"Coding" isn't real, y'all just projecting

Every single discussion of "queercoding" depends on confirmation bias. Start with an assumption, and work backward from there. Ignore any examples that don't fit the narrative. Point to one that does, and go "Aha! This 100% confirms it!"

Y'all read too deep into things. Just because you're obsessed with "queerness" doesn't mean the whole world is. There's no "hidden meaning", it's just a cartoon.

Sodomy used to be considered depraved and villainous.

Sodomy used to be considered the proper way for a distinguished man to have sex (as long as he was penetrating), while a wife was just for procreation.

It still is, wtf are you on about

The cradle of western civilization considered sodomy between an older mentor and a young man one of the purest and most noble forms of human relationships.
No amount of whining will change this factual truth.

Nah even when it was something that happened it was always controversial. You always still had shit like laws making booty bandits not allowed in the ecclesia or bottoming being illegal for free men.

The villains aren't gay, they're based off Broadway performers, who are gay. The intent was to make them showy, entertaining and a delight to watch. They drop the gay act hard when they mean business though.

Jafar and Scar are just British.
Ratcliffe is highly effeminate and dresses kinda homosexual but from what I remember he's jjust y'know....vain and lazy while being an absurd exaggeration of contemporary fashion.
I mean we're living in the timeline where homosexuals see a robot stand in front of a pink and blue sign and think it means she's a troony, or Danny Phantom. How did that become a thing?

That's the beauty of "coding", you don't have to have proof because it's "subtext" and any contrary proof is because it's a "metaphor"

Excuse you, Radcliffe is dapper. He’s just a dandy from a different era. Everything is gay if it’s not stereotypical modern nene fashion to these people.

You understand coding doesn't mean "secretly they are in fact something else," right? It means they factually aren't that other thing.

Hence the "subtext" and "metaphor" bullshit.
Queercoding basically means "we want to pretend they're gay and know they're not" all these characters are just British, that's it. That's the coding.

It used to be considered hateful and homophobic to go "oh, that character is effeminate and lispy, that's so fricking homosexual, I bet he takes it up the ass" but now it's really progressive when I say it so I feel good now.

      (cont)
if the characters were actually gay, it wouldn't be "coding", the whole point of queer coding is that the character has traits and quirks that were associated with gayness at the time, this was historically done for any number of reasons either as a direct intentional way of alluding to the character as gay, or as a subtle way of having a villain feel unsettling to heterosexual viewers, or just plainly for the sake of a flamboyant character being entertaining as comic relief
