romcoms have been box office poison since capeshit took over
even my aunt who loves shitty hallmark movies didnt bother watching Last Christmas until it was on TV
>hey, yeah, we've called you racist homophobic fascists and that you should fricking die simply because you don't want your kids to be forced to rub the crotches of drag queens... but why didn't you pay us to watch our movie that was purely exercising our narcissism?
>329.5M people in US >estimated 7.2% are gay >23.39M gay population >movie grossed $4.8M >assuming an average $10 ticket price then 480k or .48M people saw it >assuming 0 of those people were straight then only 2% of the gay population bothered to see the movie, or 98% rejected the movie
If 98% of gay people reject something it’s statistically less popular with the community than the Republican Party but sure blame straight people
you forget that half of that gay population are lesbians and they hate gay guys.
but that's still only 4% of the total gay guys
guess they're too busy fricking to watch a movie about them fricking
Just because I'm gay doesn't mean I have bad taste. Romantic comedies are made for women and the men that want so desperately get in their paints. When gay is no longer cute it's rejected by them as well.
The only good gay movies are these stereotypical arthouse ones with the tragic endings.
The part in the commercial where the character points to the shirtless old man gay and says something something Gandalf makes me genuinely laugh everytime because it’s so gay and unfunny
Depends on the romcom. Do movies like Knocked Up, Zack & Miri Make a Porno, and Forgetting Sarah Marshall count as romcoms? Because I thought those movies were funny. Then again, they were funny mostly because of the supporting cast.
Bros wasn’t that funny because it mostly revolved around the two leads and any supporting cast barely had any moments.
Trying to give this a non-cynical look for once, I think that the marketing was an issue. Especially in today's culture, you can't have a movie that is blatantly marketing itself as "this is a movie about being a gay man" and expect it to appeal to straight people. It doesn't have the artistic merit of something like Call Me By Your Name, so straights won't see it because of that either. It's made by a nearly over the hill comedian whose comedy appeals to 40 year olds, who are less accepting of gay people than 20 year olds. If they made this movie less about old homos and targeted younger audiences who are more receptive to gays, it would've made more money.
But if the movie is really as important as he seems to think it is, why does he care how much it made? Isn't it about just having it released as art? And the answer to those questions will tell you the real problem with this.
If the guys are hot, then straight women will go. Straight women don’t want to frick Billy Eichner, only homosexuals do because homosexuals will literally frick anything with a dick.
>If the guys are hot, then straight women will go.
This is not correct. Most straight women feel the same way about gay men's sex as straight men (ughgg). You've been online too much with tubmly fujos who are really just female pedophiles trying to obscure it a bit
I have no idea what he expect. I doubt the majority of straight people can empathize or watch the stuff he promotes, regardless whether or not they tolerate his community.
even hetero romcoms bomb. they pump them out by the dozens for streaming and hallmark channel. this movie isn't even groundbreaking, there's a lot of gay romcoms on streaming right now!
>Gay people complain there is no content for them >They make their own content >Mad when straights don't watch, much like how they didn't want to watch straight content
I think this was thr first case of a director telling an audience not to watch the film, then blaming them.
In the case of Bros that didn't happen, but the trailer makes it apparent straight people are "over".
Lmao are the scared to say Trump’s name now? He wasn’t even homophobic ffs. I wish he was but nah, homosexuals seething in their make believe world where they’re somehow oppressed lol lmao even
It could be the shittiest movie of all-time and it wouldn't have hurt the very landscape of movie production as much as the overall capeshit saturation of the past 12 years
I mean it's a stereotype for a reason. Men did watch the prior two though, because it was sexy and camp.
No one saw that recent women only action film with the chink
I would have watched it if the scene where KStew is jiggling her butt while stealing access cards or whatever was 10 minutes long but other than that I'm good I already respect women pretty much entirely and almost rarely do something to make them uncomfortable unless I like them then I basically act like a moronic tiddler until they ignore me
men didn't have a problem with the old Charlie's Angels, or Underworld, Resident Evil, Angelina Jolie Tomb Raider, etc.
those movies suck now because they're seething with hatred of men and aimed at an imaginary audience of fat chicks who like action movies or something
So when studios didn't want to make gay content because they said there was no audience, they were actually telling the truth and not being superbigots? I'm shocked!
Armond is king. and the best part is he's a black gay man himself so he's immune to bad-faith id-pol attacks. he is as contrarian as Cinemaphile but has the film history and chops to back up his bold takes
This is blatantly hypocritical, immoral, and self-serving coming from Chappelle, but I still love to see it. Social justice warriors deserve to be hoisted by their own petards.
It seems like he literally only knows how to make weird cheesy oversexualized homosexual shit and I don't get why he was once popular. Same shit with Pedro Almodovar.
Yeah, except it’d be starring more like picrelated. It isn’t just that they made a gay romcom, they made a gay romcom starring a D-list ugly comic in his mid 40s. Straight women want to see hot straight guys if they’re into that.
Billy Eichner is the least funniest person alive and I don't go see anything he does because of that fact. The fact that he puts weenies in his ass or mouth is irrelevant.
>mfw homosexuals realize that no amount of shilling or guilt tripping aimed at the public by the homosexual media or ~~*Hollywood*~~ will ever change the fact that the normal majority of citizens find homosexualry disgusting and little more than another human defect like down syndrome
This is primarily a genre problem. Romantic comedies are only watched by chicks and couples (when the woman is picking the movie). What woman would want to watch two men in a relationship on a date? It's not really relevant to the tone she's trying to set of escapism where she can pretend she's Anne Hathaway and her boyfriend is Patrick Dempsey or whatever.
And men don't watch romantic comedies by themselves or with other male friends.
They made the mistake of picking a genre that only appeals to female escapism and then making both leads men.
You might as well have made a martial arts movie for the Chinese market and cast black people
Someone should tell him that the only people who go to movies nowadays are boomers, black people, and moms with their 7 year olds, all demographics that aren't going to rush to see an explicit gay sex comedy
Perhaps, but that Dahmer show is also extremely gay and yet very popular right now. Bros isn’t a flop because it’s about gay shit, its a flop because it’s just a bad movie

That mean it's technically a niche audience but with a lot of acquisitive power and a large presence in the internet. Movies tickets are getting expensive too but it's still a family tradition with more than 100 years of history
Which is funny because Debra Messing actually has a cameo in the movie and it’s her cursing out Billy Eichner’s character that she’s sick and tired of gay men asking her for relationship advice
they have no subtlety everyone was fine with gay people when their backdoor shenanigans were behind closed doors as soon as they started pervading every inch of our culture shoving gay sex in our faces cartoons schools commercials introducing drag to kids they lost the majority, their little playplace that was Allowed to exist is now a burden and I can't wait till it goes away
This customer is always wrong approach is baffling. Top Gun was a breath of fresh air to people because it explicitly did not do this. It reminded me of when movies were actually fun.
this is supposed to be a comedy, right?
comedies were already struggling in theaters, but then you create one for a niche market and get surprised it wasn't wildly successful?
you only have yourself to blame
Most people have some type of subscription service. Disney+, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Prime.
Billions of dollars a month going to funding this trash. >yeah well i just don't watch it.
they don't care. millions of normies already paid for it whether anyone watches it or not.
>this level of naivety and ignorance
imagine thinking "people I know (my parents and myself) own a video subscription so everyone does" is convincing to anyone. literal children have more knowledge of the world
>imagine thinking "people I know (my parents and myself) own a video subscription so everyone does" is convincing to anyone.
You can easily look up the numbers yourself. Nielsen ratings are a thing.
35% of all content is streamed now, and 85% of households are subscribed to at least one streaming service.
So does the movie follow them going to like 20 different piss-shit AIDs orgies? Or does it try to pretend most gay men aren't disgusting freaks and just want a totally normal and monogamous relationship?
"I'm sad that a movie which appeals to five percent of the U.S. population didn't make much money, especially when we told straight couples in the trailer that their day was over."
>t. homosexual
I don't understand why this is surprising. Straight men, regardless of race, have no interest in homosexuals. Do you understand now, or must I spell it out in crayon?
All I remember from the ads for this thing was that the majority of the crew was gay or some shit. I don't even know what the movie is about beyond that. I'm not gay and I don't actively support gay causes so why would I payoney to watch this.
Because homosexuality is repulsive, people may tolerate other peoples freedom to live their own life but taking part or spectating homosexualry is repulsive. Like that study they did that showed when heterosexual men witness men kissing the response in their brains was the same as looking at maggots
Went to see this movie with my sister-in-law because she’s a fan of Billy Eichner. Plus they filmed some scenes in Cranford, NJ which is near where I live. I even remember seeing the notices all over one of the main streets that said they were filming. Pic attached is the proof.
We even went to the independent movie theater in Cranford because they were advertising to “go see Bros in the town where the biggest scene was filmed!”
The scene was of the pride parade which was just a few seconds long. Kinda bummed I didn’t see more of my local town, and to find out it was just used as a backdrop for Provincetown, MA.
The movie itself was ok. Some parts made me laugh but I didn’t think it was hysterical. Too many sex scenes. I don’t think even a straight romantic comedy had this many sex scenes
Lidia’s? I think they closed down. I live in Clark and didn’t move here until 2019 so unfortunately I never got to go there. I really love the Greek restaurant in Cranford though.
>“Last night I snuck in and sat in the back of a sold out theater playing ‘Bros’ in LA. The audience howled with laughter start to finish, burst into applause at the end and some were wiping away tears as they walked out,” Eichner wrote. “It was truly magical. Really. I am VERY proud of this movie.”
>Eichner concluded his thoughts by encouraging “everyone who isn’t a homophobic weirdo” to see “Bros,” writing that it remains “special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen.”
I saw the trailer for this yesterday and it was absolutely disgusting. Not just the repulsive homosexuals, but the insults towards straight people and basic human dignity. I hope every single person involved in the production of this filth gets monkey pox and aids. I know that’s very likely to happen anyway, but I still wish for it.
I don't like gays and wish they didn't exist, simple as. No amount of putting rainbows everywhere is going to change the instinctual way they make my skin crawl.
>OH MY HECKIN G*D HOW COULD MY gayFLICK UNDERPERFORM????? JUST LOOK AT THE HECKIN TOMATOMETER!!! EXSQUEEZE ME BUT WHERE THE HECK ARE THE STRAIGHTS??? MY MANFRICKERMOVIE GOT AN A+ YOU HAVE A HECKIN OBLIGATERINO TO SEE IT!!!!!!!!
I don't even watch regular romance movies. Why the frick would I want to see a gay romance movie?
It's so fricking annoying to see these people whining about us accepting their sexual preferences, but they can't fathom us having certain movie preferences. Jesus christ shut the frick up.
Fricking kek, what kind of pozzed idiot would sit through almost 2 hours of this shit? Also that part where the children start dancing in reference to both of them being "bottoms"; what the absolute frick is this?
Somebody supposedly spent $22 million on this film.
As far as the cast goes, one cast member was on Parks and Rec for a couple years, but I don’t recognize him.
Another of the main cast was in the basic cable TV dhow Killjoys, and I do recognize him.
One of the actresses Monica Raymund, who I recognize from the Starz show Hightown, and a few other shows.
And Guillermo Díaz who I also recognize from some Broadcast TV shows such as Scandal.
Basically, this is the equivalent of an Indy/Art House film, with a gay plot, like Canada used to churn out on a regular basis.
The fact that the film made close to $5 million when most people aren’t even bothering going to film in theaters now is surprising.
The box office is better than the film Jeffrey from 1995, that had a cast with similar fame.
Do actors really think they’re doing us all a favor and that the general public has to “support” them as if they’re saints or something? Everybody is sick of homosexuality, minorities, trannies, and israelites anyway at this point.
As much as I love booty I probably grab one of yall butts and dare you to say something
ima tell you what
i like ya
and i want ya
now we can do this the easy way
or we can do it the hard way
the choice is yours
>make move that only homosexuals would want to watch
>only homosexuals watch it
HOW COULD THIS HAPPEN?
>make a shitty boring unfunny movie
> expect people to pay for it

Brosbros... Is this true? I just wanted some bromance kino
romcoms have been box office poison since capeshit took over

Frick these morons
>We will not submit our self to be told we are wrong any mere them they do.
What?
Gays are convinced that all straights are secretly gay and are just waiting for the right moment to come out. It really fricks up their thinking.
>Billy secretly hoping that all the theaters would break into into big gay orgies.
this
95% of people aren't gay and despite what they say on twitter most aren't actually interested in paying money to virtue signal
have they jumped the shark with this shit? this is like the 15th movie/show this month they are doing this damage control technique on
I'm not going to a groomer pedophile homosexual cinema sorry chud
Gays have contributed nothing to society except degeneracy
He's right. Even the audience loves it. Straight people refusing to spend a bit of money to uplift a great gay work is rank homophobia, frankly.
>9 out of 10 gays love it!
That's not very compelling.
>>not giving me money is homophobia
the bar for hate crime gets lower and lower

The part in the commercial where the character points to the shirtless old man gay and says something something Gandalf makes me genuinely laugh everytime because it’s so gay and unfunny
It might be a good film I have no idea but the public has absolutely 0 trust in reviewers nowadays. Why do you think that is?
NOOOOOOO! THE UNPLEASANT GAY MAN FAMOUS FOR AGGRESSIVELY YELLING AT STRANGERS ON THE SIDEWALK THINKS I'M A MEANIE!
Billy on the street is unironically funny though
NAME A WHITE PERSON!

JUST MAKE A GOOD FRICKING MOVIE. IF ITS GOOD I'LL LIKE IT EVEN IF IT HAS GAY ORGIES IN IT GOD DAMNIT
i just cant relate to it. maybe if there was more straight white male (ideally wmaf) representation i would watch hollyisraelite propaganda more
>It's not for you, bigot!

straight white men are meant to be used, not heard
Neil Gaiman has officially been overtaken for "hardest copium on having their shit flop"

people expect free gibs just for existing or else they cry "bigot"
>Seeing a movie is an important form of political participation when it personally enriches me.
It’s all so tiring.
It's been this way for over half a decade now, man. Your opinion on Ghostbusters and Star Wars determines if you're a bigot or not.
Has he had work done? I can barely recognize him.

The only stuff I watch involving gays is gay porn.

I don't doubt the reboot was ass (like all reboots) but calling out capeshit is still perennially based
she wasn't calling out capeshit. she was calling out men for going to see capeshit instead of her film, like it was their failing.
Midwit, Charlies Angels is worse than any capeshit.
It could be the shittiest movie of all-time and it wouldn't have hurt the very landscape of movie production as much as the overall capeshit saturation of the past 12 years
I mean it's a stereotype for a reason. Men did watch the prior two though, because it was sexy and camp.
No one saw that recent women only action film with the chink
>franchise exists solely due to it's titilation
>remove it
>"omg why aren't people consuming something that has no value"
>Men don't want to watch action with women
When is that coming out?
Why aren't women seeing action movies? I was told the genre wasn't just for men, so women should be flocking to it
Weren't the Charlies Angels remakes with Drew Lucy and Carmen smash blockbusters?
>pre internet: the customer is always right
>post internet: the customer is always racist, sexist, or homophobic
I would have watched it if the scene where KStew is jiggling her butt while stealing access cards or whatever was 10 minutes long but other than that I'm good I already respect women pretty much entirely and almost rarely do something to make them uncomfortable unless I like them then I basically act like a moronic tiddler until they ignore me

someone post the shitty webm
Milla Jovovich, Angelina Jolie, and Kate Beckinsale, all prove this wrong.
So when studios didn't want to make gay content because they said there was no audience, they were actually telling the truth and not being superbigots? I'm shocked!
It's like giving a cat a mango and crying when she doesn't want to eat it.
The cat never wanted a mango, and calling it names for refusing doesn't change anything. Can we stop these threads now?
it got the Armond White kiss of death
https://www.nationalreview.com/2022/09/bros-wallows-in-hollywood-narcissism/
that was fantastic
Armond is king. and the best part is he's a black gay man himself so he's immune to bad-faith id-pol attacks. he is as contrarian as Cinemaphile but has the film history and chops to back up his bold takes
I've already seen this movie. Don't need to see a remake.
Because gays = white supremacy
This is blatantly hypocritical, immoral, and self-serving coming from Chappelle, but I still love to see it. Social justice warriors deserve to be hoisted by their own petards.
Literally the only good gay movie
Every John Waters film is a 'gay' movie and they're kino
It seems like he literally only knows how to make weird cheesy oversexualized homosexual shit and I don't get why he was once popular. Same shit with Pedro Almodovar.
Ahem
I feel like part of the reason this movie even gets any discussion is because "(X)bros, we (Y)..." posters can just say Brosbros
I'm saving my brosbros for discussion of Super Mario Bros
>no one is using "brosisters"

Oof
What if they changed just one thing about the film?

Lol its always the same type of dudes at porn conventions
this!
gay sex is only hot when girls do it to warm up for our threesome
Yeah, except it’d be starring more like picrelated. It isn’t just that they made a gay romcom, they made a gay romcom starring a D-list ugly comic in his mid 40s. Straight women want to see hot straight guys if they’re into that.
nah blue is the warmest color was a flop too
> Movie mocks straight people.
> Gets angry when straight people don't show up
lol that homosexual can get AIDs and die.
>what you don't like watching two men making out?

*eyes 10 Things I hate about you DVD on shelf*
10 things is a very different beast from most romcoms. its built around being Shakespeare. It also has heath ledger.
It's a romcom. Am I supposed to take a girl out to go see a gay romcom? She'll think I think she's a troony.
who the frick wants to see that homosexual crap
>YOU PIECE OF SHIT WHITE CHRISTIAN NAZI TERRORIST
>...why didn't they watch my movie?
The israelite fears nothing more than his enemies forming an alliance.
We hate the antichrist.
We hate the antichrist.
The movie needs to pander to straight women in order to be a success. They're half of the world population.
>They're half of the world population.
And yet still counted as a minority.
They got emancipated not so long ago and they're still second class citizens in many parts of the world. Just saiyan
>tfw white women will be burqa wearing second-class citizen again within less than 100 years
Feminism is the cancer, Islam is the answer
>still second class citizens in many parts of the world
Still in the western world they are treated as a minority by these big companies.

They're gonna get me one day. I just know it.

>okay then i won't watch it
>NOOOO NOT LIKE THAT
I hate gay people
>please ignore the fact that Will&Grace was about gay shit and was still extremely popular with straight normies
Yeah, but people are sick of gay people now.
Perhaps, but that Dahmer show is also extremely gay and yet very popular right now. Bros isn’t a flop because it’s about gay shit, its a flop because it’s just a bad movie
No, we're not supposed to count that as a gay show.
Streaming work under different rules. For starters, Netflix's cost is getting higher so their audience are upper middle-class mostly. That mean it's technically a niche audience but with a lot of acquisitive power and a large presence in the internet. Movies tickets are getting expensive too but it's still a family tradition with more than 100 years of history
but that's about a gay serial killer deviant. People are sick of having to "support" gay shit.
Dahmer is already going to be watched by women so they made it gay to make them coom even more
It's current year and gay people are the straight people of gay people.
Didn't people ignore that when they rebooted it too?
>please ignore that RENT was the biggest play on broadway for years and years
Yet the movie version flopped
> ~~*Broadway*~~
> Degeneracy popular
Who would have thought?
>please ignore The Birdcage being a huge hit in theaters back in the 90's
The 90's was a different time.
Which is funny because Debra Messing actually has a cameo in the movie and it’s her cursing out Billy Eichner’s character that she’s sick and tired of gay men asking her for relationship advice
Oof you forgot to buy the tickets too, that's how Disney does it
I support you homosexuals so much i might just assrape you tomorrow
ah yes woke scapegoating
but seriously I didn't watch the movie cause gay people repulse me
>especially in certain parts of the country

I cannot stand the blame game. You made a product that didn't sell, and we won't change our minds if you say we're bigot poopyheads.
This customer is always wrong approach is baffling. Top Gun was a breath of fresh air to people because it explicitly did not do this. It reminded me of when movies were actually fun.
this is supposed to be a comedy, right?
comedies were already struggling in theaters, but then you create one for a niche market and get surprised it wasn't wildly successful?
you only have yourself to blame
>glowing reviews
>great rotten tomatoes
>cinemascore
all meaningless and monkeypox has to have eaten his brain to think that matters to anyone
this is why the subscription-based entertainment model fails consumers.
You may not want to see this trash, but your Disney+ money funded it anyway.
>implying I give money to these israelites
frick outta here
Most people have some type of subscription service.
Do you understand now, or must I spell it out in crayon?
the quran is very clear on the solution for this specific transgression
I left Cranford for Oklahoma a few years ago. I miss that Cuban restaurant. Their Peccadillo was amazing. Did it survive covid?
>Hollywood has been pushing propaganda for so long they accidentally gaslighted themselves into believing gay acceptance was real
lol(lmao)
I saw the trailer for this yesterday and it was absolutely disgusting. Not just the repulsive homosexuals, but the insults towards straight people and basic human dignity. I hope every single person involved in the production of this filth gets monkey pox and aids. I know that’s very likely to happen anyway, but I still wish for it.
They marketed the shit out of this movie. Bunch of glowing articles trying to push it as well. Glad it flopped hard.
explain broke back mountains success then
A story about gay cowboys secret love affair is more compelling than a film about out and proud butt bandits.
I think gays and trannies are genuinely oblivious to the fact that they're a hyperminority and their genuine supporters are a regular one
>rotten tomatoes
he doesn't know
wow. first theres a monkey pox epidemic during pride month, and now THIS?
gays are not having a good year
I don't like gays and wish they didn't exist, simple as. No amount of putting rainbows everywhere is going to change the instinctual way they make my skin crawl.
bald im kino
>give us your money or else you're a homophobe!
If you want to see actual gay kino, watch Scorpio Rising

Fricking kek, what kind of pozzed idiot would sit through almost 2 hours of this shit? Also that part where the children start dancing in reference to both of them being "bottoms"; what the absolute frick is this?
This is quite literally the first time I've ever heard of this movie
I thought the Elegy Beaty community were 5-10% of the US now. Why didn't they go see the film?
reality is fricking unbelievable
>Despite blanket shilling the LGBT community didn't go see our film
>This is the fault of straight people
????
Brokeback Mountain did fine. Call me by your name did fine. What's his excuse now
I’d pay top dollar to see Billy Eichner mauled to death by a grizzly bear
I'm sure he gets mauled by bears all the time just not the kind you're thinking of.
>on no even though critics have to give the movie a good score and rotten tomatoes curates reviews people didn't see it!
corporate reviews aren't real
>be gay
>people hate gays
>surprisedpikachu.jpeg
