Wrong. Griffith definitely believed that, or at least liked to believe that he did. He tried to create an emotional gap between himself and his subordinates so that when they died he wouldn't be as crushed. However he still had a huge soft spot for Guts, and like most BPDs when his property tried to leave he sperged out and self-destructed.

It makes Guts and his struggle feel real. Miura didn't pull any punches unlike every other author with their macho protagonists, and consequently Guts turned into the coolest motherfricker around. The prototype actually has the lamest most basic edgelord backstory for him, where he saw his mother get torn apart by demons.
Made him completely untrustworthy of anyone and also flip out with ptsd when anyone got close or touched him. Casca and him getting intimate shows hes somewhat slowly getting over that baggage and letting in other people.
Guts backstory is inetntionally over the top tragic because it justifies why someone can become an Ubermensch. Nobody complains about him being born from a corpse or being used as a child soldier or just generally abused. It can never be canon, but they’re the closer to knowing Miura’s plans than anyone else, and their art and storytelling holds up ok. It’ll never be as good as Miura’s, but is passible. I more or less see it as a fanfic through which are handful of canon plot points are revealed to the public.

the movies are underrated as frick. everyone ignores how well done the main characters were animated because some background literal whos were obviously (but well animated) CG, and those very same homosexuals have zero complaints when the same background literal whos were inanimate or missing entirely in the OG anime.
What I personally find ingenious of Miura is how well the slight of hand writing wise is handled in Berserk. Griffith's endgame for example, should be pretty obvious but it's hidden in the details so damn well that you don't realize because you are so damn mesmerized by the story.
I cannot tell you lads how Berserk ends, but I am pretty sure I know what Griffith intends to do and what the ultimate monkey wrench in all of this will be.

When the count calls the god hand for the second time during his fight with Guts, Slan mentions that "everybody who associates with demons is damned to hell", not just apostles and branded people (as we see Vargas be part of "chains of souls" that drag the count to the abyss). We also see that Griffith goes on a spree of conquest after defeating the Kushans (which results in the realms clashing and becoming overlapped) after using deception to essentially fool everybody into believing he is a messianic savior. He has effectively woo'd the legitimate princess (and thus by marrying him, becoming a legitimate ruler) and the equivalent of the Pope (which in turn grants him spiritual authority) which see a glimpse about in the cathedral scene in Falconia with Soni and Sir Mule. Not to mention the multiple hints we get through out the series, like how the Pope dreams about the falcon of light is going to save us all, while Flora and Schierke have a vision about the falcon of darkness, a bad omen.
Essentially Griffith plans to conquer everything (from the human world to the spiritual world, like the campaign he led to Jotunheim), and proceed to rule as an adored, revered and wise king. Which technically makes everyone his subjects, thus be associated with him, which in turn would damn everybody to the abyss. He will have his kingdom, his realm... But it will not be of this earth.
As for the "monkey wrench" I mentioned, I first have to mention how it is implied that the God Hand, or at least some of them, most likely Void; see the flow of time/causality differently. We do not exactly know how, but I suppose it's safe to speculate it would be something akin to Jedi precognition. Even so, the themes regarding destiny, causality and determinism are heavily present within the story. So it would be only fitting that what throws things out of the loop is something small, something Griffith couldn't have possibly foresee or predict for in his otherwise masaterful plan of pretty much fooling the entire world, but I digress.
So what is the anomaly? It's none other than the demon child, the cursed fetus. The same one that gets eaten by the egg apostle (whose full name is "Egg of the Perfect World") in a random moment of empathy (so it, just like the egg can become a part in birthing something greater than them). That same apostle whose sole purpose was to act as the key and catalyst to give Griffith as Femto the means to manifest in the physical world, to grant him a physical body. So what I suspect is that this creature is now a part of Griffith and though it's beginings were terrible it was still good, not evil as we've seen it protect Guts multiple times. And it is this child that serves as a part, a link, a memory perhaps... Of humanity within Griffith.
Now what that will eventually mean, I know not. But it is these two details that I would say will be crucial into understanding the story and where it is possibly headed and how it will ultimately end. I could be completely wrong of course, but honestly? I doubt it.
Griffith fricked Charlotte the way he wanted Guts to frick him that's why he curls into a ball and scratches himself with shame afterwards. Griffith's entire arc is not being able to admit that he wants it in the bussy from Guts.

I've thought for a long time that Guts fricking that one apostle in the beginning of the series was a huge mistake by Mirua in hindsight and contradicts his character later.
Rickert is the realest homie and this whole thread didn't mention him once. Walks into Griffiths city where he is revered as a living saint and does more damage to him than guts ever did and escaped with his life with Kushan assassins and will come back and finish the job using magic and technology.
I think the story was eventually going to lead to a confrontation between Guts and Griffith where Griffith reveals that he has created a perfect utopia for all of humanity and that he is now the only thing standing between humanity's certain destruction and the other demons. Guts struggles with the Beast of Darkness and his desire for revenge but after being drawn back from the brink by a touch from Casca he ultimately decides that he'd rather spend his life with the people he loves then burn down everything around him in a meaningless quest for revenge.
Griffith has been shown to seemingly have some degree of emotions and empathy in his Hawk of Light form when he last met Guts and his group. It's speculated that this is the result of fusing and sharing a body with Guts and Casca's unborn fetus ( formerly the Demon Child, now speculated to now take the form of the Midnight Child ) during the Tower of Conviction arc.
As a result of this, we might have seen the human part of Griffith reawakened due to sharing a body with Guts and Casca's child and the remnant of the love he has for Guts and Casca causing him to make the decision to allow the Moonlight Boy to take control of their shared body ( as he did recently in a previous chapter ) and live out his life as Guts and Casca's son. In this way, Griffith will have laid down his life having achieved his dream of creating a utopia for humanity while giving back Guts his family by sacrificing himself in the ultimate act of redemption.
That last paragraph is an interesting take, but I still have to say that regardless of it, I don't think Griffith is still a good guy or necessarily get a redemption arch, even though the fetus has most likely given him a shred of his humanity back.

the movies are underrated as frick. everyone ignores how well done the main characters were animated because some background literal whos were obviously (but well animated) CG, and those very same homosexuals have zero complaints when the same background literal whos were inanimate or missing entirely in the OG anime.
What I personally find ingenious of Miura is how well the slight of hand writing wise is handled in Berserk. Griffith's endgame for example, should be pretty obvious but it's hidden in the details so damn well that you don't realize because you are so damn mesmerized by the story.
I cannot tell you lads how Berserk ends, but I am pretty sure I know what Griffith intends to do and what the ultimate monkey wrench in all of this will be.

Griffith's plan is to achieve the original dream he always had; to create his own kingdom. However, after becoming Femto and meeting the idea of evil what that said kingdom actually is changes. When the count calls the god hand for the second time during his fight with Guts, Slan mentions that "everybody who associates with demons is damned to hell", not just apostles and branded people (as we see Vargas be part of "chains of souls" that drag the count to the abyss). We also see that Griffith goes on a spree of conquest after defeating the Kushans (which results in the realms clashing and becoming overlapped) after using deception to essentially fool everybody into believing he is a messianic savior. He has effectively woo'd the legitimate princess (and thus by marrying him, becoming a legitimate ruler) and the equivalent of the Pope (which in turn grants him spiritual authority) which see a glimpse about in the cathedral scene in Falconia with Soni and Sir Mule. Not to mention the multiple hints we get through out the series, like how the Pope dreams about the falcon of light is going to save us all, while Flora and Schierke have a vision about the falcon of darkness, a bad omen.
Essentially Griffith plans to conquer everything (from the human world to the spiritual world, like the campaign he led to Jotunheim), and proceed to rule as an adored, revered and wise king. Which technically makes everyone his subjects, thus be associated with him, which in turn would damn everybody to the abyss. He will have his kingdom, his realm... But it will not be of this earth.

As for the "monkey wrench" I mentioned, I first have to mention how it is implied that the God Hand, or at least some of them, most likely Void; see the flow of time/causality differently. We do not exactly know how, but I suppose it's safe to speculate it would be something akin to Jedi precognition. Even so, the themes regarding destiny, causality and determinism are heavily present within the story. So it would be only fitting that what throws things out of the loop is something small, something Griffith couldn't have possibly foresee or predict for in his otherwise masaterful plan of pretty much fooling the entire world, but I digress.
So what is the anomaly? It's none other than the demon child, the cursed fetus. The same one that gets eaten by the egg apostle (whose full name is "Egg of the Perfect World") in a random moment of empathy (so it, just like the egg can become a part in birthing something greater than them). That same apostle whose sole purpose was to act as the key and catalyst to give Griffith as Femto the means to manifest in the physical world, to grant him a physical body. So what I suspect is that this creature is now a part of Griffith and though it's beginings were terrible it was still good, not evil as we've seen it protect Guts multiple times. And it is this child that serves as a part, a link, a memory perhaps... Of humanity within Griffith.
Now what that will eventually mean, I know not. But it is these two details that I would say will be crucial into understanding the story and where it is possibly headed and how it will ultimately end. I could be completely wrong of course, but honestly? I doubt it.
Griffith fricked Charlotte the way he wanted Guts to frick him that's why he curls into a ball and scratches himself with shame afterwards. Griffith's entire arc is not being able to admit that he wants it in the bussy from Guts.

I think the story was eventually going to lead to a confrontation between Guts and Griffith where Griffith reveals that he has created a perfect utopia for all of humanity and that he is now the only thing standing between humanity's certain destruction and the other demons. Guts struggles with the Beast of Darkness and his desire for revenge but after being drawn back from the brink by a touch from Casca he ultimately decides that he'd rather spend his life with the people he loves then burn down everything around him in a meaningless quest for revenge.
Griffith has been shown to seemingly have some degree of emotions and empathy in his Hawk of Light form when he last met Guts and his group. It's speculated that this is the result of fusing and sharing a body with Guts and Casca's unborn fetus ( formerly the Demon Child, now speculated to now take the form of the Midnight Child ) during the Tower of Conviction arc.
As a result of this, we might have seen the human part of Griffith reawakened due to sharing a body with Guts and Casca's child and the remnant of the love he has for Guts and Casca causing him to make the decision to allow the Moonlight Boy to take control of their shared body ( as he did recently in a previous chapter ) and live out his life as Guts and Casca's son. In this way, Griffith will have laid down his life having achieved his dream of creating a utopia for humanity while giving back Guts his family by sacrificing himself in the ultimate act of redemption.
That last paragraph is an interesting take, but I still have to say that regardless of it, I don't think Griffith is still a good guy or necessarily get a redemption arch, even though the fetus has most likely given him a shred of his humanity back.
