It's stupid, but what makes it genuinely dumb is that there is legitimately a numerical calculation for most transformations. Granted, it's based on ambiguous factors, but it starts with Kaoiken x10, x20, whatever, and then just gets worse from there. Also the fact that very few fights have any real choreography and are just characters talking for two epidodes then teleporting, talking for two more episodes, charging a giant laser, then talking and shaking hands. Unironically all of this is why Dragon Ball was better. There was more going on than just another doomsday plot. It's also why, and I'm just going to say it; Goku was the worst part of Dragon Ball. Every time he did some shit that teased what became the worst parts of DBZ (I.E. firing his first kamehameha on instinct) is an eye-roller. People who say GT was gay for how Goten and Trunks trivialized everything clearly were not paying attention during DBZ, or DB if they even watched it. Every single DBZ antagonist is beaten by their own arrogance, except Raditz, to some degree.

The power scaling is severly toned down or even backward. Krillin and Roshi are relevant again. 17 won the ToP.
The gi symbols indiciated which teachers made him a badass. But by the Cell saga, he had won so many battles that the gi itself was enough to mark him out as #1, because it's Goku's gi.

The gi symbols were like brands, they didn't belong to Goku. They marked him as a pupil to someone else. The blank gi actually felt like Goku's own signature outfit, even though it's hardly any different.
I think the point was that he didn't have it because he was now a master who was training his replacement; Gohan, who ultimately replaces Goku after the latter SUPPOSEDLY fricking dies for the nth and final time as a final lesson. Except they retcon that and now Goku is a literal God and Gohan is sidelined.

Multiple form transformations are incredibly kino especially if they have side effects which explains why they can't just stay in that form forever. You know Dragonball popularized that trope right? Every major villain had multiple forms including some of the protagonists.
