You could've just searched "bojack horseman" on tbharchive and found years worth of complaints about how shit it is but I guess the catalog needed one more bait thread today
Sounds too hard
The words that people in the show say
They are too normal
You've been doing this for years
Sounds normal.
BUT A HORSE GUY
NORMAL WORDS
I feel like the show didn't make todd's sexual orientation clear enough. There should have been more attention drawn to it
He needed to eat more cake, and finger paint in the ace flag colors.
2 seasons 2 many
I've seen so much hate for it on Cinemaphile that I've circled back to liking it again.
This, this shithole sucks and hates fricking everything, I rather like things
You’re on this website too. You’re not better than us.
>But Courtney, more importantly, audiences are going to adore your tour de force performance as the forceful denim-clad court reporter in The Court Reporter Sported Jorts, the jet-setting jort-sporting court reporter story.
It's constantly been praised all over the internet
I never stopped liking it
I don't care what people say, I think her and Judah were a very cute couple.
The problem is it just comes out of no where, and Judah has the personality of card board especially since the last season was rushed.
She was ok with the rat, but I guess the writers had to remove him
It got kind of full of itself by the end
It's a circular formula of Bojack trying to better himself then doing something outrageous and apparently hitting rock bottom. The returns diminish over time.
I think the story would've worked better had they did this instead.
Bojack a fading star, but has been given his laurels and is remembered fondly. There is issues boiling under the surface, but we only seem glimpses.
Manages to smooze his way back into relevancy and getting bigger roles. Finally gets to be a 'movie star', but there is drama on set.
Inciting incident causes him to spiral, paparazzi try to make bank on it and he tries to cover it up.
Only for someone from his past, let's say his shitty Mom to come in. We get a season of his backstory and how he's barely kept shit together. He loses it and goes down a dark path, maybe killing Sarah Lynn in a car accident instead of ODing.Maybe this is an attempted suicide but only she dies. Survivor's guilt and small things build up over time he goes to rehab.
Eventually decides to retire somewhere quiet finding peace, writes a book that helps others instead of the self-indulgent biography at the start of the series.
But TL;DR he only has one big relapse and downfall instead of doing that shit every season.
It’s the Korra issue again where they decided to wrap everything in a bow at the end of each season only to need a reset for the next.
That cycle and its diminishing returns are really familiar to a lot of people.
Best show? I thought its okay but its not best show.
>constantly regarded as the best show ever
I haven't heard anyone mention it in years.
I have a nitpick as a super fan.
It should have crashed and burned.
The lesson was perfectly illustrated with bojack drowning in that pool, a cautionary tale.
But God forbid we have a single ball in animation willing to criticize Hollywood.
It’s a show shitting on Hollywood written by Hollywood writers, it all comes off as hollow self deprecation shit and never really hits any of the really fricked up stuff because they know if they went there they would be blacklisted at best.
The show has...
>drug abuse
>alcoholism
>grooming
>producers attempting to strongarm women into sex
>shady contracts
>suicide
>domestic abuse
>blacklisting due to sexual orientation
>realistic child actor trauma and the outcome of that
What exactly do you want it to show? Graphic on-screen rape? The show already tackles an extremely wide variety of topics that are serious issues in Hollywood, I genuinely don't understand what people want out of it when it's already one of the most realistic portrayals of why Hollywood sucks shit and the terrible people in the industry. It goes about as far as it realistically can without being immediately cancelled or rejected. I see this criticism so much but I have no idea what anyone fricking wants.
>I see this criticism so much but I have no idea what anyone fricking wants.
They want all the producers to openly talk about how their new movie will assist in committing white genocide and then they all go home for a satanic human sacrifice orgy.
>most realistic portrayals of why Hollywood sucks
Lmao get a load of this moron.
To admit they’re all fricking pedos and 100% cool with it.
For me it's not about what they dont show but about how the promise of fame and fortune makes people put up with Hollywood's shit
I didn't watch enough to have any opinion beyond "yeah, this ain't for me."
I gave Bob's Burgers a second chance and liked it. Should I do the same for Sad Horse and the Infinite Blandness?
The first 3 or 4 episodes are generally pretty bad. At least watch all of Season 1 and then make your choice. It gets good around whatever episode he steals the D from the Hollywood sign.
My biggest complaint is with the last two seasons, and the fact that the finale doesn't work without them. The type of shitty person he is changes, and it fundamentally alters the course of the show. He suddenly becomes a violent rapist, not even remotely in keeping with his previous scummy nature, just so that the 'unhappy ending' works. It's like right before the finish line they realized "ah frick we have to make him worse or audiences won't be on board with the Bojack Gets #MeToo'd ending"
Pretty much nailed it. The show should have ended when he became a college professor.
It's really strange how Carolyn and Bojack's relationship is put into that light while her happy ending is an equivalent situation with her own assistant.
went on too long, enjoyed the first 2 or 3 season though, watched some shit on youtube about the ending not sure how i feel about it
>He suddenly becomes a violent rapist
what does he do? last i saw the worst thing he did was try to hook up with the 17 year old
>last i saw the worst thing he did was try to hook up with the 17 year old
That's still the worst thing he did sexually speaking, it's just that a lot of his past relationships get put into the spotlight as grooming/imbalanced power dynamics. Sarah Lynn (knew her as a child), Princess Caroline (was his subordinate), and that one girl who was president of his fanclub (too much power over fans) for example.
>Chokes his girlfriend unconscious in a fit of mania
>Has sex with Sarah Lynn whilst she's passed out (revealed two seasons later)
>Waits twenty minutes after she dies to call an ambulance (revealed two seasons later)
Like I said, these 'reveals' just felt like a reaction to 'ah shit he's not despicable enough'.
>Has sex with Sarah Lynn whilst she's passed out
Wait I don’t remember that at all
>Has sex with Sarah Lynn while she's passed out (revealed two seasons later)
God, that was such a stupid retcon; that's the writers thinking they were clever about "hiding" that detail; instead, they look like it came out of their ass.
When did they reveal that bit?
I only remember the “waited 15 minutes before calling 911” reveal.
I'm glad Legion came and went before Hollywood got deep into this new "Audiences like this character too much, we have to ruin them!" thing. David would have stood no chance.
Would you a slampig Diane?
It had rare moments of being annoyingly lefty. The last season felt a little rushed. But overall it's a really good show and any complaints I have are like what you said nitpicks.
Tuca and Bertie was always the superior show.
This looks familiar, it makes me want a peach smoothie.
More like Stupa and Turdie.
This didn't happen
This
The two of you do know that there's a doujin of them fricking, right?
Name?
Celeb-tachi ni Moral ga aru ka, saa, Tashikameyou – BoJack Horseman dj. Don't think it was ever translated from Japanese.
Thank you!
You misunderstand me. I don't want to see them fricking, I WANT to see them build an intimate relationship in which they both find meaning
My complaint is that for a show that supposedly goes super deep into pre-planning the plot, it's pretty obvious that the writers are only thinking one season at a time, since there's so many plot points that are just dropped or ignored one season later after all the build up.
That's virtually every western made show. Virtually all of them have clear 'seams' between seasons and I can hardly think of anything that was actually planned out on a multi season basis.
I didn't like how flat the animation style was. It works, but it makes me sad how much more dynamic and interesting the show could have looked if it was more hand drawn.
It's annoying having a show with good writing get bogged down by an over-reliance on rigged animation. I'm not saying rigged is inherently bad but imo it wasn't the best option for this specific show.
>This show is constantly regarded as the best show ever
No it isn't
>Is there any complaints or nitpicks you have about it?
No
>Is there any complaints or nitpicks you have about it?
>No.
the best show ever!
The guns episode was stupid as frick
>Californians think that Republicans and the NRA seethe at the though of women getting guns
>in reality they cream themselves at the thought of arming every single man, woman and child with 8 assault rifles each
it was a pretty hilarious view into the writers' thought bubble lel
>arming every single white man, woman and child with 8 assault rifles each
ftfy
It’s not very funny
Todd. I fricking hate Todd because he kept getting more and more screen time and he added nothing to the show.
You only hate him because he has better luck than you.
Ok, Cinemaphile. How would YOU have ended Bojack?
Hard Mode: no ''good'' ending for Bojack
it's depression porn.
Bojack as a show has good moments, but as an overall narrative it kind of is lack luster.
My main complaints
>Set up Bojack as this shitty abusive alcoholic person who is trying but failing
>Season 4 introduces Hollyhock and an uplifting ending for Bojack
>Creator gets assmad people sympathize with the main character and doubles down retconning stuff to make him look worse
>Sarah Lynn's death is more directly his fault because he refused to call paramedics for 17 minutes
>The interview scene and the ending where everyone pushes Bojack out of their life
>In spite of him getting rehab and trying so hard to turn around
>No flashbacks to Bojack interacting with his Dad or Butterscotch's backstory, he just fricks his maid and secretary and is generally shitty
>All things Todd and PB related
>PB being a one note joke character whose depth is ditched because reasons
>Todd is not funny and gets tedious as hell to follow, he's also boring
>Everything to do with Diane
>Princess Caroline and her mouse bf was stupid AF
>Extremely preachy and cringe when it came to political stuff
It only did the depression porn stuff good and that's it.
Sorry, I meant no flashbacks with Bojack interacting with his dad as an adult.
I wish Hollyhock had a better send off than BoJack reading her letter.
>Princess Caroline and her mouse bf was stupid AF
Seriously, what the frick was the point of that? He stood up for her in front of his racist family and then suggested adoption. OF course, in the spur of the moment, it sounds insensitive to suggest it, BUT THEN SHE GOES AND ADOPTS A KID!
I only ever come to these threads for NORMAL WORDS and Princess Caroline. I still think the show is good.
I just cannot get past the anthro animal designs, they're just uncanny as frick
BACK IN THE 90S
I WAS IN A VERY FAMOUS AAAAAAANIME
Here's your answer to why it's highly regarded:
It was made by a israelite.
Just like how Einstein is the best scientist, and Spielberg is the best director and Seth Rogen is the best comedian.
>Just like how Einstein is the best scientist
Eh, he was only relatively smart.
I just got done with a rewatch and I got a nitpick, characters exhale in exasperation way, way too often and it gets super repetitive. If I were less lazy I could probably compile them all into a video and it would go at least 5 minutes or so of characters, usually Princess Caroline, making the same sound over and over again.
I get that it's a show with people who generally get frustrated about stuff, but there had to be another way for the writers and voice directors to have the actors express that.
I enjoyed it. The Mr Peanutbutter cuck plotline got a little weird for going on so long. But it was nice that it's ending wasn't an ending and just keep going on.
>This show is constantly regarded as the best show ever
Where? I wouldn't even say it's the best adult animated show. Hell not even the best Cinemaphile show. It's good and has some very well executed highs but even so it's not eevn close to its competition.
