https://cartoonnetwork.fandom.com/wiki/Invaded
Nobody at CN liked the Invaded crossover >According to Craig McCracken, no one at Cartoon Network was excited about the Cartoon Network Invaded event, which went through Troubled Production due to Kraft Cheese, who originally sponsored the event, backing out at the last minute for unknown reasons, and both he and Maxwell Atoms had extended talks over how everyone knew this event was a bad idea. The five shows involved (Foster's Home, Ed, Edd n Eddy, My Gym Partner's a Monkey, Camp Lazlo, and Billy & Mandy) played with the concept of cheese-obsessed aliens invading Earth very fast and loosely, with the only episode feeling even remotely complete being "Billy & Mandy Moon the Moon" (only because Atoms recycled a completed script originally titled "Billy & Mandy VS The Martians").
I always assumed they backed out because it might've been a conflict of having shows promote a product. Like back in the day they wanted to make a Chester Cheetah cartoon or something but there was a law about products having shows for them, or something very similar to that. In this case it presumably never would've explicitly been Kraft cheese, but the idea of all those shows pushing that with commercialized promotion shared with the product might've been seen as a bad thing internally. Basically a company having self-awareness at the last second.
Such a strange way for this to go >hey we want you to do this event >ok sure we will set it up >uhh actually jk we don’t like what we see we are out lol
Surely CN sued them for this, right? Step one should have been Kraft submitting notes on what they wanted changed, not just dropping out
Apparently because they were too moronic to write up contracts. Any reputable network would have it written up that Kraft couldn’t just bail in the final hour
Yea back then CN had a bad habit of making events that way overstayed their welcome. The concepts weren’t bad but they stayed on for so long you grew to hate them
I feel like people don't appreciate that Nazz was actually a fairly nice girl in this cast. With everyone else being some form of dicks, she at least seemed to try and be tolerant and considerate towards the Eds. If this were made today I can't help but imagine she'd not be the way she is, and be more headstrong and rude, in a different way than Sarah is.
The cinematic nightmare sound effects and music by the end of this sequence is fricking insane. I listened to that scene with headphones on once and really heard all the little sounds and droning full on and it was ridiculous.
I remember when this Ed, Edd n Eddy episode came out
I also remember the CN Invaded event, they reran the Courage pilot and it was the last time or one of the last times the pilot ever aired, even though the show reran for a few more years afterwards
If they walked into such a hot temperature right next to something ice cold with snow everywhere, in real life couldn't that kill a person? Something to do with body temperature whiplash or whatever.
No, but you'd get sick immediately, because of how germs work. Same reason AC and heating causes people to get more sick than they did before they were invented.
I think so. It also has to do with adaptability. Kind of like how a person starves him or herself for a certain amount of time, it's imperative to introduce food at smaller portions, so they won't suffer from refeeding syndrome.
I really enjoy the episodes of EEE where we get to see some character dynamics played with. Either all of them together or just something other than "the 3 boys and everyone else being scammed." They're all a bunch of fun archetypes and it's nice when Danny/the writers felt like doing something with them.
Same feeling I was getting with Grim during these rewatches, enjoying when Mandy got to show some emotion. Even though this was back when cartoons were actually likeable and fun, there was often one-note characterization which while can still be charming, is satisfying when you get a little extra to them.
> i want kids to go into a mcdonalds and get a cute girl in a pink dress with a gigabow on her head
Buy a time machine then and tell Danny Antonucci that
She still slapped Edd but yea, it's almost always the subverted expectations gag now where the guy goes instead. In general they just prefer not to bring up the "use a woman as bait" cliche in general, because either they have to play it straight, have a guy do it which is dicey with crossdressing humor, and them shut down the idea and no one does it.
It's ironic, my favorite original series during the City/Yes! era were the three Cartoon Cartoons airing new episodes during that time, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy, and Kids Next Door
I guess she liked playing lowball against someone who doesn't like her. I'm sure a later episode would've rationalized it as "I could take her out in 2 seconds so I just don't do it because that wouldn't be fun."
I just found this interview today, I thought one anon was making it up but it turned up to be true, posting it here since this is an "old Cartoon Network thread" >In September 2020, Toonami co-creator Jason DeMarco revealed that he had previously tried to get Ranma ½ aired on the American TV programming block Toonami during the early 2000s multiple times, but "it's something we never were able to figure out no matter how hard we tried, because, frankly, there's too much nudity that cannot be edited".
Probably because he's a hypocrite. He can say he likes Ranma because it's a dude turning into a guy and that appeals to certain people and it's also a series by a very well-known and beloved female creator so female nudity in general for it is allowed to be liked, because it can't be sexist if a woman made it.
Demarco has such a weird attitude, he loves this show with its constant nudity but won’t air anything modern with even mild fanservice
Demarco LOVES old anime and will defend it regardless of its content while simultaneously shitting on modern anime for much tamer material. But at the same time if given the opportunity, he will remove all the fanservice as we saw him do with the new FLCL
He works for CN/AS, he occasionally voiced background characters in shows but his primary job was running Toonami and deciding what anime they would pick up
>Latin America
So the third world. The US has standards. Really, even Latin America has standards now. Extremely strict ones, they aired Mob Psycho 100 and completely butchered it with censorship
This is such a random episode to be a half-hour special. I imagine they just had a lot of jokes they didn't want to cut or something even though a lot of them probably could've been repurposed into other episodes since they aren't specific to this idea, like Grim playing with dolls of him and Billy's Mom.
I wonder if the series would've been better if it was a half-hour. Maybe they would've worn out on the show sooner too and it wouldn't have ended up going to those last shitty seasons.
We need a loveable, loyal dog in modern animation again. Courage is a good boy and a little dog protecting his family every week is extremely fricking endearing.
>the party isn't answering
lmao
i like that this is airing after the supernatural phone calling episode of grim. i don't know about dexter but they could've aired the haunted phone of ed edd n eddy and the prank callers episode of regular show all in one day
>but they could've aired the haunted phone of ed edd n eddy and the prank callers episode of regular show all in one day
Frick that episode but yeah sounds like a good fit
>did you fold the clothes? >mhm >such a good dog 🙂
muriel and courage's interactions are so sweet. dilworth for all his weird and deformed ideas also made some damn wholesome stuff between them.
This is what burdens me that he didn't have an involvement in the Scooby Doo crossover. He wasn't just another guy making a random cartoon. He had passion and care in his work and the cute Muriel/Courage stuff is part of what shows that off. Dude should've been treated better by CN. I'm sure we wouldn't have got Eustace rapping if he was involved too.
>you're going to end up in a body cast... why dont you let me help you?
i like when dexter shows kindness to his parents
I love these episodes about niche things kids shows usually wouldn't do, like pirating TV or even emergency broadcast system alerts.
Have you tried pirating cable Cinemaphile?
My grandpa did in the 80's remember my dad telling me.
Hateful SWAT Cartoon
Someone better post the sexy screenshots.

That tv episode is better than the one from season 3
>Dexter becomes the Book Nazi
DEXTER THAT WAS ALOAD BEARING GREEN BACON AND EGGS BOOK!
YOU TAKE THAT OUT THECWHOLE THING COLLAPSES!
Oh I get it. It’s like the Soup Nazi but with books instead of soup.
Unfunny.
>Oh I get it. It’s like the Soup Nazi but with books instead of soup
Which cartoon?
Why was the Savino era hated so much?
>writing took a serious nosedive

Dexter just fricking killed that robot.
greeEEEEN BACONE AND EIGGS??
I prefer this library epsode to Season 2's. At least in this one, Dexter actually deserved his punishment.
>plank affected by the ocean waves
their bumpers are finally almost starting to be 2% closer to CN City type animation hybrid effects
Looks like the block is over already. See you guys tomorrow.

Frick off this is the school era ed edd n eddy that actually hits not misses

moronic zoomer. We need more 90s shows on this block to smoke your kind out.

Cartoon Network was bleeding money during this time, they couldn't sue even if they wanted to
Apparently because they were too moronic to write up contracts. Any reputable network would have it written up that Kraft couldn’t just bail in the final hour
CN was weird as shit, it seemed like the most amateur out of the big 3, that's also why it was the best one
What’s most moronic about this is why was it an entire month? They had the material for 1 week of content at best
Yea back then CN had a bad habit of making events that way overstayed their welcome. The concepts weren’t bad but they stayed on for so long you grew to hate them
This one was for some special event right?

Fricking intense and stressful moment.

Holy shit Cell hatched in the cul-de-sac.
What's with the pig squeaking sound effect?
>all the kids including the Eds work together on something
Don’t see this much

See THAT'S how you do a good story, make everything at least have development and fun play. maybe THAT'S how you do good characters, UNLIKE CRAIG
>mass replier
Go back to your AI thread.
Even though the people who had to make episodes for Invaded hate it, it was still a very good special all things considered.
Why did Ed become even louder and dumber in the fifth season?
I forget, what was this event even for? Did it tie into something bigger or was it just a gimmick they cooked up for engagement?
Read the thread dumbass, it was written several times.
It was so we could see naked Ed
>double d using comics as a reference
Really out of character this episode
Aliens and sci-fi is out of his depth so he looked at Ed's angle instead on short notice.
They don't have computers.
He has books.
I like how the kids work together.
>Eddy, it's a tad sus that you think this could be reliable defense
Guys, I think there really are aliens... among us.
>Eddy made something completely by himself
This episode is a mess
>the edds and the crowd
Wholesome
Have CN shows been referenced outside of CN?
They are now the KND.
>we're coming for you, rolfie boy!
Kevin is a good guy deep down huh.
Rolf is Kevin's friend.
We KND now
>whistle form theme song
KINO
That isn't funny, Eddy. Jonny's dead.
I love the creativity of that gutterball joke with the fences beside the house.
>Eddy stops Ed from going in.
>Sacrifices in some of the other kids instead.
See, Eddy does care about his friends.
And then he was the only one to charge right in while they all panicked. Balls of steel.
>free Nazz
Now there’s a bargain
>double d liked getting slapped by Nazz
I chuckled at that scene
they should've released a toy of nazz in this outfit

> i want kids to go into a mcdonalds and get a cute girl in a pink dress with a gigabow on her head
Buy a time machine then and tell Danny Antonucci that
You gotta appreciate Eddy's bravery.
Surprised Eddy is willing to go capture a potentially dangerous alien, but is usually cowardly in other, more mundane situations.
Wonder how many takes Eddy's VA did for that scream.
Modern cartoons would never let you tie a girl up for a joke like this
She still slapped Edd but yea, it's almost always the subverted expectations gag now where the guy goes instead. In general they just prefer not to bring up the "use a woman as bait" cliche in general, because either they have to play it straight, have a guy do it which is dicey with crossdressing humor, and them shut down the idea and no one does it.

Soulless twist
Shut up.
I thought the opposite...
This.

Relatable at least
so is that billboard above mandy's house a woman admiring a new ham or something
>the motion lines from the phone become wiggly and strained when irwin says "s i l k y h a i r"
lol
I dunno, I thought the Invaded event was kino.
I like how Harold looked like he was going to rape his wife and she just corrected herself from terror to agreeing.
It's ironic, my favorite original series during the City/Yes! era were the three Cartoon Cartoons airing new episodes during that time, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Billy and Mandy, and Kids Next Door
Why did Mandy never retaliate against Mindy?
I guess she liked playing lowball against someone who doesn't like her. I'm sure a later episode would've rationalized it as "I could take her out in 2 seconds so I just don't do it because that wouldn't be fun."
>Grim wants to bang a voluptous billy's mom
HOLT CRIKA!
Better than Eris.
...you mind linking me eris and billy's mom stuff right now?
>my parents when i watch anime
My parents screamed "JOE MAMA" at me whenever I get caught watching anime
>the youareanidiot.org but with phones episode

2016 fricked him up hard
What happened in 2016?
everything wrong in the culture besides gumshoos.
I wonder how bad it will hit him in 2024
RANMA 1/2 IS LITERALLY PERV/PORN CENTRAL!

I would also cheer if in school, my sexy teacher was encased by tentacles.
You'd stop when you'd see her turn into a tentacle monster and beeline straight at you.
what was the point of that musical bit
Time filler.
Harold sure is horny this episode, he was willing to have freaky monster sex.
>he was willing to have freaky monster sex.
Harold is a man of culture.

If was better during Grim & Evil when it was 7 minutes. Voltaire Brains wouldn't worked if it was longer.
Its the episode where people thought Ringo Starr voiced the Duck Brothers.
It didn't even sound like him, just an impressionist at most.
This is exactly what happened in that Aliens in the Attic movie, except in that one I had an autistic boner and they recast me.
