Even back then this joke wasn't funny. It was written by israelites, for israelites. It's a common and normal thing for israeli women to get rhinoplasty so they look white. This cultural context is required in order to find the joke funny.
I find a lot of "israeli humour" is like this. They'll take something that doesn't involve israelites and put references to israeli culture in it, not jokes, just simple references as if the references themselves are funny.
I watched Dracula: Dead and Loving It on Halloween. Took me right back to some of the best things about my childhood and actually elicited genuine unironic laughter. Haven't felt that in a long time. Mel Brooks is a saint and Leslie Nielsen is sorely missed.
I love most of those old parody movies, but I'm going to be honest with you, Spaceballs was always kind of shit. The only reason it was and still is well known is because it was parodying an extremely well known and well beloved property.
All of the deadpan comedies like Spaceballs, Police Squad/Naked gun, Airplane! etc. are all peak humour and will never be trumped.
If you manage to tell absolutely moronic, dry jokes with a straight face for over an hour then you have mastered comedy.
>films and television rely entirely on le winking ironic self deprecating faux-intelligent cynical doom humor for the last decade >suddenly it's the only kind of comedy children understand
really makes you think
Agreed. One of my favorite gags of all time is Nielsen always driving like shit and I don't even know why I find it so funny.
Showed this to my friends once expecting them to laugh at the jokes and physical humor happening. They hated it. They acted like it wasn't a parody of Star wars and actually ripping off Star wars and talked over the fricking film talking about what they were talking about. I realized I didn't have actual friends, just guys I hung out with
Oh god what. What's wrong with people? Actually reminds me of a friend I had who couldn't follow any plots. Like at all and he wasn't even autist or handicapped.

>what happened
well let's see >testosterone levels sharply declined in men >hollywood taken over by women and homosexuals >comedy now is entirely political or gender based
This has always been myopinion. Spaceballs is not funny. Never was. Like the "schwartz" thing. Star Wars has the "force," so let's replace it with a Yiddish word 99% of the audience will have never heard of. This is the level of comedy the movie aims for. It's like the scene in Ishtar where the guy tries to pronounce "shmuck" for five minutes. Unless you're from a vanishingly tiny demographic the joke makes no sense. Why is it here? Now stretch that out for the length of an entire movie and it's just the death of comedy.
What a nitpicking and strange criticism. I get the impression you watched a clip on youtube once and made assumptions instead of actually watching the film.
Still is. Spaceballs is legit one of the funniest movies ever made. I aired it at my bar in Tokyo, was the first time seeing for a lot of people and everyone was howling with laughter, was a really great experience.
I caught a revival screening of The Producers last summer after not seeing it for maybe 15 years. It has to be one of the top 3 funniest movies of all time
Zoomers are humorless. They haven't produced anything funny. They haven't produced anything at all except criticism for a world they are unable to take part in or relate to.
If you don't think ludicrous speed was hilarious you're clearly completely tasteless
For me its: "NOW THAT I HAVE COFFE I'M READY TO WATCH RADAR
I think that silently to myself every time I take the first sip
Glad I'm not the only one.
i don't get it
I always have coffee when i watch radar, you know that.
OF COURSE WE DO SIR!
>covers balls with hands
>WHAT HAVE I DONE?

Actually I’m laughing at yours too.
you're clearly the only one seething here
It's still funny zoomie. Now say goodbye to your two best friends and I don't mean your pals in the Winnebago.
FRICK. Even in the future nothing works.
I audibly keked just from reading this that scene is so funny.
Dr. Irving Schlotkin M.D.
Even back then this joke wasn't funny. It was written by israelites, for israelites. It's a common and normal thing for israeli women to get rhinoplasty so they look white. This cultural context is required in order to find the joke funny.
It doesn't take a israelite to get the joke and yes it was funny.
I find a lot of "israeli humour" is like this. They'll take something that doesn't involve israelites and put references to israeli culture in it, not jokes, just simple references as if the references themselves are funny.
The joke still works as a satire of female vanity. It's not memetier hilarity but it's still mildly funny.
My favourite israeli reference is the one about killing children of your enemies in Blazing Saddles. So funny, I'm dead.
>if the references themselves are funny.
*They are
funny, she doesnt look druish.
Just what I need.. a DRUISH PRINCESS
"If you do not give me the combination to the air shield, Dr. Schlotkin will give your daughter back her old nose!"
NOOOOOOOOOO!!!
I love Mel Brooks so much bros
zoomie tictoc humor is objectively the most moronic thing that has ever existed
in comparison this silly crap is absolutely benign
leftists have no sense of humor
What about all the memes? They at least have those, right? RIGHT???
WE AIN’T FOUND SHIT
>their comb is an afro pick
peak comedy
I watched Dracula: Dead and Loving It on Halloween. Took me right back to some of the best things about my childhood and actually elicited genuine unironic laughter. Haven't felt that in a long time. Mel Brooks is a saint and Leslie Nielsen is sorely missed.
Are Zoomers the most humorless generation ever? Even the pearl clutching Silent Generation wasn't this bad.
zoomers have a sense of humor. picrel is what they find funny
it is funny, 'cel
ngl this is pretty funny
it's not funny at all, just grotesque.
I mean these morons grew up watching annoying orange what do you expect?
AO is millennial-core thoughever.
Zoomers were born with no sense of humor, that's what changed
Making fun of short people will never not be funny
I'm a zoomer and I find it funny
Spaceballs is one of Mel Brooks weaker movies. I agree with Anthony Cumia.

I love most of those old parody movies, but I'm going to be honest with you, Spaceballs was always kind of shit. The only reason it was and still is well known is because it was parodying an extremely well known and well beloved property.
Spaceballs is still miles better than modern humor.
>what changed in the past 40 years?
morons were born and haven't made anything that comes close to this day
Team America is funny
>meanwhile, the other George is dying inside because Mr.T's star outshines his own
Kino.
who?
>reverse buck breaking
The 80s were gay
Why didn't he just chop his arm off?
He can't see shit in that thing
tunnel vision
What am I looking at here?
Breaking the Fourth Wall humour.
Samsara
That's some real kabbalist shit.
Space Balls was never funny, and I'm tired of pretending it is.
Mel Brooks managed to be funny most of the time, not the new history of the world, too sanitized. This however was funny.
>I see your Schwartz is as BIG AS MINE.
>now lets see how well you, handle it.
All of the deadpan comedies like Spaceballs, Police Squad/Naked gun, Airplane! etc. are all peak humour and will never be trumped.
If you manage to tell absolutely moronic, dry jokes with a straight face for over an hour then you have mastered comedy.
Spaceballs is good but it definintly isn't as good as naked gun and airplane, very much the tier just below though
This and the bear in the escape pod were the only parts of the movie that made me laugh.
what do zoomers find funny?
Spaceballs videos on tiktok
>what its a movie? I thought it was just a funny 30 second clip with AI voice over? COOOL.
Kids became cynical and humorless.
Is that a scene from The Marvels?
It's kind of funny how this movie had better special effects than most other sci fi films of the time.
Industrial Light & Magic (George Lucas' VFX company) did the special effects/post production.
>films and television rely entirely on le winking ironic self deprecating faux-intelligent cynical doom humor for the last decade
>suddenly it's the only kind of comedy children understand
really makes you think
Moichendizing!
I think spaceballs was pretty good for a parody movie I miss parody movies
T.geriatric 26 year old
Not enough vegana or drumpf references for you?
this movie has like 4 good bits and the rest is slop
I used to love it but it has not aged well
Most of Brooks' stuff is like this. Young Frankenstein still holds up though.
I love Mel Brooks, but the Zuckers did the parody film better. Airplane and the Naked Gun are still the gold standard.
Agreed. One of my favorite gags of all time is Nielsen always driving like shit and I don't even know why I find it so funny.
Oh god what. What's wrong with people? Actually reminds me of a friend I had who couldn't follow any plots. Like at all and he wasn't even autist or handicapped.
They were definitely bit slow but even the smart one in the group wasn't intelligent
Surely you can't be serious.
i am serious. and don't call me shirley
That's only because Gene Wilder carries the entire movie on his shoulders. If he wasn't in it, it wouldn't be anywhere near as good.
Yeah I always thought Brooks was lame as hell.
But like Family guy, if you fire off enough jokes eventually there's a handful of hits
AHAHAHA his helmet is BIG! Get it? AHAHAHAHA
Its an offensively israeli movie
If you dont find this funny you should probably have a nice day.
I am manlet and I am a human being. You should not laugh at me.
i have never laughed at a single mel brooks joke
>broccoli head discovers parody movies
Showed this to my friends once expecting them to laugh at the jokes and physical humor happening. They hated it. Keep seething manlet women will never take you seriously.
Lol thanks for reminding me I have to watch this masterpiece again. Followed by Blazing Saddles. Mel Brooks was a pretty funny israelite
What's our opinion on High Anxiety?
HERE'S A LIST OF COMEDIES MADE IN THE LAST 20 YEARS THAT MADE ME LAUGH:
-
-
-
-
Tropic Thunder is funny
Barely inside the "last 20 years" cutoff. That being said 21 Jump Street.
>tfw 2008 was 20 years ago
homie is forgetting idiocracy
>DAMN YOUR EYES!
>too late

>zoomie
I'm 40.
What a nitpicking and strange criticism. I get the impression you watched a clip on youtube once and made assumptions instead of actually watching the film.
Spaceballs wasn't funny. Brooks doesn't "get" sci-fi.
Still is. Spaceballs is legit one of the funniest movies ever made. I aired it at my bar in Tokyo, was the first time seeing for a lot of people and everyone was howling with laughter, was a really great experience.
I still say "we ain't found shit" all the time
>Even in the future nothing works!
I can't tell you how much I think this line on a weekly basis.
Thumb Wars was the better star wars parody.
>prequelshit
Mm.. nah.
It's a parody of the original film, just titled phantom because it came out same year.
>Hm where have I seen that directors name before
>kung pow
alright guess I better give this a look
>not appreciating masterpieces from the past
Typical zoomer.
It's our grapes, because they A have no masterpiece and B having no masterpiece growing up made them untrained in kino-spotting
I caught a revival screening of The Producers last summer after not seeing it for maybe 15 years. It has to be one of the top 3 funniest movies of all time
For me its Men in Tights
Dave Chappelle's worst performance
fricking great film
I love Mel Brooks but spaceballs is far from his best work
I'm the Bearded Lady. What are you, one of the FREAKS?
Who hurt you OP?
my kids still love Spaceballs: the Flamethrower
IM A MOG, HALF MAN HALF DOG.
I AM MY OWN BESTFRIEND
RADAR, PREPARE TO BE JAMMED!
no one gives me the raspberry NO ONE!
I KNEW IT I AM IN A ROOM
SURROUNDED BY buttholeS

>cross-eyed idiot replies

MAJOR butthole
