What Women Want is a great 'cago flick
Chicongo
That's where John Wayne Gacy used to pick up gay prostitutes to murder
It’s one of only maybe 6 American cities with good architecture
Name them
Chicago, Gotham and I guess I miscounted.
NYC
Boston
Philly
DC
Chicago
San Francisco
Everywhere else either looks like Cleveland or is a generic handful of glass office towers surrounded by endless suburbia
Santa Fe has unique architecture
I would argue Miami and Seattle are also pretty distinctive. Seattle especially is doing a lot of missing middle infill right now
Boston is quickly declining in this area. All new construction is in the israeli intentionally ugly style.
No Big Easy?
It's a genuine metropolis but it doesn't have cultural associations as strong as Los Angeles or New York City
It’s the only major US city that has a sizable middle class white population living in it.
Polish people aren't white
prefer Boston
what a moronic fricking street design
LET'S JUST HAVE ALL THE CARS DRIVE DIRECTLY TOWARDS EACH OTHER WHAT COULD GO WRONG DURRRR
Saw the yellow in thumbnail and thought it was Tower Records, would be a kino location for the store
chicongo and san francisco are the only two beautiful cities in america
San Francisco is no longer beautiful.
New York used to be amazing.
Who else /chicago/?
Logan Square here. Fun fact about the L, it’s a popular destination for Japanese tourists because they can’t believe a first world country still uses 100+ year old rail infrastructure
Hermosa here. Previously lived in Logan by Palmer square. We really out here
A few months ago I went down a rabbit hole to find out if New York still has even one majority White gentile neighborhood left, not counting Staten Island.
Surprisingly there is one (1) Italian neighborhood left, Howard Beach in Queens. The last Irish neighborhood, Woodside, went majority-Filipino in the early 2000s.
I live in Southern Illinois, by the cornfields, to be exact. Yes, those cornfields.
Sometimes I forget Illinois keeps going past Aurora
How many corn on the cobs can you fit ip your butt?
Why is season 2 of the Bear so garbage
Great question. Season 1 was excellent, but they fumbled the ball badly in season 2. If there are any further seasons I'm not holding out much hope.
But of a shot in the dark here but I’m planning to move to Chicago from Texas next month. I just need a change of scenery and I want city life and all 4 seasons, especially a summer that isn’t 100+ degrees for months on end.
What’s a good neighborhood for someone in his late 20s making about $70k/year (remote email job)? Looking for something walkable but not too loud/crazy. Somewhere with lots of high rises would be cool.
Fricking texans
Check out Edgewater
>Lots of people in their 30s, single professionals and young families
>Quiet (some would say boring)
>High rises along the lake
>Would probably fit in your budget if you’re looking for a 1br
>Decent transit access and fairly walkable
West Town/Ukrainian Village
Multiple streets lined with busy places to go out to, 606 trail, a good mix of young professionals/families.
Logan Square/Humboldt Park if you're interested in picking up art school dropout hoes and paying less in rent. Or if you really like mexican food.
homie you’re almost 30 and you’re making $70k per year. You need to step it up.
Nta, but I'm 28 and just started fixing my shit life, I make 17 an hour working part time. I don't have a good credit score or anything but I was thinking about getting an IT administrator course certificate. I just am worried about AI and whether or not I'd be wasting my time.
Ehh, whatever man, just do some in person classes and make a few friends, then even if the degree is obsolete you had a fun experience and met some people 🙂
I sell software to IT admins and spend a good chunk of every day talking to them. It seems like a pretty good gig and companies will always want a human hand on the wheel, even as they start outsourcing more of the actual tasks to AI. It’s a lot of putting out fires though… the only time anyone ever pays attention to you is when something is going wrong.
God, I hope the world breaks you. I hope you're utterly destroyed by life. I hope every single fricking thing goes wrong for you. I hope the love of your life leaves you, I hope your parents get sick, I hope your child dies horrifically, I hope you have a debilitating illness. Suffer.
imagine having a remote job making 70k per year and moving to fricking chicago instead of like Bali or Thailand, hell if I had a job like that I'd just travel the world
Only rule is I can’t leave the US because it would make taxes a huge headache for the company
move to Denver
Methhead Mecca of the USA, cities in Colorado are seriously becoming such shitholes so quickly, might as well just go to Chicago
>yeah, just move to where the taxes and rent is higher and you'll get shot
texans are perpetual morons
Texas “cities” are the most soulless places on earth, except maybe Austin but then you might as well just live in California.
I’d rather live in inner-city Chicago than an anonymous DFW suburb. Plus White people were not meant to live in such hot climates. My blood is telling me to rvtvrn to somewhere with snow and summers in the 80s.
Houston and Dallas have some of the highest crime rates in the US, probably about as bad as Chicago
Yes but since they’re so segregated and unwalkable the chances of something happening to you as a random bystander are basically zero
Why?
>Move to Denver
>Not actually in the mountains, on a flat plain 10 miles in front of the mountains
>Have to sit on I-70 for 4+ hours if you want to go skiing on the weekend
>Everyone is an annoying dudeweed who moved there 2 years ago
If you’re into outdoor stuff and mountain sports, Salt Lake City is categorically better in every way.
If you want to live around a bunch of lefty stoners, just move to Seattle. It’s prettier and the weather is nicer.
Salt Lake city is both farther from mountains and more highway-y. It is safer and cleaner than Denver but it seems really boring.
>farther from the mountains
Come on friend, SLC literally sits in a bowl of mountains. The metro area limits are defined on all sides by mountains. It takes 35 minutes to get from downtown to the Park City base area.
Yeah honestly SLC has way cooler mountains than Denver. But parts of Denver are practically right up next to the Rockies
I wish there was an embargo on texans moving out of texas. You homosexuals are like locusts. At least you warned everyone in illionious to look out for the person with texas plates driving like a dickhead.
I worked here, it's fun looking for it in tv and movies.
any melrose park bros here with me?
Every single american city over population 50,000 is a shithole and I'm not going to pretend they aren't. /thread
Boulder, Colorado is nice. Boise is really clean and safe although very boring and generic. Santa Monica is really nice, Miami Beach is really nice.
bullshit, bullshit, bullshit, bullshit
Nah, I'm right and you're moronic.
because raised subway tracks are kino
He gets it
Any Wrigleyville chads in the thread?
My ex lives there. If you ever meet a short brunette from Ohio named Hannah please tell her that I miss her and I want her back
dude just drive through the building rofl
Why is large scale mid-century American architecture so fricking KINO
Not being sarcastic btw
Brick. inb4 the copypasta
Why are Chicago and other East Coast cities so much more soulful than their West Coast counterparts?
See
Also, most of the housing stock in California was built immediately after WWII. Mostly cookie cutter bungalows built as cheap and fast as possible to accommodate the huge wave of GI’s who were returning home with a huge amount of disposable income and a taste for suburban life.
Developer built tens of millions of pic related from 1945-1965 and they might as well be made of cardboard. Absolute garbage.
Also, since the West Coast cities boomed after the advent of the car and during a time when single use zoning was very much in vogue and walkability was seen as something that would lead to urban blight.
I promise I’m not an ESL, just phoneposting and very tired
most west coast cities only saw major development in the mid-20th century
older. simple really
Chicago is not East Coast.
>chicago is kino
>delusional blood sugar spiked hazed greasy midwestern ham fists typed this
I live in NY and I think it's still the most magical city in the world
I can understand why someone of your demeanor would think that way
>Why is American city X kino/shit
N
Hey i work down the street there
Frick off, frogman.
Chicagobros, how often do you actually take public transit?
cities are shit holes
