The OT, along with all of Star Wars, was a long time ago.
Yes because those movies withstood the test of time and remain beloved even by people unfamiliar with the grander narratives just because as movies on their own they stand up.
The same can't be said of the sequels.

If the first Star Wars films you saw were not the original trilogy, then you can't be a Star Wars fan. I grew up on the OT. TPM came out when I was 8.

Born after the OT but still was raised on them, also love the prequels even though EP 1 & 2 sucked ass. Im older now and still enjoy them anything after ROTJ is garbage, even though i still enjoy Rogue One, some of Mando, Bad Batch, clone wars, rebels. I dont buy any new merch whatsoever and the last time I saw a star wars movie in theaters was Force awakens, boy was that a waste of time and money
