Yeah, no shit. Imagine walking up to the ticket counter all nervously, sweating profusely, you look around to make sure no one is watching you, you lean forward and whisper "o-one ticket for e-girlta, please".
Showtime released the movie without marketing in the USA
Mario Kassar and Lea Seydoux's uncle lost some money, oh what a tragedy
I guess that's why they made Terminator 3 without Jim Cameron
>take novel with deceitful scummy pedo who weaponizes language and charm to plead his case >age up the victim >make it lighthearted borderline romantic comedy
seriously what the FRICK was kubrick thinking

>Go to the theater >Unzip dick >Waddle to the counter in cowboy strides >"Morning Robert, One ticket to the finest pedo kinos in your stablishment, sir! I'm talking about e-girlTA of course! I'll be taking the seat right in the middle of the theater for the optimal viewing experience." >Proceeds to the concession stand >"I will have a large popcorn, extra buttery, a flavacol dipper, two cups of soda, leave one empty, and half packet of napkins if you may." >Proceeds to the kino hall >"tickets please" >*Erects dick* "Here you go my good sir!" >Hits fellow pedos in the face with his dick on his way to the seat >Trailers end and the movie begins >"It's morbin' time."
Yea, if it's not book accurate there's no point, it completely neuters the story's core idea.
e-girlta isn't post-pubertal or even pubertal, she shouldn't even be conventionally beautiful, she should be a literal child. And not the timid innocent caricatures we have of children today, but the more natural free/feral child we had in the past, when children had more freedom to roam and play and were generally wild. Like Lyra Belaqua in His Dark Materials when she participated in gang wars with other children, or the street urchins of old victorian England who did much the same, or the homeless children gangs of Moscow or soviet Berlin, etc.
I think much of e-girlta centered around Humbert's inability to reconcile the false image of a pure innocent child he had in his head with the reality of what a child actually is in reality, innocent but generally in a vile and selfish manner if treated as a peer/lover and not as a parent.
Catherine Demongeot from Zazie or Mary Badham from To Kill a Mockingbird or a slightly younger Saoirse Ronan from Atonement is around the right age.
I watched this when I was 15 and said the girl was hot and my uncle called me a pedo. I’m still confused by this. What does that word even mean to people
>What does that word even mean to people
It's just another catch all insult like nazi or incel. It doesn't mean anything because there is no actual standard to judge when someone is sexually mature. For all of human history until just a few decades ago it was perfectly natural and good to be attracted to and marry girls who were able to give birth. This is how were are made to function and think. But modern society and feminism don't like that because it doesn't serve their goals so we have been brainwashed to think a 17 year old and 364 day old girl is gross and yucky and you are some freak of nature if you find her attractive. It's insane mental gymnastics.
I find it very strange that the internet and modern culture is turning everyone into ultra degenerate freaks, and super puritans at the same time somehow. I sometimes wonder what future generations will think of this period in time. I also wonder if anyone will know how many of us think all of this is stupid
turns out nobody wants to actually watch a fricking pedo movie in a movie theater

shacking underaged girls was still acceptable in the 70s.
sorry if I don't find talentless rich kids taking over Hollywood funny
Pretty Babe made millions in the 70s. and is a cult classic and is on streaming.
The 70s were fricking wild
Things don’t end well for the pedo and that’s why it wasn’t promoted.
Why the frick did it cost so much?
beautifully photographied period piece
a good camera doesn't cost 60 million
holy adhd
Jeremy Irons seems like a good fit for Humbert Humbert
He was a good choice, gave a great performance. Dominique was good too. It needed a better director.
He also did a great job reading the e-girlta audiobook
>take novel with deceitful scummy pedo who weaponizes language and charm to plead his case
>age up the victim
>make it lighthearted borderline romantic comedy
seriously what the FRICK was kubrick thinking
how tf could you spent $60M (on top of that it was in 90s) to made pedo movie with literal nothing more than characters talked to each other?

When the only person praising your post is an animetard, it's not really praise.
I accept your concession.
kino
>two cups of soda, leave one empty
Now disclose the vhs/dvd sales. Oh, you didn't want to do that did you?
Will they ever make a book accurate version?
>Didn’t even cast a real e-girl

Still, this is a movie, so we would want a pretty little thing with DSLs.
>walk up to Robert
>FRICK YEAH I WANNA WATCH THE FILM THAT'S ABOUT SEX WITH LITTLE GIRLS
He'd never look at you the same way after that.
I watched this when I was 15 and said the girl was hot and my uncle called me a pedo. I’m still confused by this. What does that word even mean to people
You’re uncle had problems…which i’m sure you’re well aware of

This is one of those unfilmable novels. I think the Kubrick version at least captured some of the dark humor of the book.
Agreed on both points.
I mean she makes out with him and shit. If the actress was younger people would have chimped out. It already got soft banned for a while as it was.
