It's not but now that you mention it it's kind of weird that Joan represents the 'annoying kid who gets deep into liberal politics' except it seems like 50% of zoomers are 'that annoying kid' now so I don't know how a show designed around the relatively less political atmosphere of the early 2000s will work.

While I'm glad they're thawing out the original characters, I still kinda liked the proposed idea (by some Anon from I don't know when) that the show starts off normally, with no references to the original show, same cast as before, but the season finale has the characters discovering their frozen original selves and that the entire reboot are actually clones of clones.
if the writers were smart they would just counter any criticism of Gandhi with some real Gandhi quots about Africans.

I was surprised to find out Clone High wasn't a Canadian show but it turns out the character designer for Total Drama worked on Clone High and was told by producer to rip off that art style when it came time for TDI.
Aziz Ansari would actually be a good fit for that role. Ghandi was kind of an annoying twerpy best friend character and that's pretty much Ansari's wheelhouse.
