>No nomination to neither Oscar or Annies >After 2 months it ended their run on 233M with a 200M budget
Yep it's a failure both financially and artistically,i truly want to know what happened behind the scenes there no way no one realize the product was this low quality
Jennifer Lee happened. She fueled around with the story. She wrote the script, and even if Buck or Vera rejected the idea, Lee would veto the rejection as CCO. Lee got rid of twink boy because she didn't want a romance to hold back the protagonist. Asha was a commoner because she had to be a completely ordinary person with no talents or abilities. The queen couldn't be evil because Lee will never allow for girls to fight in anything she makes. The music sucked. Disney approached both the Lopezes and LMM but both refused because they had only three months to compose everything. "This Wish" was generic as frick because the writer had no idea what the wish was even about.
>Tries to hype up Villain being a "return to form". >Has a vague sympathetic backstory that could be taken at face value or not, has a motivation for what he does that can be taken as selfishness or caution based on his vague backstory and only becomes truly evil when possessed by evil book
What did they mean by this?
It means that there was a lot of studio meddling and rewrites. He was likely meant to be a sympathetic villain or not even a villain, but the story was rewritten to make him the villain and they didn't look at the bigger picture.
>only becomes truly evil when possessed by evil book >His wife had the tools to prevent this. >She withheld it from her husband for no apparent reason
...Sure, okay, whatever.
The real question is, will the failure of this movie, which was supposed to celebrate 100 years of the corporation, make Disney finally realize things need to change?
It needs a sequel that expands on the elements the earlier drafts had like Amaya being evil and Star being Asha's love interest.
A sequel where Amaya has a twin sister or hell; it doesn't even have to be a TS, it can be some evil white magic lady that shapeshifts into Amaya to besmirch her name and release Magnifico because she's in love with him.
It has been written off as a failure the moment it came out in theaters, anon.
The script writers were completely incompetent.
The artists behind this project were quite literally working on this thing per commission and with no clear unique style and little to no time.
And on top of that Disney has literally been antagonizing their own audience.
It's already been recognized as a failure for a while now. I don't know what else you want
And people will tell you that it will win the oscar anyways
Only because it's Disney, not because they think it's actually good
Never underestimate conspiracy theorists, right?
It's not nominated, moron.
It'll will anyways because that's how moronic conspiracy theorists are
Are these moronic conspiracy theorists in the room right now?
Just look at
Except that guy admits it won't win, because it didn't get a nom in the first place.
Oscars do no matter
I want Magnifico in KH4 as a sympathetic overworked wizard who has ties to Merlin, Yen Sid and the Fairy Godmother.
>didn't get a pity Oscar nomination
>not even after they disqualified the Mario movie because Chris Pratt went to church once
a complete failure
>>not even after they disqualified the Mario movie because Chris Pratt went to church once
Are you moronic or just a nintendie?
Mario wasn't great, but did you see the nominees for animated oscars? Mario got snubbed.
Disney is holding onto their last hope that it'll take off once it's available on Disney+.
Has anyone tried to claim it's not a failure?

It means that the writer doesn't know how to show a character develop, so she basically uses the asspull of "its magic".
It means that there was a lot of studio meddling and rewrites. He was likely meant to be a sympathetic villain or not even a villain, but the story was rewritten to make him the villain and they didn't look at the bigger picture.

he was probably meant to be a twist villain and then they realized people hated those so they quickly changed it

I knew Cinemaphile was a lefty shithole full of pedophile trannies but this takes the cake
Damn bro. You sure do carry a heavy burden.
What will you do now that you know 3 people posted twice in a thread?
>finally
We did that before it released, keep up dipshit.
The real question is, will the failure of this movie, which was supposed to celebrate 100 years of the corporation, make Disney finally realize things need to change?
No, it's the Chuds who are wrong.
Disney hasn't fired Jennifer Lee, so no.
The real question is when we can expect to see the result. I bet right now that everything in production is getting redone
I bet Iger and the board are too preoccupied with an activist takeover to be concerned with the quality of content coming from their studios.
Disney has Star Wars and the MCU, they will never have to worry about anything ever again.
Even Hazbin Hotel blows this garbage out of the water. Disney is shit.
So she wished to turn from a brown girl to a white elderly lady. Problematic?
Are you sexist or racist?
OP's a sexy racist.

Also, a scene where Asha's braids are taken down and her hair is loose and flowing just for marketability's sake
It has been written off as a failure the moment it came out in theaters, anon.

Well no wonder this thing came out as a failure.
>little to no time.
The fact that their 100th anniversary fricking snuck up on Disney is insane.
