Realistically I'd guess apple tv has been mostly a bust and they are looking for any reasonable revenue streams to give it some legs. Maybe offset infrastructure costs to comcast or something.

I think Apple expected it be one of it's tentpoles that would bring subscribers in, but it didn't and every other one of their series is around a 7/10.
They're going to start bundling these streaming services that aren't able to stand on their own (Paramount, peawiener, etc.) together or attach them to better ones that people already have. It's a survival move.

For me it's Paramount, Starz and HBO. If any movie I want to see is on streaming then it's usually one of those services.
