Morrison was the mid 90s to very early 2000s and Giffen/DeMatteis was the mid 80s to early 90s. It's a fair statement that Justice League doesn't have a memorable or defining run "in recent memory".
Most of Bendis' Avengers sucked, and Hickman's Avengers is barely even Avengers, but they were 'important' books that sold well and defined the team for a while, and with Bendis' run ending in 2012, and Hickman running from 2012 to 2015 I suppose they're still within the edge of 'recent memory'.
Morrison run was great but marred by the shitty Howard Porter artwork and editorial mandates fricking with the characters he was using (most notably Superman who was going through his Electric Blue era)
