I've been "watching" Delicious in Dungeon in dubbed basically putting them in the background while I work, its fine I guess. I tried doing that to Spy x Family and the dub is fricking horrible.

Why is it that when japanese dub american cartoons it's seen as funny or epic but when americans dub japanese cartoons it's seen as tasteless and disrespectful.

it mostly stemmed that most american dubs are horrible back then. The only one that I can think of that were good dubs are Cromartie High School and 1 more anime that I can't seem to remember right now. rest are fricking garbage from what I've heard.

Name ONE example of someone claiming this. You can't.

I bet if you dug deep enough in Japanese otaku culture you'd find a group of people who did find it disrespectful.
Personally I think you should go for the original language in all cases. It's what the work was built around. Dubs just look and feel cheap, you can tell right away it's not the original voice track just by how their mouths move. The fundamental fact that the voice actors have to squeeze their lines into existing video impacts the quality of the whole thing. Lines will be edited down, characters will talk too fast, there'll be awkward pauses, etc etc.

Dragon Ball Z English dub is objectively superior. homosexuals who say FOOREEZA and prefer granny voice Goku are moronic.

      >Dragon Ball Z English dub is objectively superior.
You're objectively wrong. Dragon Ball and Z censors EVERYTHING and ruins jokes by altering or editing them out altogether while also hiring literal amateur actors who can't deliver lines properly. Also the Goku granny meme is so dumb. She's voiced Goku since he was a little kid 40 years ago. If you start from the beginning and see Goku progress with age, you appreciate her performance and how she is capable of manipulating her cadence, tone, and voice to fit the character's personality. She's a professional voice actor who's been working since the days of the original Astro Boy. It's her job to make you suspend your disbelief. You however have trouble doing that because you've never actually seen the shows and instead saw one clip of her doing the voice on youtube and went full moron. Do yourself a favor and educate yourself and get some decent taste,

An example of this is in Dragon Ball

For context, In a scene involving Roshi and Crane, Crane's Pupil Tien had just beaten Yamcha in the Tenkaichi Tournament. Now everyone is sitting having a meal afterwards. Crane who is sitting behind Roshi decides to spark up a conversation with Tien talking shit about how it wasn't even a competition and just shitting on Roshi's Pupils. Here's what happened
        >Roshi gets up
        >proceeds to slowly walk backwards towards Crane
        >silently farts
        >walks back to his table to sit down
        >delayed reaction
        >Crane freaks out covering his nose b***hing at Roshi
That shit is so fricking funny in the sub and the joke is RUINED in the dub. This is what they did
        >Crane is talking shit
        >Roshi gets up
        >slowly walks backwards
        >mumbles the words "if you got something to say, say it to my face" to Crane even though there is NO dialogue said in that moment in the original
        >walks back to his seat
        >delayed reaction
        >Crane gets up covering his nose and says "I can't stand the stench of a loser".
They censored a fart joke. A fricking fart joke. It's bad enough when they censor everything else in that shit dub like the hilarious gag where Bulma calls General Blue gay for not being attracted to her but this level of butchering happens ALL THE TIME in the dub. I understand that this aired on American television so obviously they would want to censor some of the more perverted dialogue but they even censor a harmless funny fart joke. It's embarrassing and there's no way I could ever go back and watch this shit dubbed ever again. There's no redeeming qualities. If you are a fan and don't want to watch a heavily altered version of the show take my advice, ONLY watch the OG.

My black friend gives me shit for this. I am not watching female voice Goku. Why is most Japanese dubbing done by women?

Goku specifically because she obviously voiced him originally as a child, which is normal for western cartoons as well. However, Japanese are really fricking autistic about replacing voice actors, even when it's entirely appropriate like a boy growing into a man or unavoidable because of schedule conflicts with the actors (or just being dead)

A good exaple is Sayla Mass from Mobile Suit Gundam. She's the series' main rival's sister and basically the Abel to his Cain. Her relationship with him and the main protagonist was an extremely important part of the original series. However, her voice actress liked to go on Safaris all the time so she's absent from the sequel series and movie and the characters never appeared together again despite the potential for storytelling that was there.

        >However, Japanese are really fricking autistic about replacing voice actors
This isn't even true and I don't get why people keep saying it. They replace actors ALL the time. The reason why they kept Goku's voice is because she was literally the best person to paly the character regardless of his age. Hell, she was hand picked by Toriyama himself.

They replaced the entire cast of the Rurouni Kenshin and Urusei Yatsura for the remakes. They obviously don't care about changing voice actors.

At first it looked nothing. The beginning boring, almost comic. Just a boy with a tail, flying around on a cloud poking some cute girls underwear. Then suddenly; Dragonballs! And a perverted old man on Island transforming the narrative into such delight! This was no animation done by a western gajin! This was art l'd never seen.
Filled with such longing, such unfulfillable longing. It seemed to me that I was witnessing the work of God.
