I'd like a show. Or a movie, I don't discriminate. Just something that matches the vibe here. Depressing tone, ambient music, bleak color palette, filled with logic-minded characters.
The Terror
2nding the terror, first season was kino
try The North Water. miniseries about a whaling ship going into the arctic. dreary and cold, ship politics, great acting, with a little violence. kino
I already recommended that. Posting in the Cinemaphile threads while watching the show was some of the most fun I've had on Cinemaphile.
Dark has a similar look and tone, although quality takes a dive in the second season.
Cinemaphile used to have a general called Ternobyl (for both Chernobyl and The Terror). Watch the latter if you haven't seen it. The North Water is better than both, however.
Friendly reminder that they completely made up this woman.
I heard that too. She was a bunch of men in real life or something. I don't mind if they represent multiple people as one guy but it's clearly a woman power move if they made her female. The other two shows I named don't have that problem.
yeah, then they explained their decision at the end and showed and credited the 20 or so people she was based on
>he created Ulana to reflect the real-life women who were prominent in medical and science fields in the Soviet Union
It wasn't 20 or so people it was literally just "women" XD
>soviet communism was totally sexist!
>lets recreate the exact same ideaology in the west.
How do these people remember to breathe?
Really? I remember reading about the disaster when I was young and I never knew some of the events happened like the helicopter crash.
They dramatised the helicopter crash for some stupid reason, it didn't malfunction because of gamma rays it ran into a low hanging wire or something
Yeah the rotors hit a wire
yeah, the show would have benefitted immensely from another 20 scientists all named boris or ivan that each add one sentence to the plot
Yes but this board must hate all women, leave them alone
They also wrote her dialogue and attitude as obnoxiously patronizing.
>I'm sure you thought that was smart but you're causing an additional problem.
The first half that sentence is completely needless and specifically written to make female viewers go "see she should be in charge!!!"
You know how I know you've never had to deal with a slavic woman before?
the railway men. is similar
the russian movie Salyut 7
>The North Water
>The Terror
>The Railwaymen (literally Indian chernobyl)
For anyone who wants to learn some realty (the show was mostly made up)

shit show for shit people.
Kino show for the best kind of people, you're such a homosexual I'm not even checking those trips
For real this is the last really good show
I wish they would do a sequel like, start at the back accident, but then follow complete difference characters povs.. sort of like the one episode where they diverted focus to the guys who shot the dogs..
Can't stand this gay as frick fake history shit.
>no women involved in Chernobyl disaster
>better invent some women and have them take credit for what men did
sickening shit
In Soviet Union, women do same jobs as men. The difference is sometimes difficult to tell apart. Many Soviet women were strong like bear and smart like Kosmonaut.
The Terror (season 1) is the only thing recently with the same feel.
Anons are going to screech but IMO "The Revenant" has a similar feel. Dark, detailed, not so much logical but very practical decisions and actions...
