Mulholland Drive is just a big mishmash of nonsense and doesn't actually have any deeper meaning. Best I can fathom is it's supposed to be a fever dream during a suicidal drug binge, and even that I'm unsure about.

David Lynch is moron who somehow convinced his fans he’s intelligent
Seething midwit
Lynch's work has nothing to do with "intelligence" it's about evoking different feelings. His movies are basically just moving paintings, and while paintings can sometimes tell a story usually it's much more about making you feel certain ways.
People who think he's trying to be deep or to convey some profound messages or ideas are fricking idiots.
Midwit take. Lynch’s oeuvre is coherent.
He doesn't say Lynch work is not coherent.
The point is Lynch tells coherent stories. His films are not just “le randumb moodz.” Lynch’s genius is that his work remains memorable even if the audience misses the plot. However, Lynch is telling a specific story even if you miss it.
2/10 bait made me respond albeit thoughever
>everything that indicts me is bait!
Imagine being a lynchtard child and living in a fantasy land like this. Fricking pseud.
Just because you and other Nolan autists have decided to thread his films into "the most logical plotline" is not relevant to me.
I like to remember things my own way, not necessarily the way it really happened.
>i GET IT guise!
>i GET IT!
I'm sure all your hipster friends on reddit are very impressed.
He is right though. Lynch is coherent. He's also an annoying redditor homosexual of the quirky kind
>elaborate.
>Nope xD
>uh wuh look @ me I have le panties in my le mouth xDD
>his mystic cult-like mumbo jumbo
Makes my eyes roll
>Midwit take.
I'm literally just repeating what Lynch himself has said, moron.
>Lynch’s oeuvre is coherent.
What does this even mean? There are both coherent things and incoherent things in most of his work, but that's irrelevant to my point. People think Lynch is trying to be "deep", he's not, he's just trying to make you feel things.
>I’m regurgitating what someone else told me
Yes a midwit.
> What does this even mean?
See
>le indictment
(You)
Yes, you are allowed to be a midwit.
Midwit.
>Doing anything other than explaining the movie.
Keep snitching on your baseless pretention.
>mass reply
VERY reddit.
you're either a bad troll or a reddit moron
Its just a puzzle box that's fun to piece together. Its meaningless but entertaining and well made, nothing wrong with that.
It's about a Lesbian struggling in Hollywood because she's a lesbian.
Yes. It's a wokeflick
Then why all the unrelated plot threads? What do jump scare goblins and tiny old people have to do with that? I'm pretty sure it's an emperor's new clothes kind of thing -- intentionally obtuse so anyone questioning it can be brushed off as uncultured.
>homeless israelite
Represents the rot and guilt in her soul from getting her friend killed that won’t ever go away.
>old people
Represents the expectations and hope other people had for her. She imagines they tricked her into coming to Hollywood to be successful when they knew she wouldn’t be, as shown here

It’s okay not to understand this film on the first watch anon.
No. Diane failed in Hollywood because she was a Midwestern blonde who wouldn’t sleep with ~~*Adam Kesher*~~.
Meanwhile, ¡La Camilla! is a Hollywood success because she bangs ~~*Adam*~~. Her lesbian past is irrelevant.
Lunch has always been based and redpilled.
Does it matter if it has a deeper meaning if it has so many great scenes? The diner, the failed assassination, the acting audition and Club Silencio are all top-tier, and they're all good in totally different ways and going for different moods.
I guess I can appreciate it if it's nothing more than a vibe, but other movies like that (e.g. Terry Gilliam, Cohens) managed to telegraph that without making me question my intelligence.
Both of them make movies with meaning
Gillam and Cohen's make very text based movies while Lynch is image based
Now did you forget pic related because you thought that’s what OP wanted to hear? Or did you forget it because you truly believed it wasn’t worth mentioning?
>imsh mmpphh tmm mmh amughmm hmmg MMMMhm. hmmg MMMMHM!!
The only reason I watched it is because it had Marilyn Manson in the soundtrack. Hated the movie and I don’t care to understand it.
There was no Marilyn Manson in this movie. You're thinking of Lost Highway.
Imagine knowing this. What a loser.
Lost Highway had a legendary soundtrack though.
>NIN - Perfect Drug
>Smashing Pumpkins - Eye
>Marilyn Manson - Apple of Sodom
it's crazy that these weren't saved for albums.
>But what does it mean. It doesn't make sense! Tell me what IT is. What's the IT supposed to be? I LITERALLY NEED AN IT. I HAVE NO SOUL, YOU HAVE TO TELL ME WHAT THE IT IS!!!
>IT'S GOOD BECAUSE..... IT'S JUST LE GOOD OKAY I DON'T HAVE TO KNOW WHAT IT MEANS
You saw the film with your eyes.
You heard the film with your ears.
What else was there to absorb?
This anxiety that there is a perfect puzzle to unlock, an "it" to get, comes from within you. It comes from a feeling of submission to the ideas of others.
Only when you free yourself from the submission to authority will you be able to simply take or leave art as you see it.
See
If I don't understand your movie, I'm going to assume it's incoherent trash. Full stop.
This is like saying you can't look at an abstract painting and enjoy it. Female hands wrote this.
ok reddit spacer
>Spit on a wall
>"That will be 5000 for my abstract painting."
If it's incoherent, it's incoherent. Same if you start speaking nonsense and expect me to figure out what you're trying to say.
Midwit.
Only the low IQ care about muh "ambiguousness". The real moneymakers only care about objective reality.
I don't like spit. I do like lesbians kissing, Angelo Badalamenti's music, and creepy jumpscares.
Even if you suffer from a Cinemaphilebrain these are 3 solid reasons to still watch this
>explain it to me
Midwit.
Midwit.
it's it
I bet you could find deep nuance in a random hash printed on a kaleidoscope. I bow to your unfathomable genius.
You seem frustrated knowing you will never be able to appreciate art for what is it, without lenghty videoessays explaining what kind of feelings you are supposed to feel
hehe
it's happening again
>just a big mishmash of nonsense and doesn't actually have any deeper meaning
Welcome to the wall spaghetti works of David Hackfraud Lynch (beloved by pseud redditors).
It's probably the easiest Lynch to interpret, it's embarrassing to read some of you homosexuals scratching your heads to even (try to) understand the most obvious stuff that isn't literally spelled out
Okay, spell it out. Tell me what I'm missing.
I really don't know how I can make it more obvious if you've actually watched it. But I'll try for you autismanon
>Blonde b***h is a talentless actress that failed to make it big in LA.
>Eventually falls in love with big booby successful actress who manages to give her some small roles in her plays
>big booby actress marries hotshot director
>blonde b***h is now double jealous of big booby actress
>hires someone to murder her
Most of the rest of the movie is a copedream/fantasy of how she tries to deal with the feelings of guilt out of which she inevitable wakes up from, faces the reality, and offs herself
>CMV
Lynch himself:
>It makes me uncomfortable to talk about meanings and things. It's better not to know so much about what things mean. Because the meaning, it's a very personal thing, and the meaning for me is different than the meaning for somebody else.
Cinemaphile autist
>I have figured out the exact meaning of Mullholland Drive and everyone else's interpretation is wrong.
Meaning ≠ plot
Midwit.
Lynch can't even explain what his own movies mean. Definite sign he's just throwing spaghetti at the wall.
OP here.
So far the tally is 50 replies, with maybe two people actually explaining their interpretation, and a dozen acting like they understand it without elaborating further.
What can we infer from this?
The main attempt at explaining Mullholland Drive as a normal film is that it's a fantasy inside "Betty's" head about what Hollywood would be like when she went there (all beauty and innocence etc.). The grimy scenes at the end are the reality, jerking off angrily on the couch and wanting to blow your brains out.
This is irrelevant to this discussion though.
It was already explained
Yokel girl wants to start a career in Hollywood, starts a romance with a bimbo, bimbo fricks a director and gets the role, leaves the yokel, invites her to her engagement party and humiliates her, yokel girl starts seething, hiers a hitman to whack the b***h (reality)
Weird scenes take place in her dreams and fantasies where everything bad that happened to her is explained, she's appreciated and the bimbo loves her. They make sense when you read it through that lens (hitman is a cold-blooded killer in reality, he's a buffoon in the dream. Why? Because Diane feels horrified about she's done but she can't stop him anymore, so she dreams about him being a clown that will likely fail anyway.) You can read some explanations on the net but it ruins the fun tbh, think about each scene you're confused about and think why did she dream about it and why did she dream it that way.
Today was the first time some 19yo hipster learned the term midwit.
The entire movie is explained during the club silencio scene.
If you have above 100 iq, a surface level viewing would reveal its about evil Hollywood israelites.
I only watch this movie to jerk off. The brunette has unbelievable breasts.
this isn't even an obtuse movie, Cinemaphile really is full of simpletons
When you remember the average Cinemaphile poster is a 15 year old Mexican it all makes sense
Chupa mi verga mamon
Andale cabron :VVV
thanks
That's the shallow reading. The actual reading of the meaning is far worse, because the meaning is
>what a unique and intense, glorious and catastrophic, shiny as a diamond and dark as tar
life in hollywood is, which is categorically always a bad thing to make a movie about.
