2 is the worst, the rest have good moments.
Also, what cgi are you talking about.

      The helicopter tunnel scene

Well, it was fine for that time.
You need to tone-down old movies for using some cgi.
Bad cgi was Jumanji or The Mummy 2 (Scorpion King).

Fair enough, but the writing and acting isn't as easily excused

Any action film prasied by boomers or millennials is actually just shit.

This series morphs from boomlennial dogshit to capeshit chasing dogshit. Not worth wasting your time with.

so what’s some good gen x actionslop you recommend?

The series was soft rebooted with MI4 after Tom got complete control of the production. That's when they go from interesting movies that capture the spirit of their time to genuinely great films with awesome direction and action sequences.

Other than modern MI, there's really nothing else that's good classic action. The most mainstream films of the 80s and 90s already are the best there is (Spielberg movies, Ridley Scott, The Matrix, Mad Max, etc.). There's Asian action films like John Woo and The Raid Movies, plus Jackie Chan, etc, but you're not going to find any hidden gems in the action genre that are actually good. It's all popular and for a good reason.

    >1
    pure shit
    >2
a bit better but still shit
    >3
    this is the peak
    >4
still prime but not as good as 3
    >5
ok, better than 2 but a clear downfall
    >6
almost as shitty as 2, still better than 1

6 is the best one and it's not even close. If you think 3 is anything other than overrated JJ Abram's slop you're a crazy person or a delusional millennial who thinks 2005 was actually the peak of American culture.

1 is a good little spy thriller.
    2 is dogshit
3 is great and unironically might have Philip Seymour Hoffman's greatest acting performance.
4 is great, but the Dubai part honestly steals the show.
    5 is great.
6 might legit be the single greatest action movie ever made.
Didn't see the new one yet.

I pretty much agree with this and sadly 7 was mediocre. Coming from 6 it was pretty disappointing.

7 grew on me with a second watch, like 5 did. The worst part is the beginning. Once he and big breasts are in Italy the film really finds its identity.

I thought the Italian party was the worst. Ponderous and melodramatic, that part slowed the film down. Picked up for the finale though.

yeah venice was the weakest part. the party itself was just more "le AI" posturing (i dont really care that the "villain" was overplayed bullshit because the plot of nu-MI isnt super relevant, i just didnt like how much time they spent wanking it off)

and then all the shit with killing isla i guess is supposed to inform ethans character, but you dont really feel that for the rest of the film because he was already preoccupied with hayleys breasts anyway. i guess it might play into part 2?

7 isnt as good as 6 but id put it about on par with 4, its still perfectly serviceable cruisekino as a vehicle to watch tom do insane shit for 2 hours. i think a lot of its issues can be chalked up to the two-parter bullshit. will be curious to see how it and 8 are when viewed together

You'd probably be more comfortable watching romcoms exclusively, what with your high estrogen levels.

Coming from a gay who probably wants to suck off Tom, that's not very insulting. Bourne is infinitely better

I just hope they don't retire the series when Tom Cruise inevitable retires. It's literally the only action movies worth watching these days. Although knowing Tom's vanity, he probably has it in his contract that the series ends when he retires, which realistically is probably only 1 more movie (unless they kill him off in 7 part 2 like they did to Bond). Those adrenaline shots giving him energy can only go so far. He still thinks he's 35 or something, and will not deal with aging when it finally hits him. One day you are just going to see a Tom Cruise interview and he will finally start looking his age.

If however there was a successor who would be his replacement? Renner has as much charisma as a rag on a stick, so please anyone but him.

    >Main villain Voight decides to neck his team (EE, KST, SM) and cuck himself (Claire pussypounding Ethan), so that his 30 years younger wife gets her share of wiener and money?

ok, wtf, was up with da plot, why did it both make sense and not make sense at the same time?
