You were filtered so The Exorcist 3.
Nah, he won't like Exorcist 3 cause there isn't any backroom ARG or any other broccoli haired bullshit in it.
I wouldn't know. I fell asleep trying to watch it. Perfect for losers like OP.
Exorcist 3 is fricking awesome. OP is right about Barbarian being a piece of shit though.
how the hell frank stayed alive in the dungeon for decades?
what did he eat?
Celery sticks dipped in water and canned beans
his inbreed daughters
RESPECT!!
Haven't seen Barbarian, but watch these random recs

The one from last year right? Much better than I expected going in
>The one from last year right?
Yeah, figured I'd throw some more recent things in there.
>Much better than I expected going in
Nice to still get some fun found footage nowadays.
deadstream. it's the opposite of livestream!
This was such a comfy movie. One of my favorite from the season.
The newest VHS movie also had a tape with these two both in it that I thought was great.
>The newest VHS movie also had a tape with these two both in it that I thought was great.
the last segment right? that one was really good if so.
>Ils (Them)
>A Dark Song
never heard of Ils it sounds good gonna check it out. i liked in a dark song when the guy is saying he has to frick the girl for the shit to work and he tells her he was just lying lol
Cute
Tumbbad
So cute for someone in her mid 30s
Most recently, I liked this one
the wailing is great, rewatched recently and it's much better than i remember.
the empty man (one of my favorite more recent cult movies)
maniac (original and remake with elijah wood are both really good)
ready or not
kill list
looking back it was kinda weak until the climax and ending. the whole premise was moronic, but all the shit in the basement was pretty spoopy that crawlspace scene was one of the creepiest scenes i've seen in a while.
>Caveat
is this worth watching?
ive like most irish horrors ive seen
its short, too
I watched it last night, I liked it as well. small but comfy.
generally I don't rate irish horror though. (other than Leprechaun, kek)
thanks for the reply
>generally I don't rate irish horror though
really?
ive liked:
The Canal
The Hallow
Grabbers
Wake Wood
A Dark Song
Byzantium
actually think they have a pretty good track record
meh I've seen The Hallows, A Dark Song and Hold in the Ground. I didn't think they were bad just average.
You might like Relic (2020) though, it's not perfect but about a third of it I thought was really strong.
thanks
not big on the 'horror is just mental illness / dementia' trend lately
does this go anywhere besides making you feel bad about old people?

buddy, ireland loves gays and trannies and immigrants and abortions and shit now
kek, buttlove indeed
Gays, trannies, immigrants...basically anyone but the fricking English
yeah it's roughly one of those films, but it's strength is that it has a strong Silent Hill vibe.
I tend to like and remember horror films for their strong parts rather than their weak ones.
All Irish movies...we tend to keep that level of shite on the QT here, anon
Skinamarink
Filtered hard as frick. I bet you hate fun, and have a personality that could peel paint.
I love fun. I just hate bad movies.
OP is right. Barbarian had so much potential as a truly great horror movie but fricked it all up at the end by going the goofy route. Still worth a watch for anyone that hasn't seen it for the first half alone but I don't think anyone would actually bother rewatching it a second time.
It's an inlikeable movie defended by unlikeable people. No surprise here.

I remember watching this and nothing more. Is it the one with the burning ghosts?
no, it's about a housesitter and is filmed to look like a classic 80s film.
you're thinking of We Are Still Here which was pretty decent
the director's new movie, Brooklyn 45, is absolute dog shit, though
Lake Mungo.
Underrated kino defied my low expectations.

Only the first story was decent, the other two were boring and I fell asleep by the 4th.
Didn’t ask. Lets see your list homosexual.
Alien (1979)
Not horror. Also nice homosexual.
not him but yes it is, aliens isn't
Just because it scared you back when you watched it on VHS doesn’t make it horror. lmao
If Alien isn't horror then VHS is slice of life.
It's one of the most famous horror movies ever. You're either baiting or a moron.
>alien
>not horror
When did this happen?
really feels like a /hor/ general now
>alien is a slasher not a horror
>texas chainsaw massacre is a comedy
>movies are only scary if they're about things that are real
>texas chainsaw massacre is a comedy
I mean this is partly true. The movie is funny and intentionally has strong elements of black comedy.
Obviously it's more horror than comedy, but the comedy is there.
Stupid fricking Black folk. I literally gave you a well thought out list.
Don't (You) me, I dropped a list in the thread too. Just letting anon know that people warned him about Hell House and he watched it anyway.
I stupidly did the ol "search reddit for general opinions" and they all loved it. I just don't think FF is for me because there's only 3 that actually had any effect on me, Blair Witch, Rec, and somewhat As Above, So Below.
AASB was a good Tomb Raider movie but Idk if I would call it a good horror movie.
You were filtered
I liked it though.
Mine above. Didn’t see yours. If you suggested Hell House it’s dogshit though.
>Didn’t see yours
here
Worse than I expected.
Literally responded to yours saying it was good, frick off homosexual.
A lot of people did. Yours is trash though.
Considering everything you posted is 2000s or later, I think my list was just too old for you kek. Can't imagine you've actually watched Spider Baby or Peeping Tom.
You’re probably right actually.
Such a cute quirk of zoomers that their immediate response to films older than them is hostility.
My b OG
It's cool I guess.
If you ever wanna get into 60s horror watch those two, they're kino.
Honestly I just can’t see my brain being able to sit through something made in the 60’s. How’s the pacing?
>I just can’t see my brain being able to sit through something made in the 60’s.
kys yourself
Not my fault. You think I enjoyed growing up during the internet era?
Thanks anon, I’ll check them out.
>Thanks anon, I’ll check them out.
No problem anon.
If you haven't watched much 70s horror though I'd probably recommend doing that first. It'll get you more accustomed to the era without diving right in. The two movies I listed are good starting points for the 60s though, along with stuff like Night of the Living Dead and Psycho. Peeping Tom is in color if that sways you to watch that one first.
Also should mention
>You think I enjoyed growing up during the internet era?
I did too. Now is a great era for getting into old films.
Well, what’re your 70’s suggestions?
I got tons. Great decade for horror.
>the texas chain saw massacre
>jaws
>the exorcist
>tourist trap
>tales from the crypt (anthology movie)
>carrie
>suspiria
>deep red
>the last house on the left
>the town that dreaded sundown
Okay believe it or not I’ve actually seen most of that list. Except maybe 2 or 3 which I’ll check out too!
>Okay believe it or not I’ve actually seen most of that list.
Pretty good then. Going into the 60s won't be that much of a shock to you then. I was a little unsure myself when I was first getting into 60s horror but then I realized a lot of it isn't that different than the movies they were making in the 70s. You can see the influence.
I mean you had stuff like The Babadook and Skinamarink in your list, so I can't imagine the pacing would be a problem for you. Skinamarink is the kind of "slow burn" stuff I get worried I won't be able to sit through, not 60s kino.
Spider Baby is pretty fast paced I'd say, lots of weird stuff going on all the time. Peeping Tom is maybe a little slower because it's a serial killer character study, but I didn't think it was slow either.
I just watched Inside (the French one) for the second time since it first released and was still shocked by the power of it, and it had a lot more gruesome deaths than I remembered.

when i first saw it it was the first movie in a long time to scare me. it's in spanish if you don't mind but it's pretty creepy and original.
Yeah I was lucky enough to see this at a horror festival. Modern haunted house movies have yet to surpass it
Cinemaphile will deny it but this is the best recent horror movie
First one was better & had way hotter girls.
>had way hotter girls.
Negative
Yeah it's my favorite horror movie of the 2020s so far. Wasn't even that crazy about Terrifier 1.
reddit trash.
Reddit likes slowburn A24 stuff, Terrifier is too "misogynistic" for them.
T2 added the wiener chopping to balance it out.
wiener attacks in horror are always kino. That's true terror.
Pic related is good, ignore the sequels though
I might watch this but this board also thinks Lake Mungo is good and I found that to be a mid, found-footage, Aussie version of Twin Peaks
found footage is extremely divisive and the laughing stock of the horror community. i love it but there's so much garbage since anyone can do it. when it's done right though it's really great.
I'm not against found footage as a whole, just felt Lake Mungo was underwhelming so have been putting off Hell House for the same reason
i agree with lake mungo, and with found footage fans it's always in their top 5-10 FF movies. it has some ok parts but it's extremely overrated. i enjoyed the first couple of hell houses though. the thing that sucks about a lot of them is that the pay off usually isn't until mid-late film so they can be a slog to get through if the dialog and set up is weak.
I love Lake Mungo but thought Hell House was really underwhelming.
the one thing that baffles me about found footage is that BWP knocked it out of the park straight away with no budget, yet even though everyone had that template they all pale in comparison. my personal opinion
I agree, but I still like the genre.
oh yeah same. I actually wish someone would nail an alien film for once in the style of BWP.
anyway if you haven't seen it, Pyramid is a comfy film. not scary but I like my egyptian kino.
Creep 1 and 2 are good FF, august underground as well
seen them all i watch pretty much every FF movie unfortunately but there are diamonds in the rough. i was recommending 388 arletta ave and hangman (2015) if you haven't seen those.
I haven't, I'll watch them anon I don't really like too many FF movies that I can think of ATM, other than those 4 and the original Blair witch
those 2 are some of my favorite, home invasion/stalker/hidden camera stuff. i usually recommend them they're basically a double feature and if you look up the cast there's a couple noticeable faces in both of them like devon sawa and nick stahl.
I will give you the caveat that I simply like found footage movies, but I do think this is one of the better ones. It's not as slow and plodding as Lake Mungo if that helps. I don't think they're particularly similar.
If you do watch it make sure you find the Director's Cut version.
>If you do watch it make sure you find the Director's Cut version.
Is that the version on Tubi? Saw it's on there and was thinking of watching it tonight
It's the one that has Director's Cut in the title:
https://tubitv.com/movies/585647/hell-house-llc-the-director-s-cut
It adds 8 minutes to the normal film and behind the scenes shit after the credits that you don't have to watch. So the runtime you see there is inflated.
Thanks anon
Hell house is ok until the conclusion, it has pretty creepy scares, but the climax is basically just shaking black screen. Lake mungo is good also, they're not mutually exclusive.
I haven’t seen lake mungo but I thought he’ll house was pretty good. At the very least it’s a great job of creating fear in a pretty basic setting.
has anyone seen a prescreening of talk to me?
i'm hearing mixed reviews from people that have seen it but some people i trust their opinions on have said it's really good.
Malignant. Start to finish KINO
You have to be a baby or have never seen a horror film before if you thought any part of Barbarian was scary.
i don't even think it's supposed to be scary, just "unsettling" maybe. and it's so ridiculous and comedic and some parts it's hard to take serious. if you go in blind and think the skaarsgard dude is the bad guy though the reveal is pretty good.
I really don't understand the appeal of this movie. The first half kind of had some spooky moments and ideas, but the second half was borderline cringe horror shit, especially the ending. I have no clue what I was supposed to feel in the last 10 minutes of that movie.
It’s trash. Predditors are praising it because “le hecking black wynen.” It’s slop.
I think it's supposed to be insane and ridiculous, which it was.
it really only felt like that at the climax when they escape with the homeless guy
house of 1000 corpses had a similar 'gear-change' for the last half of the movie but that one was at least entertaining
Terror Firmer and Surf Nazis Must Die if you want Troma action
This is the best I've seen in awhile
lol you have got to be fricking kidding me. my how this board has turned to shite.
What specifically did u not like about it?
not that anon, but most people just can't get past the surrealism and tone of the movie. it's so ridiculous at times they just don't understand it.
Basically this Black folk post summed up
it’s reddit tier trash that tries to emulate the Hereditary NuHorror formula. It’s a film for people who want to tell themselves their intelligent because they “understood it.”
>their intelligent
Opinion discarded
Great movie, pretty much the only horror/slasher movie which can be called art.
>pretty much the only horror/slasher movie which can be called art.
Yeah, no.
Maybe the pretentious tryhard kind of art
You're so wrong it hurts
Climax is better and more artful
In general Lars wishes he could touch Noe
So is Hell House actually worth watching? Or is it just a meme like Lake Mungo and Skinamarink?
Meme
No one can guarantee you'll like it but I think it's worth watching, yes. Lots of creepy scenes, things in the background to notice, etc.
I don't know if I agree about the climax. The final ending point of the film is a bit weak, but when seeing the full haunted house footage is good.
>starts out as generic A24 cerebral mystery horror
>turns into schlockino halfway through
>filters 80% of the audience
Barbarian is great
>actually good
>horror
Huh?
The Collector is kino. Haven't seen the sequel but probably will soon, can anyone confirm if it's kino?
yeah if you liked the collector it's worth watch
I prefer The Collector but The Collection is definitely worth a watch, some people even like it more.
>Coping With Parenting an Autistic Child: A Documentary
Not going to tag anyone i was replying to earlier but if you want some good found footage, two of my favorites are:
388 Arletta Ave
and Hangman (2015 not the pacino).
they both involve home intruders/stalkers breaking into homes and setting up hidden cameras to frick with the inhabitants. both are really good imo.
I'll add them to my watchlist.
Starry Eyes
Ils (Them)
A Dark Song
Eden Lake
Wolf Creek
Ils/Them is great. Same with Wolf Creek.
Monster Party (on Tubi)
Quatermass and the Pit
The Lost Boys
Unman Wittering Zygo
Twisted Nerve
A Clockwork Orange
The Neon Maniacs
Tremors
Night of the Demons (criminally underrated)
Race Against the Devil
Demons
This movie was good, but it was overrated. The only two horror films that deserved the praise they got/get are The Exorcist and Hereditary. Most horror is very okay. I guess I would also include Nosferatu.
Watch smile it's much better than that crap.
where can i watch Citizen Joe 1970? Cant find it anywhere
>from a producer of It and an executive producer of The Ring and The Grudge
I can't even tell if this is supposed to be a joke or not
Just watched Hell House. That's the last time I let you frick talk me into a found footage film again. Mediocre as frick
I warned you it was underwhelming. Nowhere near my favorite FF. Should've watched something like Deadstream or REC.
just watched hell house too
it was a major let down
check out
Y'all need to get some better night's sleep before watching movies.
It was pretty good, aside from the fact they had to add a minority as the main character, nothing can be as shitty and boring as hereditary
>nothing can be as shitty and boring as hereditary
You haven't seen The Witch.
I haven't but if it's anything like hereditary I'm not going to watch it, I don't think I've seen a movie that was so over hyped and underwhelming ever
>if it's anything like hereditary
It is, part of the same """elevated horror""" wave of A24 drama-horrors.
You should all watch the Troma movie 'Terror Firmer'. It's got everything you need when you're fricked
Might watch this in a bit, been told it's kino.
i got recommended this on here months ago. it was pretty good. has a lot of 80s cheese but was entertaining enough.
Nice, about to put it on.
the opening scene is one of my all time favourites
they really don't make em like that anymore
It’s great. Road Games is another essential 80s Australian horror kino.
recent?
