub did?

Was there really a curiously attractive pink dragon in one ep, or was that just a promo still?

Looks like that comes from the Chinese one.

                >So it was originally AU stuff
To my knowledge yes, the first episode in the dub mentions Stitch acting up because he feels abandoned by Lilo, but the first episode in sub doesn't even mention anything like that. It's only towards the end of the final season that the anime sub has Stitch randomly reunite with Lilo for a single episode.

Was there really a curiously attractive pink dragon in one ep, or was that just a promo still?

I guess they decided to change the colors.

Depends on what anon's issue is. Like aesthetically she's inoffensive. She's Girl Stitch which isn't bad in itself. That's the problem I have with it, this character has no value other than being a pink clone that dates Stitch to make merch money. Not only is the writing of her episode bad, but she makes
permanent changes to the franchise while offering very little. If she were a one-off experiment that wasn't Stitch's girlfriend with a just as girly but a more unique design and purpose, I wouldn't have an issue with her. The only thing I mainly have a problem with design wise in regards to her femininity is her breasts, since I find them odd looking on small furry creatures. I think smooth chests or chest fur look better.

I don’t know why femoids still b***h and moan about female characters looking attractive (having eyelashes, boob fluff, being seductive). American cartoons won’t even give women breasts these days because male artists are afraid of being labeled as rapists. The only countries still putting out female characters like these are France (Balak) and Japan

I fricking wish cartoons were putting out characters like Peg Pete, Jessica Rabbit, Hello Nurse or Lola Bunny continuously. But they simply aren’t. feminist b***hing like this is what crippled the industry from ever doing anything besides dumb preschool cartoons and family guy knock-offs.

The fact men have to fry their brain cells just to see an attractive woman through porn is also likely one of the many reasons Zoomers are completely sexless as well. It used to be basic human biology that men preferred women who look good. Now we have to pretend stuff like obese hair dyed women are “high standard” when they clearly aren’t. Who the frick cares if they drew Stitch’s girlfriend like that. She’s a bloody alien not a human being. It’s like if someone criticized Spongebob’s parents for being brown sponges while he was yellow.

There’s a vast difference between normalizing stuff like rape and drawing a cartoon chick with big boobs or thighs. The people who conduct feminist based criticisms view both as the same thing because of isolated incidents like Spumco. Frick man

      >TDLR: Male Gaze criticism killed men

My issue is purely she's a lazier design than most the other experiments and doesn't communicate what she is just so she can be a Minnie to Stich's Mickey. A proper design probably still has her being pink and feminine but would also communicate she has singing powers.

Japan always had attractive character designs and still do, but there the ones suffering from a birthrate crisis so this has nothing to do with the prevalence of hot chicks in cartoons. People fry their brain on porn because our SOCIETY is alienating and expensive.

        >besides dumb preschool cartoons and family guy knock-offs
That's more a fault of companies trying to maximize profits in the most low effort way possible.

        >She’s a bloody alien not a human being.
That's kinda the point. Stitch himself is a little blue alien guy but his design is fairly neutral, while Angel is the one that needed the overtly feminine design that's just the main character gender swapped. The designs of the experiments in general are fairly neutral, it's just the girl ones they feel the need to have stick out.

Either that or they're soppy bastards who want to write romance with cute things and got the job after showing the execs their PG-rated 50 chapter MLP fanfic. On that note God damn it why does that pic have to be so ADORABLE FRICK.

      Anonymous

You're looking at this with scant evidence and you're still implicitly assuming it's the norm, even if you disagree with the execs.

Yeah but they aren't the only people who think like this, those execs. The tumblrina and you are questioning the execs who think 'this is sensible', but NOT going the step further and questioning their impled belief 'this is the norm'. You think it's the norm as well. You dislike it, but you still presume it's the norm.

You have scant evidence. Here's the simple answer:
It's not the norm. Some people wanted to write a cutesy pair of space koalas being in love because it would help sell toys, and they made one look vaguely more feminine to suggest they were female. There are some execs who think like in the pic, but not all.

Sorry, but it's a bit 'out there. Let's look at another example we often see.

We often see a Tumblrina say 'The Harry Potter films are antisemitic because of the big nosed greedy goblins and the Star of David on the floor of the bank they work in!' You know, in WOKE HOLLYWOOD.

I wanna shou at them, like Don't you REALISE that there are far right morons who agree, and think 'Yes, she's telling us the truth about israelites!'?

You have scant evidence. Here's the simple answer:
The Goblin = israelite stereotype appeared in the 1500s or so, worked its way into movies and people missed the connotations. JK Rowling designed the goblins completely differently in the books and a lot of the movie design is beyond her control. The Star of David is the Star of Australia when it was 6 sided due to having 6 states instead of 7 like now. There is no antisemitism.

      And that's israelites saying that.

Yes, as it always should be. I hate how modern female characters don't have eyelashes so it's hard to tell them apart from the men characters design-wise. Stop trying to subvert simple design rules you snivelling c**t.

Bland as hell, none of the kino feels, and it's obvious and annoying when they try for them. It's like their family lives are shit, so they have to make up things that normal families do, but it's "off" because they have no experience with it themselves.

The content of the show itself is what they care about, regardless of whether the character is a boy or a girl. Was the Wild Thornberries a girls' show? Are you under the impression that young boys thought the main character was s dude with pigtails?

They literally said Powerpuff Girls, at least don’t asspull and ignore what’s being said if you wanna keep being moronic.

Also yeah, most kids I knew absolutely watched the original show growing up, boys and girls alike. It was sick. https://youtube.com/watch?v=67flFO6AtDg&pp=ygUUYnV0dGVyY3VwIG1vam8gY2FuZHk%3D

Unambiguous genders is a feature of design as the animals are anthropomorphic and we want to relate to them as we see ourselves. In the wild, there isn't much observable difference between male and females most of the time. What is "feminine" is always through the lense of what is human female and femininity is a human construct. To make that less innate and forward in the design like what happened in Bluey, there is a gender related confusion that occurs. A conservative show for kids from a network that promises content that won't challenge conservative notions, gender included, would likely be avoided with design choices like these.

I tried watching this and couldn't make it through the first episode. Not because of the art style (yeah, it's a direct ripoff of Bluey, but what children's cartoon isn't based on a previous one's style?) or the supposed politics in it (I didn't get that far into it to find out if there was an agenda or not.)

No, what caused me to hit the off button were the voices. This was some of the WORST voice-acting I'd heard. Loud, way too fast-paced, and over-emoted like the entire cast was doing coke.

A shame really, because the art is kinda cute and we could always use another NONdysfunctional family cartoon. But I'm afraid this won't make it.

      Anonymous

      >or the supposed politics in it (I didn't get that far into it to find out if there was an agenda or not.)
The agenda isn't apparent because it's about what is excluded rather than included.

        Anonymous

        So a normal show then

          Anonymous

Could be if it weren't for the stated agenda and intent of those behind the show. A normal show can show divorce without agenda. They made it their agenda to never show divorce.

            Anonymous

Or public schools for that matter, which I assume is perfectly convenient for the target audience of this streaming service.

              Anonymous

Bluey featured a divorce and there are kids books that go over that topic. It's not inappropriate, it's something kids live through. Love You Forever is heavier and more mature than divorce.

                Anonymous

Anon, I'm agreeing with you. I'm saying for the same reasons they made it their agenda to not show divorce, there was an explicit decision made to have the family be homeschoolers. I don't think I have to spell out why the Daily Wire Bluey knockoff doesn't want the kids to be going to public schools like Bluey and Bingo do.

                Anonymous

I'm sorry, I thought you were talking about their agenda was just being appropriate for public schools. My mistake.

You're right, normalizing home schooling is a different type of propaganda than normalizing gays in children's media. At worst, showing gays in a kids show is to convince people that gays are fine and shouldn't be bullied or discriminated against. You can say that showing home schooled kids is to make it so that they are more normalized and less bullied, but the content has reach limited to families that are already invested in the right. It's just echo chamber propaganda about how public schools shouldn't be funded.
