I think it has more to do with that every once in a while they realize that they shouldn't try to be the Simpson's of the Golden age, and try to be their own thing.

He's not wrong. From what I've seen of the current season, it's okay. It's not "season 3-6" good, but more along the lines of when Stephen Hillenberg returned to Spongebob for a season or two before he died. Not spectacular, but better than the cookie cutter plots the show has been doing for the past decade.

Now that that India guy got every show to recast their non-white characters, I don't see why they don't just outright recast her. Somebody else can probably almost do that voice.
