>characters lock eyes, kiss, lay down together. >fade to black

>characters lock eyes, kiss, lay down together
>fade to black
>fade back in to pillow talk or whatever else afterward
This is all a "sex scene" should ever be. It gets the point across and shows the character development and interaction without being vulgar.

Just have sex with your horny, frustrated sister, already. If you don't give her a good shagging soon, she'll become a crazy femcel and murder you in your sleep.

Movies shouldn't have any sex, even if its only implied.

They clearly put Cruise on a box lol
Is it really that bad for audiences that the lead be equally as tall as the love interest?

      >Is it really that bad for audiences that the lead be equally as tall as the love interest?
I think the problem is that she's actually taller than him.

Jennifer Connelly is 5'7", which I've always heard is also Tom Cruise's height, although it's disputed.

But then she wears heels so she's taller when they stand next to each other.

True, but I think you would just have her change to flats since you can't see their feet in this scene anyway. The height difference between them here is so slight that I don't think they used a box, unless Cruise is actually like 5'4" or something.

Humans are dimorphic with men being 4 to 5 inches taller than women on average.

Explain what's wrong with showing sex without sounding like a moronic christcuck

There's just no need for it and it serves no narrative purpose. If you want to watch people frick just go load up some porn.

        >There's just no need for it and it serves no narrative purpose
You could say that about anything in a movie. "There is no need to show characters driving from one place to another and it serves no narrative purpose." You're just fixated on that one aspect because you're a prude afraid of sex.
The question was to not sound like a christcuck, and you failed.

Showing characters driving from one place to another can serve a narrative purpose just the same as the implication of sex can, but do you really need to see an entire car trip happen in real time or do you condense it and only show the important parts? Establishing the before, implication, and after of sex is all you need for the actual narrative and character development, showing thee sex on screen adds nothing once you have all the other important parts in place.

You are trying to sound intelligent while simultaneously speaking like a moron.

I was gonna say the same thing essentially but I've just been ignoring morons lately and it's been great.

There is need for it because I like it, same reason there is need for blood in action scenes

But it can be important for the narrative, themes, and subtext..

All of those things can be established without showing the sex itself.

Wrong. There are times when showing the act is essential to the tone of the scene and meaning behind it. Sex isn't just sex, theres angry sex, regretful sex, reluctant sex, love making and fricking. First example that comes to mind is true detective when Maggie fricks Rust out of revenge/spite. You can't cut any of that out and still convey what a pathetic action against Marty it was effectively.

On the other end of the stick is something like Terminators Reese/Connor sex scene where it was just gratuitous passion shots with an orchestral theme playing in the background for 2 minutes. I agree that some of not most sex scenes aren't necessary, but they have their place.
