the batman song had better lyrics than the batgirl song:
Everyone likes Batman.
eggselent observation
60's Batman came at a time when Color TV became a thing. It wasn't about mocking the comics, it was about how having color tv broadcasts and appealing to all age groups especially kids.
for an interesting article about how they used to have to make up for black and white TV, see this link. They look shocking when scene off-tv

The narration is maximum KEK to anyone who watches noir and neo-noir. A great writer will just describe it very simply while also showing you what to expect next.
The narration feels like its written by an edgy teen.
fun fact: the narration was done by William Dozier, the producer of the show
Pure. West.
the look she gives is priceless
Adam West and Burt Ward did do two animated films before West died. They're not amazing, but worth watching after you finish the show.
Also see "return to the batcave" a campy behind-the-scenes story of the show:

Gen X hated it because it was the only live action Batman they had up until 89, which is why they went apeshit for Keaton
They've spent their lives trying to make a "more serious" Batman because of it
Still the most comics accurate
Silly golden age fun
Kato(Bruce Lee) and the Green Hornet also guest starred briefly. Bruce Lee was upstaging Adam Wests Batman and everyone else with his martial arts skills in these days.

I'm 33 and love it. People who say "it's so campy and funny by accident" are moronic. They knew exactly what they were doing. The costumes are cool, the old celebs are neat to see, the women are gorgeous. West and Ward have great comedic chemistry, what's not to like?
I see it as a last gasp for fame for Old Hollywood actors. Batman TV series uses film techniques that would be consider passe at the time of its release. 66-69 is a strange time for most Old Hollywood era actors.
It's better than any superhero movie ever made except Superman with Reeve and Batman with Ledger. Witty, funny, self-aware, unpredictable. Best Batmobile. Best Batcave. Best Batman. Best Bruce Wayne. Best Robin. Best Dick Grayson. Caine and Oldman are hard to beat as actors, but they weren't allowed to have fun as Alfred and Gordon.
I've been watching it recently on my laptop as I fall asleep. Don't care for capeshit or comics at all but I just find 60s TV very cozy and just boring enough to tune out. They absolutely knew what they were doing in terms of how intentionally campy the whole thing is. Batman regularly stops in his tracks to avoid violating even the smallest of crimes like littering or illegal parking. Robin hastily gives up or lashes out at something, before immediately being corrected by Batman and allowing Robin to tenderly see the error of his ways. Its a complete fricking laugh and knowing it makes comic book homosexuals seethe makes it even comfier. Superheroes have always been moronic and the people making this knew that and just had fun with it.
I would have loved to see a 60s Batman video game in the style of the Arkham series, with Adam West and friends reprising their roles. Too late now though, RIP Adam. It could have been a very neat, lighthearted spinoff complete with BOOF and ZOW sound effects in combat and lots of ridiculous utility belt gadgets.
>The Monkees
it's funny how all the music was done by studio musicians, and later the actors learned to sing and play the songs somewhat to try and cash in on that old glory after it had gone somewhat cult status. they probably never got any checks from the shows syndication, i expect
This show was made because someone in hollywood screened the original Batman serials in the early 60's, and it was a huge hit and people thought it was hilarious. So they did this. I still love it to this day, but the way we watch shows now (binging) doesn't do Batman 66 any favors. Basically the first season is fun but then it runs out of steam doing the same thing, so it gets old quick.
This era of production just doesn’t work on a “binge”. One episode of Gilligan’s Island is okay, two is a bit tiring. A weekend of nonstop episodes makes you wish death upon the whole cast then yourself.

I feel that with Urusei Yatsura and Sailor Moon. Like 200 eps and very episodic.
With Hogan's Heroes, one of the two greatest TV shows the 60's had to offer.
Two of my favorite scenes:
Left: > Bruce is driving Barbara home from a piccolo recital at some school. Brush is square and Barbara is trying not to lead on that she's wiser than she looks. > bruce, stumbling at watch... would you.... like to watch the television news broadcast.... together??? > barbara (looking coy)... well that's why the shades are drawn, right?
Right: > Barbara and the commissioner with an escort are enjoying some delicious fondue that Barbara has made > gordon and bruce making "mmm good" sounds > bruce... wonderful fondue barbara. It isn't often that a bachelor like me gets a home cooked meal
The theme was covered by ever Boomer band back then

i finally get that family guy joke
everyone likes Batman!
i never cared for superheroes, never will
go eat a dick you homosexual
60s batman mocked people who wanted comic books heros to be real, and it was brilliant.

Obviously you do or you wouldn't make a thread trying to understand them
It remains to this day THE Definitive Batman and there's nothing you can do about it.
Everyone likes Batman.
You don't like it? What the frick is wrong with you?
Why did Gen Xers have such a seething hatred of this light hearted comedy series?
they hate life
morons to this day don't seem to realize Batman 66 was an intentional comedy.
The Batman is literally Batman 66 except darker and edgier.
It is tongue in cheek and aware of how silly it is. The entire cast is having si much fun hamming it up.
They're pro shark.
Gen X is divided on 60's Batman. Keaton Batman had much more edge to him and then non-comic fans liked Jack Nicholson's Joker.
It had a good balance. Not too campy, not too serious..
you aren't really that ignorant, are you? we thought it was the funniest shit ever
Anons here always like to make up shit about generations they know nothing about.
Gen X hated it because it was the only live action Batman they had up until 89, which is why they went apeshit for Keaton

Kevin Smith ruthlessly hates the thing. Being a Gen X icon, they follow his opinion
More reason to hate Kevin Smith.
They don't
My parents are Gen X and they love it.
Kato(Bruce Lee) and the Green Hornet also guest starred briefly. Bruce Lee was upstaging Adam Wests Batman and everyone else with his martial arts skills in these days.

Like what techniques?
The Dutch angle to emphasize evil characters is cliche by the time the 60s roll on.
hottest catwoman.
Every Catwoman since copied her fashion statement.

Even Nolan used the gist of it
>some days you just can't get rid of a bomb

LEGO Batman games are that

Camp is kino
death to grimdark
BATMAN 66 IS KINO INCARNATE
it's kino plebian zoomer
It's dumb and cartoonish, as capeshit should be. Serious capeshit is probably the most pathetic thing in the world.
The story about how Adam West and Frank Gorshin got kicked out of an orgy because they wouldn't stop playing their characters will always be kino
Did you guys ever watch The Monkees TV show? It was another show that was really funny and self aware

WHY THE FRICK DID NONE OF THE BATMANS AFTER WEST HAVE A FRICKING BATPHONE?!?
When that rang you knew shit was going down
Yes, I own the box set on DVD.

It's like you don't want to smash prime tang.
How the hell was the egg guy a villian? I just remember the one episode where he tried to fry Batman and Robin in giant pans
he is the world's smartest criminal
