It says evil, not villain.
never seen a video made by this nerd but he usually explores the antagonist or one of the main villains out of popular series and movies
So?
Those are not the same thing. He's the protagonist, not the antagonist. He remains an evil person.

His videos are boring and devoid of any real analysis.
On one hand the strike team was extremely successful in curbing LA gang politics by getting their hands dirty and forcing the different groups to compromise, reducing crime and making the city safer for citizens, something that ordinary police work probably couldn't do. On the other hand they got completely corrupted, the money train heist led to blackmail, adultery, murder, the destruction of the teams' lives, future, their morals and ultimately their souls if you want to get poetic about it. They "wielded" evil and criminality to fight crime but couldn't prevent themselves from succumbing to it and becoming criminals themselves. That, with the fact that they were in positions of power and supposedly operating under the law (albeit at the fringes which is worse) made them deadly and dangerous and almost impossible to temper and bring down legally. I'll always say that out of all the top rated gritty shows (Sopranos, Wire, BrBa, etc) The Shield had the strongest conclusion, vid related (don't spoil yourself if you haven't watched the show):

Good post
Man watching clips from the finale really hit hard, even when you've seen it a bunch of times. No other show like it.
VIIIIC
Out of all of them (left alive) Ronnie deserved freedom.
I finally watched the show in 2023 and Hulu had him being arrested and shouting as the fricking screengrab for the finale. I was so goddamn annoyed.
>Hulu had him being arrested
HOW UPSET ARE YOU RIGHT NOW?
He wasn't evil, he was a sociopath with antisocial behavior but it was not directed at innocent random people.
>le ebil
That really rustles my jimmies.
Why is youtube full of videos just reading the Wikipedia page or plot synopsis?
Better yet, why (or who) enjoy this garbage?
>Better yet, why (or who) enjoy this garbage?
people who never watched the show. or movie or read the book about the topic of the video. They just put the video as background noise while doing something else, and then they go
>oh wow how insightful
when its literally just the story of the character throughout the show
I always wondered what it would've been like if they made Terry get killed instead of just 1st degree murder. Like tipping off the drug dealer first and having Terry go in blind or something like that. It would seem based on the other stuff that they do that they would attempt to get rid of him some other way before going that far.
Honestly Vic rolled into his position through luck and not do to being extremely smart or resourceful and you could say that he killed Terry because he got quickly swept up into the adrenaline pumping criminal lifestyle. It's like pandora's box. Vic's hubris made him think he could bend the rules and could contain the corruption that he spawned but he underestimated how chaotic and uncontrollable the consequences of his actions would become
They had to make sure he was dead, he might survive an ambush they tried to set up rather than do it themselves. No room for errors.
Also, why isn't Chiklis in more stuff? Even if he was a cop in every movie, I would still watch it.
Sometimes an actor becomes too attached to a role to be seen as anything other than that role.
is it worth watching?
I visited my brother who lived in another state when I was in high school. He randomly bought the first season of this show from a guy at Blockbuster who was trying to sell it back to Blockbuster. He had to work during the day and I watched the entire thing back-to-back. Really enjoyed it. I then waited out the next 5 years or so for it to finish so I could watch the entire thing at will.
I would recommend if you like Breaking Bad, the Wire, Sopranos.
100%
Absolutely.
>is it worth watching?
Not to get too racist but this is kino. The Wire shows the Barksdales/Marlo/Prop Joe as these genius tacticians that are always 10 steps ahead of the police, meanwhile the Shield wasn't afraid to show ghetto hoodlums just brute forcing their way through life and being dumb and ignorant.
>the Shield wasn't afraid
kek
in the thumbnail preview I can practically hear him saying it with the hardest and heartiest of an R
>The Wire shows the Barksdales/Marlo/Prop Joe as these genius tacticians that are always 10 steps ahead of the police, meanwhile the Shield wasn't afraid to show ghetto hoodlums just brute forcing their way through life and being dumb and ignorant.
What the frick are you talking about? Many of the black gangsters in The Wire are dumb or ignorant, and the likes of Prop Joe keeps his business straight by avoiding police attention, not by "outsmarting" them, he deliberately keeps it quiet and boring so they don't have details running investigations on him. They're after the gangs dropping bodies, so he avoids dropping bodies.
Most of the time the police are hindered by a lack of resources or personnel, or by contradictory or limited scope allowed by superiors, not by the gangs outwitting them.
>Many of the black gangsters in The Wire are dumb or ignorant
Yeah I don't know why /misc/ keeps shilling this moronic meme. Several black gangsters were protrayed as absolute idiots
>The Wire shows the Barksdales/Marlo/Prop Joe as these genius tacticians that are always 10 steps ahead of the police,

Yes but they made it impossible to recommend it to friends and family due to the bbc rape scene
>they made it impossible to recommend it to friends and family
yrw The entire family is watching The Shield based on your recommendation. Acevada enters the Byz Lat hideout alone....
>The entire family is watching
Watch the first episode and decide for yourself. I personally think it's a great series
while it is of course worth watching and on a short list of the best stuff ever made for tv, watching the first episode alone doesn't even showcase how impressive the writing gets and consistently stays
absolutely a show that rewards close attention
>Margos......
Still one of my favorite episodes. I loved how Vic would always win.
the US, South Africa, and Latin America have this weird shit where they hate on police even though the criminals are far worse. I don't get it.
>So, after years of murders, robberies and corruption, we have finaly thought of the adequate punishment for you. You're gonna be a wagecuck in a comfy office.
Really makes you think.
What else can they do? He had immunity under their deal, they could only make sure he was a million miles away from the streets and as miserable as possible working for them.
>wagecuck for life
A fate worse than death
Where's my spin off? I would pay good money for it.
Hes a boomer who considers anyone evil who doesnt just hold boring milquetoat humanist values and acts like some cuck being nice to everyone
I did this once to a girl at Lollapalooza
While the Strike Team is busy with low level busts, me and my money commit white collar crimes daily like embezzlement, insider trading, and date rape. Vic can't touch me cause I'm RICH and I'm WHITE and that's all I NEED.
say what u want about the Strike team, but they had their code: no women, no children
they'd take u down
>they had their code: no women, no children
brings you an iron to flatten the darkie
>they'd take u down
Naw. I'm make Mackie suck my wiener like a cell b***h. Put Shane on my payroll. And have Ronnie buried out in the desert.
Being a rich white male makes me more powerful than even the cops! You know what, whose that lil' latinx hussy on all the promotional material for the LAPD? Officer Tina Hanlan? Oh, I want to shove my BWC in that spicy burrito and make Dutchboy watch that cuck!
I'd watch you rape Tina and I'm not even a cuck (just like watching porn doesn't make you a cuck)
>Tina
what she looks like in 2024
aye, papi! forgot she bought some breasts, looks like her lbs. are picking up steam too, could be a genuine slampig (with some training) and believe me, Cheddar Jack knows how to train his hoes.
So wild how people gain this soulless look in their eyes nowadays
>she bought some breasts
Honestly a good call, she had some sad flapjacks. If only Natalie Dormer would do the same.
Vic literally was planning on killing Mara and leaving Jackson as an ophran after Shane's failed assassination attempt
is this show any good?
I'm on the episode where Danny is an insufferable c**t
Danny kind of sucks but they'll move on to bigger and better things. Her role in the early seasons is just to contrast Vic and the strike team.
> danny being a c**t
>they'll move on to
she was annoying but 1000xs worse once she got pregnant
The very first thing he does is killing a cop....
>The very first thing he does is killing a cop....
say it with me
> ALL COPS ARE BASTARDS
then press play
Color me gone.
>He's racist because he's evil
Can we stop making these low-effort threads of youtube essays? None of it is good and you only agree with them because of the creator and not the content.
wait a minute....
did you actually click the youtube link of OP?
LMAO
you know no one else did, right?
we're all responding to the VIC MACKEY image and didn't read anything beyond that
> DAMN, U GHEY homie
Actually I found this video and OP'S video to be pretty insightful
YOU'RE NOW IMAGINING THIS 8 MINUTE SCENE
ONLY WITH VIC AND SHANE
>YOU'RE NOW IMAGINING THIS 8 MINUTE SCENE
>ONLY WITH VIC AND SHANE
genderswapped
Everything wrong that happens on this show is caused by Vic's charisma and luck
I wish the later seasons leaned into the crime-of-the-week stuff the way early episodes did. Best parts of the early seasons was the fricked up criminals and murders and rapists they caught.
