There's too many people at Marvel Studios now, everyone is a producer or executive producer, Feige is supposedly the one keeping it all together but if that's true he's really fricking it up now, I think he's there but not nearly as involved as he used to be. I'll still blame him for all the mistakes, though

The problem with Marvel is that they have so much shit planned out that when it goes down it will go down hard, Star Wars only had a few spin offs planned and once they knew it wasn't going to work they scrapped everything, Marvel has years of shit coming, if none of that works it will hurt them way worse than Star Wars

The problem with Marvel is injecting the female power fantasy into the male power fantasy when men are the core consumers and primary demographic for the superhero genre. >female heroes
Men will immediately tune out if the girl isn’t attractive and/or the “it’s about time” “girl power” shit exists. Even if they avoid those landmines the projects are typically given to women writers/directors who will deliver a borderline unwatchable narrative.
Ladies will likely ignore it unless there’s hot guys playing supporting roles/love interest. They may tweet that it’s great and their supportive but truthfully they don’t care if it’s a woman. On top of that the feminists will reeee if she’s too attractive. So you either have to pander to women with an ugly lead or men with a hot lead but ultimately you lose the other half either way.

        >The problem with Marvel is that they have so much shit planned out

The problem with Marvel is that they have so much shit planned out but seemingly without any communication between the writers and a huge unwillingness to involve characters in other characters' movies/shows even when there is no reason they wouldn't

The most blatant examples being Moon Knight literally changing the night sky for a major city in Egypt (or possibly even further) yet nobody shows up to investigate (I think SWORD/SHIELD or Dr Strange would be pretty concerned about that event) or that Hawkeye is in a war against major criminal enterprises and he never bothers to tell anyone or get any help other than New Black Widow showing up on her own accord (and then leaving without really doing anything)

That stopped after IW. The writers/directors, which was a team of 4 on IW did work with everyone about where characters would end pu, to keep things consistent. This stopped, everyone is doing their own thing with no communication. Wandavision was made with no input from Rami. In turn, Spider-man NWH gave no notes to Rami. GotG3 was supposed to come out after IW and before Thor4 so....the whole team up became a 1 note rush through it. They need something to work towards again with a team guiding them.

The biggest example of this is Eternals having shit like Celestials appearing in the fricking sky and coming out of the Earth and not a single movie/show has mentioned it, the only thing that's getting mentioned is Kumail Nanjiani's character, that's it

        >I actually don't even know who's meant to be the "main" hero anymore tbh...
The new big three (the og being Iron Man, Thor, Captain America) was 100% supposed to be Doctor Strange, Black Panther, and Spiderman. But those plans are dead in the water, considering: Black Panther's actor is dead, and Spiderman's actor is cucked by Sony's restrictive contracts that limit the amount of movies he can show up in...so that leaves just Strange, who's charismatic, but not charismatic to carry an entire film franchise by himself

        Anonymous

The closest to a lead right now is Strange which is kind of sad. Spidey-Zoomer lacks the presence or charisma to be the leading guy, they've completely bungled Thor despite being lucky enough to have Hemmsworth sticking around, and audiences rightfully rejected Captain Marvel.
The biggest issue with Phase 4 is no direction and no clear "core" group. The Wanda Vision > NWH > Multiverse arc feels like it should have been an entire phase with Loki supporting it, but it doesn't come across that way.

How about we just blackwash all the white superheroes from now on?

We have the Fantastic Four for example. You already saw a white Reed Richards, how about making him black in the main universe hm? Along with his wife. Frick it. They can all be black. More diversity, more wokeness, more feminism! How can you not want to see any of this?!

The strength of Marvel movies, their calculated repetitive formulaic production, is also their weakness. On the one hand it ensures a consistent product, like coca cola. You know what you are going to get to a 99% certainty before you walk into the theater. There is a problem, some intimidating bad guy character trying to do something terrible, the protagonist (with special powers) confronts the bad guy, if they win there is an end-credits scene that shows that, despite the victory, something has gone awry and you need to stay tuned for the next film. If the main protagonists take a loss (which is very rare) find out what happens in part 2, rinse & repeat. All throughout there are quips, scenes that show women can be powerful too and that the tables have turned and now men are weaker, other SJW stuff sprinkled throughout. Throw in a lot of extremely bright lights and day time shots in broad daylight with forced intensity and a massive amount of CGI so that it's basically a modern day "who framed roger rabbit", rinse and repeat, over and over again...This formula supplies a consistent product but entertainment and art can't remain constant, it gets boring. Monster movies in the mid 20th century became boring after a while as did westerns, slasher flicks and action movies in the 80's also collapsed. They didn't just end immediately they lingered on running on fumes for decades but the craze ended. So the same will happen here I would say by 2030 the craze will be reduced considerably (along with "memes" and "social media") and we will just view it as a a defining characteristic of the 2010's, like other film crazes defined those other decades.

But the lower number of showing per day makes them more vulnerable to bad word of mouth. They are thus more of a risk despite often resulting in a more complete, deeper story.

A movie that is between 90 minutes and 120 minutes usually has a pretty basic, bare bones story.

Imagine a Marvel movie like civil war or Infinity War, with lots of characters to juggle, but it has to be under 2 hours.

MCU scripts and budgets have ballooned out of control. Everything is CGI, green screen sets, and a LOT of bloat in the script. If these directors and writers can't tell a clean, tight, focused story in less than 2 hours, they shouldn't be in movies.

It's one of the smartest things Chaek has done, imho. If a special event movie happens, like End Game, okay, you get an extra half hour. But for everything else, they don't need that extra half hour.

You're forgetting re-using actors, which is very expensive. Even for a day or two of shooting an actor could cost the studio 1-5m, just for an after credits scene or something, they are part of contract negotiations and appearance fees. Just to have patrick stewart for one day it likely cost the studio 7 million dollars.

Thor Love and Thunder had 3 high profile actors film and be cut from the movie. Peter Dinklage, Lena Heady and Jeff Goldblum all were on set. That easily is 10 million dollars wasted. You say Chapek is on top of it, he most certainly is not. You think the budget is going to CGI, have you seen Thor Love and Thunder? It most certainly did not. Natalie Portman and Hemsworth were probably 30m, who knows how much Watiti cost, or Bale, or Crowe.

List all the movies that are over 2 hours long that aren’t trash or don’t feel like a bloated fricking nightmare slog. If you can’t fit Capeshit Adventure #25 into a 2 hour time limit you suck as a storyteller. The age of binge streaming has gotten extreme. You don’t need more than that for almost any movie. You don’t need more than that for most stories in general.

When you cram in so much unnecessary crap, of course they are going to feel empty. The runtime literally has nothing to do with it. How important is the LGBT stuff to any story if it can be so easily removed for the foreign markets?

No, Chapek realized how much money they could save cutting a half hour of useless exposition and CGI. Disney is in belt-tightening mode, in the movie/tv divisions. They're underperforming or losing money. Lucas is the real problem, no tentpole movies to float the tv shows, and no merch. You have to realize how moronic that is. No Star Wars merch. They bought the damn studio because of the fortune the merch makes.
Lucas, Pixar, and now MCU are underperforming. You don't get it - the investors want that dividend and the stock price up. They're not gonna get there with a downward trending line for media profits.

In the future, this era will be when the Disney empire started to fall. Could someone come in, do what needs to be done and fire all the woke and the Kennedys and Feiges...or it rots on the vine, and the movie/tv divisions go under, and Pixar, MCU and Lucas are sold off for pennies on the dollar. Which could happen.

Seems like they are making the same mistake as the new star wars movies, thinking that people will keep watching just for the brand without something to look forward and even worse in this case, replacing all their popular actors/characters with lame sjw alts. They are so out of touch they must be thinking that replacing peter parker for miles will guarantee the same box office.

they need anything over double the budget to profit off the movie. Once it hits 500m anything else is profit. However, they also have a plethora of cross promotional and marketing tie-ins which see them mountains of money. Disney sells more than just movies, they are full on consumer pushers.

I miss pic related so much bros. Will we ever go back? Frick Disney and MCU. Remember that Disney slowly fricked up Power Rangers after buying them. Then they fricked up Marvel right from the get go after purchasing them. And frick the music industry too. Remember when music was cool because of Heavy Metal, mainly Rap Metal bands like these:

Reveille - Permanent (Take a Look Around):

Reveille - Laced (Full Album Playlist):

One Minute Silence - Available in all Colors (Full Album):

    Senser - infoburner:

    Osiva - Malfactor:

    Primer 55 - Loose:

Greedy Edna - Get it Good:

Pic related shared universe from Sony Screen Gems or Time Warner New Line Cinema was the dream. Think we’ll ever go back to the prior zeitgeist of the 90’s and 2000’s?

In hindsight, DC's worst mistake was letting Christopher Nolan make a Batman movie.
His movies were amazing, no doubt, but movie studios don't make all of their profits from just one movie (or 3), ideally they want a franchise. But Nolan was never willing to do that. And it's because of this they had to reboot the franchise with Zack Snyder, and it was a shit show.

Nolan brought them temporary big bucks but at the sacrifice of the long term big bucks.
