Is this supposed to be memetic warfare? The Empire is portrayed more positively than the 'Republic' ever is. In fact the entire show was a critique on Western Democracy and how inevitably it leads to catastrophic waste, unsustainable growth for the sake of growth, and genuinely is just a tool for religious zealots (in our case israelites) dominating everyone else with compromised institutions.
The empire keeps getting its ass ha dedicado to it by Yang and finally ends up moving into parlamentary monarchy after the last conversation with him. That is the beginning of the end of autocracy.
Yang raped Reinhard militarily and then ideologically.
>ends up moving into parlamentary monarchy
Yeah i'm sure Mittermeyer and Hildegard will keep to that gentleman's agreement Reinhard made with a fricking child lmao, especially since he just gave the empire back their death star.
The FPA army is nearly double the size of the imperial army when the show begins and is only a fraction of it's size by the end, after it's lost and been conquered. Did you even watch the show or were you too low IQ to understand what it is you were actually witnessing?
>Betrays Empire by being dogmatically loyal to the literal heir to the 500 year old dynasty
Technically Reinhard is the traitor, although he was totally justified in doing so. Merkatz's problem, like most old men, was his ego wouldn't let him admit he was wrong about Reinhard and instead of taking accountability for his weakness and judge of character the way Fahrenheit did, he doubled down on it.
Salty that he had to take orders from someone who he deemed "a brat"
Not being able to take direction from someone younger than you is a sign of a big ego
Merkatz is following his Goldenbaum masters even after they've died and the empire fell. His final mission was to destroy Reinhard. Merkatz might not have agreed with the people he served in their final moments but he was still loyal to them. LOGH is still a very Japanese show with Japanese culture, it's why suicide is so prevalent throughout the show, characters immediately kill themselves after being dishonored. Merkatz would make more sense to you if you were Japanese.
honestly I don't think he had much of a plan
but things start making a lot of (and somehow even less) sense with the child emperor defection plotline and the empire government in exile. after that you get an "aha" moment that smooths things out
The show isn't biased at all. It's very nuanced. It lays out all of the pros and cons of Dictatorship and Democratic Republicanism and leaves it up to the viewer to determine which they prefer. In my opinion, a Dictatorship with a bad leader is far worse than a corrupt Democracy, but a Dictatorship with a benevolent leader is far better than even the most ideal Democracy.
The pinnacle of failure for the Republic was the Amristar debacle, the pinnacle of failure for the Empire was the civil war nuclear strike but ultimately is what made it stronger, where as the FPA civil war devastated the nation's ability to respond to Imperial aggression. Also even at it's worst the Empire still recognized and empowered talented men to participate and produce where at its worst the FPA was literally imprisoning their best soldiers for wrong think.
>a Dictatorship with a bad leader is far worse than a corrupt Democracy, but a Dictatorship with a benevolent leader is far better than even the most ideal Democracy
This is so true. It's a shame people always recoil at the mere mention of this fact.
>In my opinion, a Dictatorship with a bad leader is far worse than a corrupt Democracy, but a Dictatorship with a benevolent leader is far better than even the most ideal Democracy.
Gd this is so true
I don't think she raises her voice once in the entire run of the original, yet she perfectly fits the setting and you don't question her authority once.
Its the same problem with modern Star Trek writers they don't know how to sell a character without these big dumb moments. I am glad I skipped the remake entirely.
My dream adaptation series. Not sure how it could be made, maybe four 13 episode seasons on HBO or something. The budget would be out of control though, the casting would be a struggle, and Im not sure how you condense the plot anymore than it already is.
why do people need adaptations of things. At best it doesn't compare to the original at worst its pozzed and the cast is full of Black folk. Just fricking enjoy the original series
Your dream is my nightmare, imagine all the articles chastising it for being "nazi propaganda", imagine all the miscastings, all the shit they'd gloss over
They'd probably go for the low hanging fruit and make Reinhard and Kircheis gay
People making reaction videos to Kircheis' death
Maybe the HBO of twenty years ago, I wouldn't want modern HBO touching it with a 50ft pole.
They'd either: >Make the empire the 100% bad guys, show none of their perspective and strip away all of the political intrigue and nuance >Make the empire be some multiracial mutt nation (like they did with black Valyrians) and have the two sides barely have any differences at all
And of course both scenarios would have some LGBT quota they have to hit too.
You wouldn't want HBO going near it in Current Year.
Thankfully the fact that it's never been dubbed makes it normieproof so no western channel will even try.
>casually mogs the entire western animation industry
I think this is unadaptable, luckily for the fans. Also have a nice day seriously.
Why cant it be adapted? Because battles dont rely almost anything at all in individual combat skill, and rely more on tactics. You will never see a Han Solo or Luke outskilling 20 people in combat, its usually 20k ships vs 25k ships. Individual combat skill is barely useful. I think only Schochad managed to pull a few hand to hand combat feats.
That means there are no le ebin action moments, and most of the stuff is le ebin arguing sitting in chairs. But at the same time the fleet vs fleet battles demand an insane budget.
So you need the insane budget yet you dont get individual action scenes to satiate the plebs. And if you add action scenes or mini arcs-goals for each battle, the 100 episodes would easily ramp up to 300.
Alexander the Great since he died young.
Although Reinhard's generals were less power-hungry (at least the ones that survived to the end) so his empire will probably be in better shape than Al's.

>Tactical, engineering, and logistics genius from a poor but prestigious family joins the military and after a meteoric rise through the ranks ends up becoming the head of several major institutions before ultimately launching a coup, fighting a civil war, winning, and declaring himself emperor, only to die 5 years after starting his quest and a year exactly after uniting the galaxy formally, backed by an army of talented, experienced white men, almost entirely of German descent.
Please tell me you are not this fricking stupid. It is completely obvious who he is supposed to be.
This show is supposed to be a filter for low IQ and here you are disrespecting it with your filth.
The timeline and familial history is completely identical to Caesar's, that is not 'just all' you fricking philistine. This is why giving technology to non whites was a mistake.
Alexander's personal life mirrors Reinhards in some ways but his station in life is the difference. Alexander was born into the most powerful family in Greece and one of the most powerful in the world. Caesar had a name and nothing else.
Alexander's military accomplishments are similar to Reinhard's but Caesar's life, both on and off the battlefield, are identical to Reinhard's. To include mirror his time as Emperor exactly. JC was a consul for five years and sole dictator for one. RL was Emperor for 5 years and sole ruler of the universe for one. It's quite literally the same exact career.
That may be so but it still Alexander. His young age and angelical features are an obvious giveaway. Other stuff like his personal companions being distinguished on their own merit and a sudden death of a close general impacting him personally, Alexander tendency of personally riding on the vanguard of his armies quite literally leading from the front and of course the biggest parallel his mysterious early death.

Even knowing about it implies at least an intermediate knowledge of anime and most people are filtered by the first episode
If any anime is next level as opposed to surface level, it's this one
the characters are well written, the dialogues are well written, the sequences are well done, and the story is good, they never feel like zoomer marvel movie characters that need to tell jokes to feel compelling, they are actually good because they never break the rules of the world they are living in, it doesn't have contradictions in its own story like so many stories today and it has the balls to not side with everyone and just show you the truth a thing that doesn't even exist today

Fricking garbage worse than Soi Wars
If I wanted to read I would read a book. Visual media isn't same as written media. Only man children pretend that animation is good due to info dumpy dialogue.
Watching this ruins every other space opera in existence. The fact that all the nobles hate Reinhard while he's just winning battle after battle is hilarious and theres nothing they can do to stop him. Meanwhile Yang Wenli is surrounded by incompetent leaders taking every scrap of wealth and power they can while appearing to fight for "democracy" is pretty accurate. Plus the last conversation Reinhard and Yang have on the show is pretty kino.
Interstella 5555 is pretty good

If LOGH was made today, you'd be calling it pozzed as hell for making the evil empire a nazi ethnostate and the chirp good guys who beat them diverse.

Yes I did, I just have a high IQ and am a straight while sexually active male. Obviously your perception is going to be less reliable than mine.

Julius Caesar turned a republic into an empire of sorts and was assassinated. Reinhard made a new dynasty in a pre-existing empire and died of illness
Maybe Caesar inspired the writers but that's all.

ANIME
I liked LOGH but honestly the animation in it is complete shit.
yes, its strength is in its writing, a lot of scenes are just characters standing completely still talking at each other
He was a good friend
Still surprised the story didn't fall apart after Yang is kill, the Ruenthal arc after it is one of the best in the series.
It sort of did. Julian and the Earth Cult were lame.
