>main crew and cast want to do the sequels
>multiple sequels greenlit instantly
So why did the sequels never actually get made?
>b-but how abou-
Doesn’t count, not a sequel, not canon, book by a different author, nobody from the original involved.

Did the screenwriter come up with the final scene? It’s fantastic and I was surprised that it didn’t appear in the Swedish film (I haven’t read the book).

I've read the trilogy. That's how the dragon tatoo book ends. It's a great but sad ending.

Dragon Tattoo fincher version is one of my top 5 favourite films of all time. I'd give it a solid 8/10, great film.

          I'm a very harsh critic. Most movies are a 5 or 6.

That just means your 6s are 10s and you're just being a crybaby autist trying to be unique. You look stupid.

I don't think it did that well commercially.

It made a profit theatrically and did crazy numbers on VOD. Don’t underestimate how many boomers use VOD religiously.

I honesty don't know, but I thought I read that that was the reason they never followed up was that it didn't make the box office they were hoping for.

I wish the mystery was more interesting. Or, rather, had a more interesting unwinding.

It's an aesthetically-pleasing film, but the plot is a bore.

Wasn't it something really fricking laughable like with Nazis and israelites and whatever? The whole movie is Reddit anyway.

I'm against feminism and feminazis but Lisbeth was well written and was an actual strong female character written. She was also played well by Rooney Mara, more so than Noomi Rapace.

She was every woke stereotype rolled into one but because the movie is pre-2010 that doesn't register to you somehow.

The author himself is very clear on his political leanings and how that influences the stories he writes.

Cause Fincher is infamous for not being able to commit to anything. See Mindhunter & House of Cards for examples.

It was a tight budget to begin with and Daniel Craig got too big for them to afford. Sony was planning on doing a sequel without him and keeping Rooney Mara but the fourth book screwed up their plans to adapt the second and third into one movie. When they tried to get David Fincher back to direct it he was doing house of cards and said no to the sequel(s) but yes to a Netflix adaptation. Cant remember what made him pull out but that's where I think it all fell apart.

It was casting Craig that sunk the whole project. Guy is a cancer. First killed the biggest franchise of all time (Bond) and this beforehand.

He's been doing it since at least 2013 but possibly earlier. I wasn't here before that so I wouldn't know but I know his "tier" images.

That's the thing. Fine. He was there to capitalize on his newfound fame as ""Bond"" and that's it. I think there's a bunch of actors who'd do a far better job. It fricked up the movies too since he wanted out due to not enough shekels. I say recast but Fincher is an autist.

When the Sony had their internal film production emails leak a few years ago it was revealed that both Mara and Fincher were begging and pleading with Sony to make the sequels, but Amy Pascal and other morons at Sony blew them off and treated them like trash. In order to shower money on Adam Sandler and other drek.
