What did Van Partible mean by this?
Ritualistic humiliation
These cartoons liked to shit on its main characters and Carl/Pops were like Johnnys only true acquaintances
This is not the only CN cartoon the later they went on the more they went out of their way to shit on the main characters
>Ed,Edd, N Eddy were getting less and less wins until the movie
>Kids Next Door kept mentioned how the main 5 were apparently the worst KND team and other KND teams hated working with them when it made no sense
>Later Dexters Lab seasons
In KND it was more like Numba One's ego made him the worst to work with.
Still I never understood the later episodes kinda shitting on them when they were clearly the best
They were good but they weren't team players. They were all loose cannons without the charisma to get away with it.
I got the impression from later seasons Sector V was kind of like the Dirty Pair, in that most joint operations they’re involved in sends them after big threats and has a bunch of collateral damage, partially but not entirely their fault because they have a tendency for biting off more than they can chew and then somehow being able to deal with it. So anyone they bring along with has a terrible time, and they’re often sent to rescue people in already really shitty situations. Giving the impression that if you’re paired with them or they show up something really fricked is gonna go down.
Yeah, if the world's at stake you can count on them to get the job done. But when you ask them to do something simple, like pick up a pizza, they always frick it up.
You forgot to mention
>Fosters Home
>Courage the Cowardly Dog
>Time Squad
>Billy & Mandy
>Cramp Twins
>Robot Jones
>Samurai Jack
>My Gym Partners a Monkey
>Out of Jimmy’s Head
>Flapjack
>We Bare Bears
>Courage the Cowardly Dog
Ehh I think Courage gets ALOT of wins the only episodes where its annoying is where Eustace ends up being the worse ever like killing the tree of life or hiring the monsters in the worst episode of dodgeball.
>>My Gym Partners a Monkey
That show was never good to begin with.
This is your brain on conspiracy
It's undeniably a common trope for creators to shit on their characters after writing them for a long time. Look at the Seinfeld finale. And even Agatha Christie started hating Hercule Poirot.
It makes sense to be aware of that trope in writing. Sorry you can't see anything without imposing your hangups on it.
I mean they fired him and turned his show into something he didn’t like, it’s understandable.
The only thing that sucks is that the show they turned it into was better than Van’s original vision. Johnny Bravo was ultimately better without all the talking animals and celebrity cameos.
i vehemently disagree. season 1 is fantastic, the rest... is just not good except for sporadic fun moments, usually involving celebrity cameos.
>season 1 is fantastic
And it led to the show almost being cancelled before Tingblad managed to breathe life into it during Partible's absenc, giving us two more seasons of JB.
Then some CN smartass exec thought to himself "if some upstart can do a good job on Johnny Bravo, his creator will do a superb job!" and let Partible back in, leading to shit like
and permanent cancellation of the show.

What did Van Partible mean by this?(OP) and permanent cancellation of the show.
Partible was fired from his own show because he was the inexperienced upstart. Tingblad was the experienced veteran. They put Partible back on it after he had a few more years of experience under his belt. And it got 65 episodes, of course it was going to get cancelled after that. A show would have to do exceptionally well to justify more than that.
I don't think Van Partible hated Carl and Pops, I just think he had no fricking idea what to do with them since they weren't his characters. He left the show and for two seasons he had no involvement, so when he came back he just tired to focus on doing what he knew instead of trying to okay catch-up with the different direction he didn't get.
Both S1 and the Post-Partible episodes had their strengths and weaknesses. The final season was definitely the weakest though, mostly for the aforementioned reasons.
Also, they got rid of Jungle Boy, who I actually liked a lot ): even a cameo or two would've been fine.
Susie was WAY cuter in the last season, though.
>Also, they got rid of Jungle Boy, who I actually liked a lot
Jungle Boy was forced onto Partible because CN demanded a secondary feature in all the Cartoon Cartoons. It's clear that even he didn't like it and swiftly reduced Jungle Boy to cameos after his single solo episode.
It was basically a proto I.M. weasel
I.M. Weasel at least had Michael Dorn doing his Worf voice. Jungle Boy was sickeningly-cute and devoid of anything interesting to justify watching it.
