The show needed way more than 8 episodes or longer runtimes for each episode, Viv is really dumb for working under these conditions when she clearly has a lot more to say but she's essentially condensing her points down due to how little time she has for each setpiece.
I liked it a lot, but it is the first song where I actually agree with the people who say the pacing is too fast. Mainly because of the extremely quick Adam revealing extermination, then Sera immediately copping to it and everyone instantly understanding everything about it right away. The ending where Adam reveals Vaggie is an exexorcist could have been better, too. That part seemed awkward.
I get the idea. A lot of musicals tend to have these big chaotic songs where the cast goes crazy and the plot turns into a roller coaster usually leading into either the second half or the final act.
It just doesn't work when it all hinges on characters we just met.

If we're talking about irl Christianity, then prior the incarnation was sent to hades/sheol, whether righteous or not. What does that picture even have to do with Christianity? The Aesir pantheon is part of the nordic mythos, which begins much later in time to the abrahamic faiths. They have little to nothing in common and the only reason you would make a connection is because when the nordics got Christenized the missionaries had to incorporate their beliefs into the wider christian mythos, but then those additions were dropped as the faith in the Aesir fell.

Adam is probably dying, sadly. Dont know about Lute, maybe she is getting offed too. Issue there is then that heaven runs out of antagonists for season 2 until they introduce one new.
The problem is if they take away Adam, Lute inherently becomes boring because she no longer has anyone to bounce off of, she either gets an incredibly contrived redemption arc or becomes a boring stock stoic villain or a generic "villain losing their sanity". You need someone with Adam's charisma and juvenile comedic timing in order to make her fun on camera.
I'm gonna be honest, the weirdest aspect of Vivzie to me is that the more she develops any given character, the less interesting they become. Fizz and Angel Dust being the exceptions because their arcs are the only ones which feel like genuine extensions of their characters without much need to retcon stuff in.
Her way of developing characters reminds me of how a lot of anime flashback in entire backstories, but she forgets the part where those backstories are usually there to explain bits and pieces of character that were already visible and were presented when we already knew pivotal emotional moments were coming

Angel Dust annoys me, but he's the only one in the series with a character arc so far. I like Adam and Lute, but they really don't get me invested in any way beyond liking their designs and chemistry. Viv seems to have spent at least two separate episodes setting up that Alastor is not powerful enough to confront Lucifer directly, not mentally strong to beat him in mind games, is enslaved by his wife, and smiles as a poker face deal, which is to say, every time he had an eye twitch he was just fricking utterly fuming on the inside and you can tally those if you'd like.
I was worried she'd wank Alastor, but thus far she's kind of bullying him a lot. I love it.
In the very same episode he shows he can't match Lucifer he becomes giant and kills a bunch of demons. Yeah he did this to "blow some steam off" because he was mad but it's still a good feat to show he is pretty up there in the ranking. He could beat a human like Adam.
We haven't actually seen Adam fight. It's possible he's very overpowered if he takes things seriously for a moment. Being the first human hand created by the heavenly powers probably comes with some benefits.
Adam isn't just 'a human', he's the human in charge of the exorcist force. He's presumably not a pushover, no the least because he's witty enough to frick with the holographic tech the way he did. He's also going to be armed to the teeth with angelic weapons, which mean that if Alastor makes himself a big target, he'll just make it easier to land a permanent hit on him. The Overlords are the peak of human-accessible power in Hell, barring Lilith who's just below Lucifer in strength and who we'll ignore because God knows how she got there, and if Adam is equivalent to that (which kind of makes sense, as he's the closest thing to an Overlord in Heaven, probably), it'd be at best an even fight, and at worst Alastor would have to pull mind tricks and frick with Adam's head.
That's all forgetting that Adam is Adam, and if he can't himself fight, he'll be surrounded by Exterminators. Best of luck to Alastor in getting through them.

A sinner will regenerate from any harm in due time, unless you use an angelic weapon. Angelic weapons also seem to be remarably powerful compared to regular ones, since precisely those were meant to be used to kill Stolas, a Goetia.

Yeah, he's antagonized Lucifer, the head of a family that's extremely powerful but markedly unwilling to actually put the boot down, in a safe-ish environment (Charlie is there to bail him out if things get really bad), in an attempt to get back at probably Lucifer's wife by annoying the man himself. Alastor didn't jump at Lucifer with a knife, he just annoyed him and hit him in a very obvious emotional spot, because he's canonically smart enough to pick his fights. Not much is wanky about that.

I keep seeing mentions of this whole reincarnation / sinners can’t die thing but there’s nothing in the actual show yet that points to that being canon. I’ve never even heard of it until looking through these threads. To the average viewer who doesn’t know much about Vivzie, they’re going to think that every death is a perma death, which might get narratively confusing for the general audience if the opposite is true but never actually stated.
I still think Charlie’s story book has to be just some propaganda her parents told her, it makes no sense for there to be no God and how the story paints both Lucifer and Lilith as totally did nothing wrong.
Logically I can buy that Lucifer would lie to his daughter to make himself look better, because he's the devil, but in terms of story context it's also plausible he's telling the truth because of how sympathetic he's portrayed in general.

By all rights Lucifer should be thought of as the strongest angel. I can't say if the show will stick to that. Also consider that Alastor represents a preChristian interpretation of Lucifer... they are the same person as told by different interpretations of the same mythology.

I think one of my issues is that until Vaggie's reveal none of the people looking for redemption have really done much serious harm to others. Sir Pentious is played as a joke, Angel is mostly just hurting himself, maybe with Husk they'll go into what he did in his overlord days. Even with Vaggie her murdering is just nonspecific characters, for now at least. I just think when redemption is such a major theme in your show, dealing with the harm you specifically placed on others would be good. Like maybe have a character who was a friend/family member of someone Vaggie killed, or have a character that Husk used to own show up.

What if this season is about Adam rekindling with the sinners since his songs are ultimately about the doubt he has for them and the chances they’ve squandered to end up there. The worst thing Adam has done is punish them and making it more extreme when they start getting confident that they can kill him and his angels. But don’t forget, that Adam had to let go of Eve because of the higher powers, so he couldn’t cheat the system to get whatever he wanted from it. He has to accept the results. If Hell is forever, losing Eve is forever.

Realistically what else could Vaggie do to help Charlie besides support and work at the hotel. She doesn't have magic "make everyone behave" angel powers.
Besides honesty being a good thing in a relationship I'll give you an example. She had intimate knowledge of both Adam and the inner workings of heaven. Knowledge Charlie could've used in her (still futile mind you) attempts to figure out a way to either make the Hotel work or find a way to talk to any non exterminator angel without involving her father. It's not a big deal to me but it is for Charlie if that makes sense.

I get the pilot is what hooked people, but the only thing at fault was that there wasn't a big watermark saying 'SUBJECT TO CHANGE' the whole time, because god damn the changes are pretty significant and for the better in most cases.

Redemption hotel was the initial marketed premise.

Season 1 has basically gone at breakneck speed and introduced a new plot and new characters virtually every episode.
The hotel stuff has been the most boring part of the show because emotionally idrc about any of these people yet, but yeh the premise is basically dead.

For what it's worth, this definitely should have been something where the first couple of episodes are getting to know the main characters better other than what Husk and Angel get up to in Episode 4 and the little droplets of what Alastor, Vaggie, and Charlie get indirectly.
The pacing issue is definitely the result of low episode counts honestly, it really would have been better to have this kind of stakes to worry about amidst Charlie's efforts in stopping extermination but instead they're gonna force basically downtime by killing off their main opposition for a time so that we can get to learn more about them before probably Season 3 picks back up with them for some big conflict.
Adam and Lute are villains who would never care about the hotel working or not. It makes sense season 1 has them neutralized and then Charlie gets a deal with Heaven to put the hotel on an official trial, with the the exterminations coming back if the hotel doesn't work and the rest of hell wants to rebel (which the Vs most definitely want).
I like your idea anon, was going to argue it might have been better to set up conflict with the Vs if they simply just pushed back Heaven for an unknown amount of time by killing Adam (thus setting Lute up to have her revenge), but now Charlie tries to just instead make Hell a better place which is in direct contrast to the Vs.
But with how you put it, there's definitely a way to make it so the Vs trying to instigate war rather than peace could cause conflict with three parties on the line.
Lute without Adam is mega cringe. Double if they make her a lesbian.

Could she have a pretty lame arc though..? Yeah, probably, but at the same time, I think she has a lot of great potential as a far more aggressive villain with some genuine rivalries with so far, at least two-four of the main cast depending on how you spin things.

No. It’s because unmasking Adam is a bigger deal. The point of Adam and Lute is to complete Adam with a new Eve and to complete Lute with an Adam.

The show needed way more than 8 episodes or longer runtimes for each episode, Viv is really dumb for working under these conditions when she clearly has a lot more to say but she's essentially condensing her points down due to how little time she has for each setpiece.

I liked it a lot, but it is the first song where I actually agree with the people who say the pacing is too fast. Mainly because of the extremely quick Adam revealing extermination, then Sera immediately copping to it and everyone instantly understanding everything about it right away. The ending where Adam reveals Vaggie is an exexorcist could have been better, too. That part seemed awkward.

Vaggie at least at an earlier point had a human backstory, and it never came up in any way in the show, so I can't imagine that it was a fake one she made up, since, again. Never came up in the show. Adam is probably dying, sadly. Dont know about Lute, maybe she is getting offed too. Issue there is then that heaven runs out of antagonists for season 2 until they introduce one new.
The problem is if they take away Adam, Lute inherently becomes boring because she no longer has anyone to bounce off of, she either gets an incredibly contrived redemption arc or becomes a boring stock stoic villain or a generic "villain losing their sanity". You need someone with Adam's charisma and juvenile comedic timing in order to make her fun on camera.

I'm gonna be honest, the weirdest aspect of Vivzie to me is that the more she develops any given character, the less interesting they become. Fizz and Angel Dust being the exceptions because their arcs are the only ones which feel like genuine extensions of their characters without much need to retcon stuff in.
Her way of developing characters reminds me of how a lot of anime flashback in entire backstories, but she forgets the part where those backstories are usually there to explain bits and pieces of character that were already visible and were presented when we already knew pivotal emotional moments were coming

Viv is capable of genuinely good ideas, but I think she mostly wants to do artsy stuff as in visuals, tone and songs more than actually crunch through narrative and characterization. HH has all the elements that would make for an interesting series, she just doesnt really work with those and mostly uses the setting as a vehicle for the songs, emotions and unsubtle messages she wants to push.

Angel Dust annoys me, but he's the only one in the series with a character arc so far. I like Adam and Lute, but they really don't get me invested in any way beyond liking their designs and chemistry. We haven't actually seen Adam fight. It's possible he's very overpowered if he takes things seriously for a moment. Being the first human hand created by the heavenly powers probably comes with some benefits.

The Overlords are the peak of human-accessible power in Hell, barring Lilith who's just below Lucifer in strength and who we'll ignore because God knows how she got there, and if Adam is equivalent to that (which kind of makes sense, as he's the closest thing to an Overlord in Heaven, probably), it'd be at best an even fight, and at worst Alastor would have to pull mind tricks and frick with Adam's head.
That's all forgetting that Adam is Adam, and if he can't himself fight, he'll be surrounded by Exterminators. Best of luck to Alastor in getting through them.

I keep seeing mentions of this whole reincarnation / sinners can’t die thing but there’s nothing in the actual show yet that points to that being canon. I’ve never even heard of it until looking through these threads. To the average viewer who doesn’t know much about Vivzie, they’re going to think that every death is a perma death, which might get narratively confusing for the general audience if the opposite is true but never actually stated.

I still think Charlie’s story book has to be just some propaganda her parents told her, it makes no sense for there to be no God and how the story paints both Lucifer and Lilith as totally did nothing wrong.

The extermination can only be stopped by Adam. And because he is the one that manages them, he can make exchanges on who gets killed or not based on newfound policies.

I think one of my issues is that until Vaggie's reveal none of the people looking for redemption have really done much serious harm to others. Sir Pentious is played as a joke, Angel is mostly just hurting himself, maybe with Husk they'll go into what he did in his overlord days. Even with Vaggie her murdering is just nonspecific characters, for now at least. I just think when redemption is such a major theme in your show, dealing with the harm you specifically placed on others would be good. Like maybe have a character who was a friend/family member of someone Vaggie killed, or have a character that Husk used to own show up.

What if this season is about Adam rekindling with the sinners since his songs are ultimately about the doubt he has for them and the chances they’ve squandered to end up there. The worst thing Adam has done is punish them and making it more extreme when they start getting confident that they can kill him and his angels. But don’t forget, that Adam had to let go of Eve because of the higher powers, so he couldn’t cheat the system to get whatever he wanted from it. He has to accept the results. If Hell is forever, losing Eve is forever.
I dunno, I'm not too confident they'll do anything with Adam besides keeping him as an irredeemable butthole. But maybe they'll surprise me.

Realistically what else could Vaggie do to help Charlie besides support and work at the hotel. She doesn't have magic "make everyone behave" angel powers.
Besides honesty being a good thing in a relationship I'll give you an example. She had intimate knowledge of both Adam and the inner workings of heaven. Knowledge Charlie could've used in her (still futile mind you) attempts to figure out a way to either make the Hotel work or find a way to talk to any non exterminator angel without involving her father. It's not a big deal to me but it is for Charlie if that makes sense.

Redemption hotel was the initial marketed premise.

For a show about sinners in hell trying to be redeemed you think they'd elaborate more on their past lives. It would've been fine if they wrote it off as "you forgot your past life when you die" but nope that isn't true given what episode 5 says.
It's literally confirmed we'll start seeing their human backstories in season 2.

I agree, but I also believe this would've been better if it were a S1 cliffhanger. Spend time with the Hotel Plot, show that the Hotel actually works (not in the rushed way the show did) and THEN drop the bombshell that Heaven doesn't care.
I think we can all agree the pacing is fricked I'm just doing some wishful thinking.
For what it's worth, this definitely should have been something where the first couple of episodes are getting to know the main characters better other than what Husk and Angel get up to in Episode 4 and the little droplets of what Alastor, Vaggie, and Charlie get indirectly.
The pacing issue is definitely the result of low episode counts honestly, it really would have been better to have this kind of stakes to worry about amidst Charlie's efforts in stopping extermination but instead they're gonna force basically downtime by killing off their main opposition for a time so that we can get to learn more about them before probably Season 3 picks back up with them for some big conflict.
Adam and Lute are villains who would never care about the hotel working or not. It makes sense season 1 has them neutralized and then Charlie gets a deal with Heaven to put the hotel on an official trial, with the the exterminations coming back if the hotel doesn't work and the rest of hell wants to rebel (which the Vs most definitely want).
I like your idea anon, was going to argue it might have been better to set up conflict with the Vs if they simply just pushed back Heaven for an unknown amount of time by killing Adam (thus setting Lute up to have her revenge), but now Charlie tries to just instead make Hell a better place which is in direct contrast to the Vs.
But with how you put it, there's definitely a way to make it so the Vs trying to instigate war rather than peace could cause conflict with three parties on the line.
