What you moronic dont understand is what he is doing is illegal, he has no right to gain entry at all and all he is doing is trying to dupe morons like you who despite having the internet at your finger tips, cannot even learn how to use it to find information for any sort of scenario.
i.e UK law, baliffs powers etc
You cant even get a high court bailiff summons for an unpaid TV licence.

There is no way that a tv licence enforcer is allowed to creep through your window, even if they have a warrant. If you won't let them in the house and the situation was deemed sufficiently serious it would essentially be a standoff until they can escalate it to the extent that the police get involved and are allowed to legally break through the front door.

              They dont get warrants
              They have no enforcement capability
They arent part of the government
They are just a company that the government allows to lie to people and LARP as a government agency to trick people into paying a tax the government knows they cant realistically pursue themselves without looking even worse than they already do.
But they definately havent shifted the responsibility or blame because they still allow it.

If the government bestows powers otherwise reserved to the government upon a company, that company may as well be the government. There is no material difference. The police will still side with them. The courts will side with them. You lose.

High court writs are serious and they will gain entry, immediately or in an hour or two when the police come. This is not a tv licence agent. The time to fight your case in court has passed. You are in debt and they will seize property to pay it off. Just wait till you need to have debts returned and do it yourself - you won't because you're probably a wagie.

It could have been for any number of things, but yes, he has a judgement against him, or whatever they call it in the UK. In the USA, if you get sued and lose, a judgement is entered against you. You can pay it, or you can try to be a scumbag and say you don't have the money. They can have sheriff's deputies come to your house and seize property to be auctioned off to pay for the judgement.

So yes, this does happen in the USA too, and the jackass with a camera is likely some deadbeat scumbag.

brits actually used to have unmarked vans that would patrol white neighborhoods with a device inside that could detect if there was a TV on in your home then break into your house if you didnt have a license

        Anonymous

Man, the TV license is weird. Because in theory, that's how I think taxes should work. Voluntary and you pick what you pay for. But in practice, it's just awful and hilarious.

        Anonymous

That's actually not true, they never had the vans / detector device. It was a pr stunt to scare people into getting their licences. Also they're not allowed to break into your house; they essentially ring the doorbell and speak to you in a tone of voice and using language which is designed to scare most people into letting them into the house to check, but if you stand your ground and tell them to frick off then it's hard for them to do anything unless they can literally see that you're watching UK live tv

This was a lie to intimidate people. No such tech existed.
        >then break into your house if you didnt have a license
        Never, ever happened.

There were probably only a few vans in total. It was a marketing gimmick/propaganda, not an actual task force.

Why don't they just put their gay propaganda TV channel behind a paywall and whoever wants to watch it can just directly pay for it instead of building this whole complex system of tv licenses and enforcement that probably costs millions of dollars to run.

There are a bunch of artsy-fartsy long-shot movies like this. Like for a while, the longest movie ever released in theaters was just an unedited video of a temple burning down. And I think the current record belongs to Dali's or Warhol's film that's just 30 hour recording of the empire state building.

you can watch a sped up version on youtube and its only 1 hour and 12 minutes
if you want you can adjust the speed, the slowest setting of 0.1 means it will last 12 hours if you want it to
