The jokes are extremely childish and unfunny, that would be okay if this was a kids film but it's anything but, if you take the Mask character out it's basically a violent crime drama. Which I guess is faithful to the comic book.

This only furthers the difference in production quality on both. How could you expect them to be up to par with JP when it was a different, less experienced director working with 1/5 of the budget. Probably on a time crunch as well.
