Can anybody explain why a movie from 25 years ago is breaking box office records?

People want to see how bad it is for themselves.
Because it is a good movie.
1. this movie was always popular
2. it's star wars
3. it's memed by the entire internet more than you can possibly imagine
4. visually it's a nice movie
5. nothing new in theaters right now is good
>visually it's a nice movie
All of the real sets are nice, but the excessive use of 90s CG makes so many scenes look incredibly ugly and fake. The juxtaposition is actually pretty jarring.
If you are watching the terrible bluray scan, but if you are watching it on film stock it looks great, there's occasionally janky bits, the jar jar fight at the end is bad, but other stuff is surprisingly good
This version being shown now uses the BD master
Then it's shit.
So you are saying I am watching a better version at home than what people paid for, my 35mm eurorip has some dirt and specs but it looks nice otherwise.
>nothing new in theaters right now is good
I liked the fall guy
Because even our shitty movies from back then run circles around 90 percent of modern output.
Why must everyting be shitty or the best film ever though. The Phantom Menace was always a decent 6 or 7 if you really love it.
>The Phantom Menace was always a decent 6 or 7 if you really love it.
people can only think hyperbolically. the prequels are pretty mid with some goofy dialog and crappy cg, but they're not these utterly unforgivable catastrophes where watching them makes it so that george lucas gets a time machine and violently ass-rapes you as a child while doing a jar-jar voice that people make them out to be
Because it's kino infinitely better than anything being produced nowadays.
What other movies are even on right now?
I expect only Revenge of the Sith will hit number 1
I thought that was Rey at first
brand recognition and zoomer childhood nostalgia.
Star Wars hasn't been in theaters since 2005.
It has many times, but continue acting like a four year old over things that upset you.
This happened before in the 90s when the special editions of the OT got theatrical releases. Seeing a New Hope on the big screen was totally radical, dude.
Merely a coincidence
imagine a handjob with that grip though
only if your penis were made of gold
I came so hard to portman's ass twice last night
I hope she knows about this, homosexual
Well she doesn't dude and I wasn't expecting her
I usually just cum to her fat ass cheeks, I can never tell if the hole is a shadow
I can never see the porthole, no matter how much it's pointed out . She has a seriously nice pussy unless that leggings cameltoe is shopped.
>She has a seriously nice pussy unless that leggings cameltoe is shopped.
you cant just say things like that and not post pics anon
It's one of the best SW movies. Silent majority wins at last.
I like the movie but it's one of the weakest imo. Episode II is the best prequel I will die on that hill.
New movies bad, old movies good
it didn't break any records
There is an entire Chud movement dedicated to trying to prove that modern Hollywood is finished and people only care about old movies now so they try to achieve that by paying Disney to watch to the worst Star Wars movie ever made
Chuds really need to stop.
I like Portman's butthole, I will admit.
More like Porthole, am I right?
When even shit like this is winning at the box office you know Hollywood had really fricked up
to be fair you could rerelease all Star Wars movies every couple years in the months of Jan-May and they would dominate almost all the time
April and May used to be the pre-summer season with blockbusters playing until the end of August, movie theaters are collapsing before your eyes
They should re-release TLJ then.
They don't just pick a number out of a hat anon, you wouldn't only re-release Episode 8 unless it's an anniversary. Sorry the movie has made you this butthurt 8 years later. Granted it's the best movie.
>8 years later
Hey, they should re-release TLJ for the 10th anniversary, it will make mega billions.
They didn't rerelease the phantom menace in 2009 for it's 10th. Mark Hamill's best acting performance is in TLJ.
A modern re-release of a 2002 direct-to-video movie could probably make the top 10 on opening weekend
Unironically because old good > new bad.
>Unironically because of reality
What did anon mean by this?
Natalie's port is just that inviting, man.
Modern movies are that shitty. There are zero exciting movies made today.
zoomers understand this masterpiece while shitty boommers and millennials couldnt
More like zoomers have grown up with absolute dogshit as their contemporary movies. Making even a shitshow like Phantom Menace look good in comparisson. Honestly i cant blame em, modern movies are really that fricking bad that EVEN fricking phantom menace looks good in comparisson.
>grown up with absolute dogshit
Half of the problem is they have no ability to watch anything obscure. They consoom only the worst of the lot.
zoomers are brainwashed by memes
most people think the movie was okay not a kino like it's memed
Does Disney or George get the money from this?
I don’t know, did George Lucas famously sell the rights to the Star Wars franchise to zDisney or not?
Lucas is majority Disney dhareholder and Igger shill, so yes.
What records, moron? Are they records for 25 year old re-releases?
>that look she gives him
hey dickhead
why don't you tell me what movie it didn't beat
The tip of her tongue is the same color as her butthole.
What record?
arrr i heard thar be a warm water port near by, arrrr
Lots of kids never got see the movies on the big screen, but they grew up with all the movies, shows, and games. Starwars used to have an incredibly long tail as interested kids grew into paying customers. Disney has wrecked this, the new movies don't appeal to kids so the setup never happened, toys and games set in Disney-verse are poison. Disney used to be the king of pipelining kids into customers, but they fricked everything recent up by trying to steer the audience instead of visa versa. Big D is trying to dictate what people like, and people aren't impressed.
