        most people here are like

I haven’t heard of most of these people and can’t believe anyone would buy any of their work. the comics industry feels like such a front. Like none of it is actually a real, viable business.

        >Richard pace
Didn’t that scumbag run a crowdfunding campaign and then never fulfilled the orders?

and have no fricking clue about comic artists or anything that has to do with the industry beyond clickbait articles trying to sell $40 kickstarter comics by aging gen Xers who hire brazillians to draw their comics. There's maybe 4 people here who have actually gotten close enough in the industry to have an ear as to what's going on.

Anon was acting like pointing out most of these people are literal who’s made someone moronic. Then disappeared when asked to prove they’re familiar with most of them.

              >even I only know some of them
So then you should be offended by anons suggestion as well.

I don’t get offended by nonsense.

Besides anon is right, plenty of people in that list are prominent names or multiple awards recipients. Just because you don’t know them doesn’t make them literal whos.

                I don’t have absolute knowledge.

The ones I know are prominent, I’m gonna assume some of those I don’t know are prominent too.

Again, just because you yourself (or I) don’t know them doesn’t mean they’re literal whos.

There really is no need to get this bent out of shape yknow

It's not that's why comics is fricking dying. Not sure why some illustration agency is dropping all its clients all of a sudden factors into that though.

Also why is this thread autists trying to derail whatever actual story there is here with stupid dick measuring about who is or isn't a "literally who"?

Getting some kind of government funding from Blackrock and ESG scores, right? Marvel and DC are in no way sustainable on their own. They would’ve been bankrupt over a decade ago without them.

As for these little mysterious companies, maybe money laundering? How can one comic company employ all those “comic artists” yet nobody has heard or bought from them?

          Anonymous

They don't employ the artists, you spastic. It's just an art gallery, they sell original art on consignment.

      Goddamn that’s a lot of people…

So from what I’ve seen there’s rumors of skimming off the top, as well as issues with delivering the art clients paid for. Most people who defected say that they’ll manage the unfulfilled orders as best they can

This seems to be what is being implied between the lines with what some of the artists have been saying. Here's a quote from comic artist Yildray Cinar posted on facebook and referred in a comicsbeat article:
        >I am no longer represented by Cadence Comic Art. Inquiries regarding any unfulfilled orders should be directed to Cadence, as the artists lack involvement in their sales and fulfillment.

At this point you may as well wait until an official story comes out. Usually if this many people aren't saying anything more than boilerplate then that means lawyers are involved. The guy demanding some insider just magically show up and spill the beans is just being a drama baby who can't read between the lines.

This isn’t an agent in terms of publishing deals this is an art dealer, basically a middle man between artist and customer.

Imagine having a business that relies on what remains of the US Postal Service not destroying fragile items and placing your trust in LaTrina to find the right address while she’s yammering into her phone

They could have, and should have, used a trusted third party who won’t engage in hand offs. Or ship with hard plastic inside the cardboard like slabs for comics. This raises the price however and most commissioned art is overpriced as it is. Beside the fact that they seem like they were dirtbag schemers and didn’t care about the art or customer experience.

That being said, Comic Artists don’t seem realize that paintings from similarly well-known artists cost anywhere from 1200-1500 and up the more famous they are. charging 500-600 let alone more for uncolored linework of characters that show up in comics weekly and have millions of fan art pieces online that look just as good is frankly absurd.

for many, the pieces (and their names) simply aren’t worth enough for them to have an art dealer, in all honesty. This is why many people have a significant other or kid (if they’re older) run that stuff like a family business. After the dealers cut you end up getting less than you would if you just took on the stress and effort of shipping them yourself.
