This. Underrated movie and performance. Never considered setting his Bond in the 60’s. Pure kino.

What good is there in Skyfall? Give me actual reasons, not regurgitated and completely false Reddit talking points. How is a Dark Knight ripoff where Moneypenny is a sassy sheeboon, Q is a genuine homosexual along with Bond being insinuated to have been fricked up the ass and Javier Bardem going all IM LE ACTING constitutes for anything beyond D? But i'll oblige you. Here's the link, anon.

Only way for this franchise to come back and not be utter irrelevant garbage. No fricking Dan Stevens, no FotM nog or mutt, no fricking ATJ, no fricking Paul Mescal or whoever the frick. This and ONLY this. MI and UNCLE schooled EON on how to make proper Bond movies.
        >inb4 someone says small hands and too buff
As if the millions of men who envy him and women who want their spine shattered by this guy give a frick. If you're a genuine Bond fan, you look at this picture and get Goosebumps at how fitting he is. Also, looks like the son of the objectively best Bond, Timothy Dalton.

Penny Dreadful made me go back and realize Dalton was one of the best Bonds. I still prefer Connery but can’t be objective due to only seeing his films for most of my life before eventually watching View to a Kill many years later. But Dalton was very underrated. This is the first time noticing the resemblance.

Cavill was great in Mission Impossoble and let's keep it at that. I don't see a Bond in him.
        >Any oldgays remember when Craig was announced?

I don't. It would be exciting if they kept the new Bond under wraps until you see the movie at the theater, to reserve judgement. I'm guessing the new Bond is always known and plastered all over months before.

Why, anon? He's got a great build, black hair, blue eyes, the playboy demeanour, the charm, nailed his one-liners and comedic moments in UNCLE and also looks great with a gun in action scenes. You have no idea how assblasted I STILL am 15 years later that he didn't get cast as Bond. If you know your Fleming, there has never been anyone better to take the role. Henry Cavill is perfect as the cinematic Bond in the mold of Connery, Dalton and Pierce but this guy is the Fleming Bond. I always get irked at just how much Dalton got praised for being 'accurate' when the Fleming Bond is way off how Dalton's Bond was. Book Bond is a cold, ruthless and emotionally distant spy who takes the ladies after the mission is done. He's reflective and has a lot of monologues. Not a cinema-friendly character, ironically. He's more like a noir detective than anything we know him as. It hurts even more that I found out he never was even asked despite us believing at the time he was the frontrunner. Talk about a knife to the heart.

This would've been different for sure. Make Bond seem cold and distant to the audience. He's a broken man. And show cracks of humanity every now and then. A bit like in the vein of 'No Country For Old Men'.

Great comparison, anon. It would filter people TO OBLIVION but it's the REAL James Bond as written by the guy that created him. He does some dastardly things in the novels and is a man's man in the most raw and realistic way, like you mentioned. Also, what really gives him that special factor is that he has an extremely similar physiognomy to the man that Ian Fleming thought of when he wrote Bond, Hoagy Carmichael. The sketch that's been floating around for years is from Fleming but if you want reference to cast Bond then he's the template.

This is who I was talking about, by the way. Bond comics even referenced his appearance. A hard-edged, meditative, atmospheric Bond movie that's personal and raw in it's story and emotion will and has never been actually done.

They were already doing this in Casino Royale but after everyone hated QoS they overcorrected

No, not really. Graig going all pouty-faced isn't the same thing. Reading the original novels makes this clear. Also, did they overcorrect? He became more mopey and fricking boring with each passing film.

                these homies get it
book bond is absolutely closer to a detective than a gallivanting super spy, I love pretty much all of the movies but it's been dominated by a different image of bond largely formed from connery

                if they want a book
                >looks right (black hair, blue eyes, etc.) but most importantly looks brutal- cold and cruel are the two most frequent descriptors used for him by fleming, he's not brutish the way craig took him, rather is suave but completely willing to murder without remorse if the job calls for it. he's not bloodthirsty or cavalier either, he bemoans having to kill more than once, but just has an "if it's required, I will unhesitatingly do it"
                >he's womanizing, not lecherous; he sees women as fun things to spend time with when you don't have 'real work' to do, and breaks up with them (or is broken up with) about as soon as they don't have a reason to be together
                >he's a great shot but not a physical monster- bond's greatest strength isn't even his body or cunning, but rather his will and ability to ignore/overcome physical pain, duress, etc.; it's pretty common for him to win a scenario because he endures beyond what the bad guys think is possible
                >deeply introspective but never moody- he's always thinking about what's going on and his role in the world, but even when he sees a fault in his lifestyle he doesn't bemoan it, his ultimate dedication is to the job
                >more indirect villain killing, it's fun to have the villain make a face before bond kills then and one-liners, but that's not even half the kills (lol you manipulated the situation perfectly but here's a bomb you didn't know about)
                >tone is more thriller than drama, action, or intense- fights aren't infrequent but are mostly very short

Tom Hiddleston was the only actor before No Time to Die known to make it far enough to meet with Barbara Broccoli and she's the one that turned him down. He was my top pick and only needed to convince one more person before getting the role.
Henry Cavill and Antony Starr have the Chad energy for it, but with how long they take to make movies now either one of them would age out of the role after like two movies.

        Anonymous

Hiddleston has the same problem as Dan Stevens: his face as all wrong. He looks like a scheming villain, not a suave hero.

        >Henry Cavill and Antony Starr
        >would age out of the role after like two movies.
Starr is already too old. Cavill could manage alright, if they could get back to the 3-years-between-films average that Craig had through Spectre.

Nobody is going to last more than 2-3 films if they keep having 5+ year gaps. Even if they don't age out, they won't want to hang around that long between paydays.

Out of these I think only Idris Elba, Michael Fassbender or Tom Hardy would work. You need a special mix of suave and masculinity that most man lack. Especially modern male actors. But then again, if they keep making James Bond as if it were a generic action movie then I guess it doesn't really matter who you pick.

kek, would love an Austin Powersesque mock movie with him.

Once again, the only right answer is Dan Stevens . Cavill is way too buff.

Based Stevens enjoyer. The guy's 40 at the right age, basically unknown by many and his most high-profile role was being in a CGI suit for some forgotten LA Disney movie so he's seasoned but not ultra-famous. He's a bit onions but then again so are most Bond actors (they've said Bond should be a woman, for frick's sake) but as long as they get him in pristine shape and looking like he did in the movie you posted then Bond 26 is sorted. I don't mind a blonde and blue-eyed Bond as long as he isn't disgusting to look at like Graig.

Entertainment is a word often misunderstood.

Like rudy ray moore said about dolemite, who cares if its bad, at least its funny. All the campy bond movies are entertaining. When they are bad, you laugh at them, when they are good, they happen to be the most tense, action packed, thrilling adventures.

The new movies are either depressing, boring or good but edgy action.

and it's been making quite the impression on me. He read out CR in an audiobook so he's already sort of played Bond and it fit him like a glove. Great voice, great physique (tall and slim) and he can grab both male and female audiences, of which Graig grabbed neither. His odds are very good to so I'd say he has more than a decent chance.

I wouldn't say that he looks too young, but I don't like his jawline. Bond needs more of a square jaw, not a sharp, pointy chin.

Show me a modern British male 30 or under who doesn’t look like a child

That hardly matters since Bond shouldn't be under 30 in any event. That was one of the problems with Lazenby (and he at least looked older than he was).

Tom is the only one "young enough" to be reasonable to start in a new 10 year old franchise.
I'd personally pick Nicholas Hoult (actually born in Britian too)

            >Tom is the only one "young enough" to be reasonable to start in a new 10 year old franchise.
He's too young. Bond is supposed to be middle-aged. Even understanding that you're casting for multiple films, he shouldn't LOOK under 35. Connery and Lazenby were 32 and 29, respectively, but both looked older.

You can't predict how they'll age, anyway: Craig was 37 and Brosnan 41 at the outset, and both looked better after ten years than Connery did after five. Moore, who started out at 45, was still passable at 55 in his penultimate film. Still, I'd say 45 should be the upper-end cut-off, and probably 42 would be better.

He's Barbara's favourite because he's a sex toy for old Hollywood hags, hence his wife. I bet he'll be the deciding factor of Nolan wanting nothing to do with the project. I'd imagine he'd go with someone good and proper like Dan Stevens or Henry Cavill. Don't expect these Nolan rumours to materialize. He'll want to do something kino and the hag Barbara will throw it out the window. She's basically made the Bond movies roastiecore fantasies like Fifty Shades or something hence Graig's movies after QoS.

Is there some reason I'm unaware of that makes Cavill ineligable? He's not too old, go watch a roger moore bond hell even pierce brosnan started to look flabby and old by the 3rd movie. If roger moore and pierce brosnan weren't too poncy to be bond than cavill certainly isn't he mogs them physically. Granted he failed as supes and geralt

He's not old AT ALL, he's the perfect age and is aging beautifully. He has the looks, the build, the chops and the charisma and looks like a mix of Brosnan and Dalton, the best Bonds. Ideally, he should already be locked in. I wouldn't hold my breath but do consider this. Amazon now owns MgM and they too have deals with Cavill. I'm not saying that's a surefire prediction but I'd imagine it's easier to just get him hence you already have him on board. He probably doesn't want to be degraded by Barbara to get the part, though.

It will happen. Barbara has picked him out. He makes her wet and that's it. It doesn't matter, anything else is irrelevant and it is of no importance if he fits the role. Graig was a blonde fricking Russian looking homosexual and 15 years of him in the role flew by. It's over for this franchise.

yeah he's not too old for the role. if he were cast today, he'd be in the middle of the pack when it came to ages. moore started as bond at 45, dalton started at 41, and brosnan started at 42. craig was also only two years younger than cavill currently is when he first got cast. it's really only lazenby (29) and connery (32) who were significantly younger in their first movies.

He's a Warhammer 40k fan. He paints his own figurines. I cannot take this man serious as a Bond. Apart from that, we already had a bulky Bond with Craig. I love Cavill, but I don't think he would be right for the part. Not even considering the whole 'Witcher' debacle.

Too white, too masculine, too Catholic and likely too based to be offered any roles anymore. After the Witcher debacle, it’s clear he’s unwilling to play ball and allow himself to be cucked to the extent they require. The 40k series will be interesting to see what level of concessions he’ll be forced to relent to given his supposed level of involvement behind the scenes. The potential is high, but I’m not expecting much considering the studio.

Hardly. It doesn't help though, on his end, that he does absolute garbage like The Witcher or Argylle. I'd say he could get it from them wanting to please fans after NTTD was a complete disaster but that's the mother of long shots.

Cavill should be the next Bond and everybody knows it. As for the next Bond girls that´s actually a problem because a Bond girl should be, first and foremost, hot as frick. Bond is the one property on which you can´t pull off that "we are challenging the standards of beauty" bullshit.

Because he´s shown he can pull it off. He´s been auditioning for that part for like 10 years now. First with the man from uncle showing he could pull off classic Bond, then on MI showing he could pull roughed up Craig style Bond.

This. There's quite absolutely NO one else in Hollywood fit for the part. Of course, the Lazenby route is there but they would be out of their minds to attempt it. NTTD was a hot mess, this is the most popular choice by Bondgays and normal people, Henry already is in bed with Amazon who more or less owns it so it should be a no-brainer. I think it'll go to him. ATJ won't get the part otherwise his PR wouldn't have allowed an interviewer to ask him about it in this interview he did a few months ago.

It didn't work, though. We're supposed to believe this is Bond's origin story but he looks old as frick and then actively resigns at the end. That's lame. CR was good at everything EXCEPT Graig, I think it was good and successful despite of him not because of him. It still baffles me why they didn't go for Henry Cavill. He was 22, a perfect fit for the origin story Bond they SAID they were going for and could have done movies for fricking DECADES and been locked in as the millenial/Gen Z Bond. This is him in 2005, in some Hellraiser movie. He looks boyish for sure but he also looks like a fricking Bond-like chad. What a missed opportunity. We're fans who know what the frick we're talking about and have love and reverance for Bond and thus come up with infinitely better ideas and picks. Henry not being Bond will go down as the gravest missed opportunity in movie history. It's a shame he did capeshit but I would take him as Bond any day of the week over anyone else.

It’s so over for Hollywood when we can make our own adaptations using AI tools. Literally over for them. They’ll have to try and regulate access.

Never happening. They're literally developing those tools in cooperation with OpenAI. It's all israelites helping israelites. Hence the convienent timing of the strike. It'll either be shut down for good (Bing image creator is already broken by coomspammers) or used by studios exclusively to push out demoralization propaganda faster and more efficiently. No way do I see the common man ever getting their hands on it. I hope we live in the 1 in a million timeline, though.

doubtful. it only takes one leaker or one group of autistic programmers. maybe not soon, but that dam will inevitably break. and there will be no putting the genie back in the bottle.

i can't wait. the next leap forward will be finding a way for the human brain to instantly consume all the content. i want to watch a movie like a taking a pill.

It's already halfway over. Graig's Bond is not Bond at all, was hinted at that he's 'bisexual, became an emasculated MUH WIFE AND KIDS onions boy and died for them due to a plot contrivance meant for that to happen. Modern Bond can work great, as MI, MFU and even Kingsman have proved. It's just that demoralization and outrage politics will take center stage no matter what. No escapist fun from the hell we live in, goy.

My rankings of the Bond girls. Xenia was my sexual awakening and no other woman has ever made me feel this way, hence her own tier along with Elektra who has the same effect.

I've noticed this about Bondbros on the board. We may disagree and get pretty heated but it's always comfy, informative and we actually discuss things than just scream into the void like in other fanbases. GL was a fine action movie which got this appaling reputation due to the homosexual actors overhating it for no reason and the countless video essays and opinion pieces slamming it because it's SO LE BAD when it's just serviceable and enjoyable. Pop culture fandom is an insane asylum of lies and utter idiocy. I wouldn't engage with them in any way.

It pisses me off to no end that these sheikhs are investing so much of their money in divegrass when buying up dying Hollywood IPs and churning them out in their own system. It also seems like the perfect place for theme parks and whatnot.

Every time, anon. Listen, I really hate this narrative that's pushed here for the express purpose of bashing Cavill. Moore was huge when he was cast, Dalton and Brosnan were established and favourites for years to be James Bond. The only ones who fall under this is Connery and Lazenby. Even Graig was picking up some steam with Layer Cake (not that he wasn't a huge miscast) so most of them were known stars. This narrative needs to be curbed once and for all cause it's clearly a lie. Dalton and especially Brosnan were once passed over and thought of as long shots for the part before they snatched it when it came around for the second time. Just like Cavill. The writing is on the wall.

Anyone over the age of 35 should be ruled out. There's no serious debate about that. The next James Bond needs to be convincing as an action star for 12-15 years. Anyone over 35 before they even start the role is too fricking old to be Bond.

That leaves Daniel Kaluuya, John Boyega and Tom Holland from your list. If any of those 3 can play serious and high-class, I've not seen it.

      Anonymous

      >Anyone over the age of 35 should be ruled out. There's no serious debate about that.
Of course there's debate. Four of the six actors who have played Bond for Eon to date were over 35 when they took on the role. Half of them where 40+. Only Connery and Lazenby were younger, and both of them had the benefit of looking older than they were. Connery also aged the worst of any actor in the role. If anything, no one significantly *under* 35 should be considered.

      >The next James Bond needs to be convincing as an action star for 12-15 years.
15 years is too long for anyone to play Bond. The only one that's stuck around that long was Craig, and even he did only because of how long it took to make this final entry. Moore stayed around for 12 and got very stale in his later films. No one else has stayed around for more than a decade, and that should be instructive.

The days of getting 5+ Bond films out of a single actor are over, or ought to be. Unless they can get back to three years between entries, even 4 is pushing it.
