Casting decisions aside, the Vaulter is peppy and over-qualified for the surface, the Brotherhood Squire is an Int 1 sociopath - hell, the entire BoS is portrayed as morons with power armor - and the Ghoul is an incredibly delightful Maxed SPECIAL character that's having fun with it.

the games are a schizo mix of bowdlerized post-apocalyptic rape gangs and hyper PC consoomerism. the show is just typical whedoncore shit with a fallout 4/76 veneer slapped over it. it's *almost* good but there's too much reddit DNA in it to be salvageable.
Overall I'd say it's a 6/10. Fun but slight watch that could have been better with a bit more effort. The nog is boring, but the main girl and Goggins salvage the show.
The costuming and sets are super low quality and the retcons are pretty egregious.
It's slightly below average, I'd say. Entertaining enough to keep me watching, but didn't use the setting well enough. Very stilted dialogue with most jokes falling flat and the main plot being an 8 episode maguffin chase. Most new plot developments feel very contrived and unrealistic. It could've been worse, for the most part they "showed not told" but they really left so much interesting lore on the table and left me wishing for more.
All that said though, I watched it through to the end in a couple of days which is the first time I've done that for a new TV series since True Detective season 1.
