Overemphasis on mildly "serious" plotlines. They start writing the characters more as characters we as an audience should actually care about... which we don't. We only like them because they get into wacky and stupid situations due to their incompetence, not because they're actually endearing.
This was exactly where Modern Family went wrong imo. Heart is fine but no one cares about melodramatic conflict. It was good because it was silly and light.

All the characters have to be stupid for Gizmo’s arch to be any way believable. The writing has definitely become stilted and conflicts are solved by characters just saying, “never mind”
To be honest, I prefer his phoned in jokes more than most of the other post-season 3 jokes. The characters have all become more stupid and he seems to be the least affected.
nadja is also still cute and can be funny. her entire plotline in season 4 sucked but she's okay in 5. colin phones it in a lot and gizmo is outright frustrating to watch. I hate the neighbor character, I like the baron and appreciate that he's used sparingly, and I hate that Kristen schall became a recurring character at all.
Well for starters if it wasn't obvious enough from the first episode that he's gay. They've gradually devoted more and more of the show to reminding you that he's gay if you simply forgot.
he fricking spends the whole show trying to become a vampire and then he is for five minutes and decides he's too squeamish to kill for blood so they just undo it. even though he's a serial killer. despite their attempts to make him into gay van helsing (2004) and show how much he cares, he's still constantly serial killing for five seasons to feed the vampires, and scurrying around burying dead bodies because he's a creepy renfield guy.

I don’t have any proof, but it just seems logical. You have to put the diversity hires somewhere and original talented writers want to write their own projects or get better gigs for more money. The Office went this way.

1 and 2 are pretty good. Three is the fall and most say 4 is the worst and five picks up a bit but only to be slightly better than 4.
1-3 definitely worth. 4 and 5 have a few worthwhile moments but mostly suck.
