At the height of ragefaces there were mall kiosks selling print-on-demand shirts and mugs and other throwaway merch of them, which made people realize how oversaturated they were, and stop posting them. Wojaks have merch now too, but Gen Z and Gen Alpha gobble that shit up. They actually ENJOY the consumerization of their memes. It's a far cry from the early internet where memes had a shelf life of a few months before they got stale, or were abandoned when another site/community picked them up.

And at least certain ones, like the two pointing jaks, can actually be funny if someone is actually creative enough with it. Ragefaces died out because they were never funny in the first place and seeing 10 year old Kevins wearing rageface shirts made everyone realize how lame they were. Same with advice animals. For as much as people like to go on about how good old Cinemaphile was, it produced some of the shittiest and unfunniest memes the internet has ever seen.
