Catholics, Do Not Watch The Chosen

According to Tradition in Action:

1 - As it is not rare in protestant shows, The Chosen series takes every opportunity to mock the Incomparable Person of the Mother of God;

2 - Protestant hatred for the first Pope is evident in The Chosen series on more than one occasion. For example, St. Peter, who is presented as behaving like a modern teenager, gets into agitated discussions with his wife, who quickly puts him in his place. One fan described him as a “tank,” one who is always hankering after a fight; he almost punches Matthew in the face in one episode;

3 - It lacks even an artistic value that any good movie or drama should strive to have. The characters and their costumes look dirty and ragged, and their language is the vulgar language of the 21st century.

Read the full article with many other reasons:
https://www.traditioninaction.org/movies/056_Cho.htm

Also:

1 - The production company behind the show, Angel Studios, was founded, and is operated by two members of the mormon heresy;

2 - Although the true Jesus preached repentance, in the first three seasons of The Chosen he NEVER talks about that;

Conclusion:

If you watch this series, you are risking your soul, you make the Virgin Mary cry and will certanly have to answer for this sin in the Judgment. If you want to truly know Jesus, turn to the teachings of the Holy Roman Catholic Church and the catechism, experience Him in the liturgy, eat his blood and flesh in the Mass. Do not watch heretic movies and series that only depict a fake version of Christ, that doesn't teach repentance and struggle against sin, it only serves modernism and secularism.

    I agree, and anons should do something to prevent people from watching this show, many potential good catholics are watching It and condeming their souls to hellfire. Let's use this thread to start an "operation" to produce and spread some material with warnings about The Chosen heresies.

      yes the show isn't very good, but you need to calm the frick down. watching a less than ideal portrayal of the ministry of Christ isn't going to condemn anyone to hell, that's just insane.

His beard is almost blonde, although not very long. His hair is quite long, and has never seen a pair of scissors.....His neck is slightly inclined, so that he never appears to be bitter or arrogant. His tanned face is the color of ripe corn and well proportioned. It gives the impression of gravity and wisdom, sweetness and good, and is completely lacking in any sign of anger.

            I can only find this version on one specific website, looking at the source it says its from a magazine, that seems to be some sort of tourism magazine, unless its the same name for another magazine. Regardless this version of the letter, which is known as Letter Of Lentelus, appears on only one site from what i can see, other have a diff version. Also i can't find good sources that it was written by Pontius Pilate. The letter starts appearing around 1400.

            This guy tries to refute the material evidence with texts from the bible itself and on the way makes all these concessions, including that the Canaanite El was the same as Yahweh, and that israelites did in fact partake in polytheism. That's a level of dishonesty and stupidity unheard of, as in fact regarding this matter even the israelites try to save face by saying that a faction of israelites was *always* worshipping Yahweh only, despite not outlawing the cults of the rest of the pantheon. Good to know that catholics are determined to outdumb them, not a very good look for us goyim.

    It really doesn't mock Our Blessed Mother friend, in one scene she is there when Mary Magdalene turns back to Christ after struggle with temptations, just as Our Lady is there when each of us turn back to her Son. Peter was a bit of a firebrand, Mel Gibson took a similar approach and we all like The Passion, that's also what made him the great first Pope that he was.
    Your other critiques are certainly valid, but I think for those Catholics who may have found The Chosen from sources like Formed TV or from Parish recommendations it may be a compliment to their faith, especially in comparison to alternate, truly secular media. Brian Holdsworth has a really good rundown on why he won't watch it, and I think it's definitely fair to solely choose Catholic content with Catechismic truths (most EWTN shows, for example), but to say that Our Mother is crying due to the faithful watching a TV show (one which, for what it's worth) does not deal in the brutal themes most any other media seems to revel in) is just as if not more harmful than casually watching The Chosen. That's a really harsh accusation, one that denies others' faith and the love of Our Mother. Absolutely, we are each to repent and experience Our Lord in Liturgy, but please avoid scandal here by gravely presuming the hearts and faith of those who have decided to watch something which is relatively wholesome. We should each take our journey to Our Lord as seriously as we can, our souls depend on it, I'm not denigrating that, but that also means we must be very careful about finger wagging at those who may be attempting in earnest to stay faithful by incorporating Christ into the 'little ways' of their lives. Remember, our God is terrifying in Hell, all-powerful on Earth, but in the Blessed Sacrament His nature of being mild, sweet, and gentle is revealed to us, encouraged to grow within us, we should temper our genuine concern for our brothers and sisters in Christ with the example of His Sacred Heart.

    I was on the crew for Season 3 of this show. Very weird, very interesting subculture. The crew members that have been around a long time are super into it, most people around don’t really care about the religious aspect of it. A large number of the extras pay to be in the show, and fly in from different states to Texas to stand around in 100 degree heat in robes.

        >And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine. Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

        >And it came to pass, as he spake these things, a certain woman of the company lifted up her voice, and said unto him, Blessed is the womb that bare thee, and the paps which thou hast sucked. But he said, Yea rather, blessed are they that hear the word of God, and keep it.

        >And when the DAYS OF HER PURIFICATION according to the law of Moses were accomplished, they brought him to Jerusalem, to present him to the Lord;

        >Then one said unto him, Behold, thy mother and thy brethren stand without, desiring to speak with thee. But he answered and said unto him that told him, Who is my mother? and who are my brethren? And he stretched forth his hand toward his disciples, and said, Behold my mother and my brethren!

        >The children gather wood, and the fathers kindle the fire, and the women knead their dough, to make cakes to the queen of heaven, and to pour out drink offerings unto other gods, that they may PROVOKE ME TO ANGER.

          Anon, you are not acting in any way in good faith. And I doubt calling anyone a rape baby will help you convince me you speak the truth. For the Theotokos was and still is sacred in all Catholic countries and Orthodox countries, the role of The Holy Virgin Mary is older than any protestant cult that denies the Church dogmas about her.
          You are a sad man and I can only pray for God to guide your misguided soul and mind to the Truth and repentance.

          Wrong. The Catholic Church is not a denomination, to call it one is to place it on the same levels as any protestant church. Catholicism is not just one "version" of Christianity among many, it IS Christianity. What people call "denominations" within protestantism are just different heretical sects.
          Never refer to Catholicism as a denomination again.

            Christianity: using Christ's teachings and the example he set for us to destroy illusions, love completely, and ultimately become closer to the Father

            To some degree, Christ's teachings are open to interpretation. There's no way to be absolutely certain exactly what he meant by each metaphor and parable. And as long as it's open to interpretation, there will never be one incontrovertible way to go about trying to achieve salvation.

            I feel like this is just stating the obvious, but apparently it needs to be said.

      Probably around the same time everyone else did.

      However, I'm not sure people's hubris, bigotry and close-mindedness has gotten much worse. It's definitely worse than it was in the previous few decades, but I think it seems like a bigger shift than it is because all the radical nobodies (like OP) have platforms on which they can express their opinions to thousands or even millions of people.
