It seems to be suffering from that "embarrassed of the source material" problem and has abandoned the idea of this ragtag group running black ops to take out supes. Ryan, Lamplighter, A-Train, Stormfront, and Soldier Boy were all outright killed by The Boys in the comics but not in the show. It wants to "be more" with annoying drawn out melodrama.
