How much stock do you put in the overseas commercials U.S. celebrities do to supplement their incomes? Like the whiskey Bill Murray advertised in Lost in Translation for example. These ads can't really pay that much - why do they do them then?

I saw arnold swartzenegger in lidl ad
What country? I wonder if he's all over the TV in germany or wherever he's from
>Can't tell it's French.
>Doesn't know Arnie is from Austria
Sheesh.
It's advertising a German brand.
they just dubbed him lazily for german version
>Arnie's lines are dubbed
Is his German that bad, or is it because he speaks Austrian German?
To the German ear, Austrian accent sounds like a backwoods bumpkin, like Appalachian accent
So pretty much Sergent Candy from T3 then?
This was such a kino scene wish they left it in the movie
I get that in a film his accent might be distracting depending on the character, but to dub over his voice when he's selling discount tools seems excessive.
Apparently it's always the same guy dubbing for Arnie in Germany. Like his official German voice.
Consider that it's cheaper for them to just dub over him than have him to another adread in German.
He doesn't care that much about germany. It's like how americans don't care much about canada. Unless they pay him extra to do the ad twice it's just not gonna happen, his fame comes from him speaking english not german. It's not because his austrian accent isn't marketable.
His German accent basically is that of a farmer living in some remote village. He sounds as absurd as he does in English. It'd be like watching Silence of the Lambs and Lecter has a thick as grits southern redneck accent. You'd think its some kind of joke.
>Lecter has a thick as grits southern redneck accent.
That would work great actually.
He's dubbed even in his films in Germany.
And the old VA that used to dub all of Arnie's movies retired years ago, and it's a new guy doing his voice now.
>He's dubbed even in his films in Germany
Why? He's a native speaker.
It's hard to take anyone with an Austrian accent seriously.
What does it sound like to Germans?
Like how rednecks sounds to yanks. It's all classism. Imagine some poor person from L.A. mocking a rich person from Alabama because they sound rural.
kek, so did Hitler sounds like a redneck?
Hitler didn't have an accent.
Or at least not in his recorded public speeches
>"We're gonna git them no good israelites, I tell you hwhat."
Hitler doesn't really talk like an Austrian
he does the rolling R thing, but that's really common among public speakers of that era, and he doesn't really have any other obvious traits.
Keep in mind there's only one recording of him talking normally, and that everything else is a carefully rehearsed performance.
Hitler grew up close to bavaria so he was able to have a normal german accent or at least grew up to be able to use multiple accents if needed. Arnold used his hillbilly austrian english for his advantage as a trademark. His original austrian accent wasn't imporant since he didn't have a big presence in germany apart from being dubbed by someone else.
yeah, but I reckon he couldn't be bothered to dub himself just for german, also last year his usual german dub voice actor died, so they couldn't even use him.
Parkside is some power tool brand by Lidl, so all over europe with Lidl
He's done a fair few Japanese ads which are pretty funny.
Forgot pic
They also used Aaron Paul in the Ads, hinting at the woodworking scene as Jesse
i don't think that's aaron paul dude
Are those Lidl tools any good?
They're good for the price.
for home use pretty great
Are they made in Germany? I don't want Turks touching my tools
The one I have was made in Germany, or assembled from chink parts in Germany. Turks don't actually work anyway, so they are only touched by portuguese or polish hands.
This one and I've also seen Travolta in a PPE ad.
>These ads can't really pay that much - why do they do them then?
They help raise the profile of the actor in that country so their future movies and projects might be more widely watched. Many countries worship white actors, even mediocre ones so if a White God deigns to perform in one of their ads, they feel like they have been blessed. Japan is especially like this.
Is thor trolling man of steel now?
Hemsworth is shilling wigs now?
Jean Reno as Doraemon in those Toyota commericals were kino.

Live action Jaiko is so much hotter than live action Shizuka.
Why do the Japanese sanction his buffoonery?
They don't use Tommy Lee's face on the tins when they sell them outside japan, shit sucks
It's always the same face on Boss coffee cans, they don't use his face for the cans, only the commercial.
Oh ok, that's lame
Isn't that literally a picture of him reacting to unsanctioned buffoonery
Clooney has been the face of Nespresso for a long time, and I saw Pitt's doing a spot for another coffee machine
>Clooney has been the face of Nespresso for a long time
That's not an overseas thing, he's all over the place with it
>do Nespresso
>buy a satellite with the money
He truly is Bruce Wayne
Coffee and make-up ads are the only times I remember seeing international celebrities in ads.

Tony Sirico did a bunch of ads for a Swedish newspaper
Probably because its way easier to do than a movie shoot.
Gerald Butler does tv spots for a brand of safety workwear
For some reasons, he's famous in Italy
How old is this ad? There's no way he looks like this in 2024
2 years ago but there are also more recent photos and he does look like that
Are those wigs?
not idea what the text is trying to say, but it just look terrible
>drink dementia energy juice, remember me from 20 years ago?
im sure some russanon will translate for us
Me on the right doing my coffee face
i saw these ads with bruce in bulgaria
Hell is popular in Eastern Europe
turns out coffee is not good for you
Here's Iggy Pop selling car insurance in the UK. He's got a lust for lower premiums.
