Cartoon Network acknowledged Cow & Chicken's anniversary

Surprised they did that since I thought they buried the show, it's not even on HBO Max. Maybe the network's 30th anniversary this year won't be so bad?

It's so odd. The whole point is that acting like Johnny Bravo will get you a beating and disapproval. They're not endorsing his behavior and it's portrayed as born more out of ignorance than any malice.

Could an adult-but-still-wholesome Johnny Bravo work? Or does adult humor and themes kill it?

funny thing is, when they originally tweeted this out it said "Stream Cow and Chicken NOW on HBO Max." then they deleted it shortly afterward and reposted it without an HBO Max mention (which is what's in the OP). either the writer made an honest mistake or they originally planned to shadow drop it today but had to scrap it at the last minute

        Anonymous

This is on latin america so I guess rights may be different than the US

        Anonymous

It's not that they do not have the rights, they wrote it off for tax purposes so are not allowed to directly profit from it (sell dvds/blu-ray, make advertising money off of it, merchandise, etc) since all that belongs to Uncle Sam now.
However, streaming is an interesting grey area. They aren't DIRECTLY profiting from it, merely offering it as part of a wider service. If they are too noisy about it, maybe they could get in trouble.

Hypothetically, you could say they were offering it for free (as part of an HBO Max subscription).

    https://www.cartoonbrew.com/classic/25-years-of-cow-chicken-a-conversation-with-creator-david-feiss-218785.html

    >Interview with David Feiss on Cartoon Brew about making the show.
    >Originated as a bedtime story for his daughter, which he turned into a picture book for pitching the show
    >Cow and Chicken weren't related in that book, just close friends that grew up together before drifting apart in adulthood and coming back together.
    >Red Guy came to David Feiss in a dream, complete with the "Hello, it’s me, the devil, I stand for all that is bad, also I’m naked." introduction that ended up going into the pilot.

      >When the show ended in 1999, did you feel it had run its course or did you want to do more Cow and Chicken episodes?
      >Feiss: I wanted to do more. I guess they felt like it was time to move on to other ideas. But I definitely still have more ideas for Cow, Chicken, and Weasel. I always was hoping that at some point that they would ask for more. But, as of yet, they’ve not.
Why haven’t CN done anything with Cow and Chicken since? Most of the other Cartoon Cartoons got revived one way or anothe, with Dexter and PPG having Savino seasons, Johnny Bravo with different showrunners and Bollywood movie and Courage had the CGI short and Scooby Doo crossover.

Of the What A Cartoon pilots that became a show, C&C is the one used least.
