Am I the only one that thought young Harrison Ford looked fine? The only issue was the voice.

      Anonymous

I would describe young Harrison as jerky. You could tell there were brief moments where they took more effort, expecially on weird angles because they absolutely had to avoid it looking really bad, but they didn't put enough effort in other areas because he has almost a doll-like expression that looks copy-pasted. So one second it looks uncanny and the next is looks kind of ok.

Almost every remake and reboot pumped out now has the same “new character takes the mantle without having earned it and legacy character(s) are just there as tired decor” formula. Top Gun played so close to the original that it was actually new for a current reboot

It does come off as hypocritical after their complaints that Crusade is weak because it’s like Raiders, though.

      Crusade sucked

Dial didn’t feel like the same “we have a focus group saying we can sell more girl toys” energy from the SW sequels, it felt even more cynical with that Disney wanted to replace their aging star with one of the few young-ish but established celebs that would return their calls and do more.

Basically even more of a meandering and pointless reason to happen which fits the purposeless nature of this movie

They loved the ending even though for me that's where the movie completely fell apart. Ballistas shooting down an airplane? Indy being reduced to a mansel in distress with no agency? Indy being moronic and getting KO'd by a 90 pound woman in one punch?

Given that the force was a mystical unknown spiritual power that went through all life in the galaxy, it is so fricking stupid to attach a genxer to it. You didn't see Star Wars fans with The Force is for Guys shirts. Most fans welcomed any girls into Star Wars. And we had plenty of female heroines before Rey.

            Anonymous

Kathleen Kennedy loves to act like Star Wars was this regressive sexist dinosaur before she got to it even though it basically created the concept of the action movie heroine as we know it.

This is the story of judaic subversion of european pop culture in a nutshell.
Comics, sci fi shows, dungeons and dragons, etc. All need to be "fixed" for being regressive, sexist, outdated, etc.
Meanwhile these are the things that pushed society forward in terms of progressiveness. They tell the normalgays that "this is the first female/black/gay/etc hero/moviestar/captain/etc." And the normalgays believe them because they have no frame of reference as they spent their whole lives disregarding all this as "nerd shit for losers."

        Anonymous

Exactly. The entire review is them talking about how boring and lifeless the movie was, seems they were just glad to have something that didn’t make them feel like they were dead and didn’t know it

        Anonymous

I almost liked that scene but the physics of shooting down a plane with ballistas was infuriating because planes move so fast. That's like watching Indiana Jones catch a bullet with his bare hands level of preposterous.

The woke shit at the end absolutely ruined it for me. And it was woke, that's the only possible motivation for making Indy act so out of character and taking away all of his agency in how his own story wraps up. It's like if Henry Sr. knocked him out to stop him from trying to reach the grail in Last Crusade. There is no emotional payoff, we don't get to see Indy doing the right thing, it all felt so fricking phony and un-earned, and it was clearly only there as an indulgence for Kathleen Kennedy's ego. And I hope Disney crucifies her for the movie's box office returns.

          Anonymous

If you believe the pretty widespread rumors, he was supposed to stay in the past and die, so the breakneck change and a light punch knocking him out long enough to time travel, traverse 2 continents, and be patched up was to change that. It felt phony because it as an hour long tacked on change to a movie that didn’t need to exist to begin

Hollywood IS too generic and formulaic.
The old Indiana Jones film would be a breath of fresh air compared to the generic and formulaic shit of current year.
The formula of today is to take the old Indiana Jones and tear him down. You cannot have the original Indiana Jones films everyone loved. You can't have a beloved character doing what they did in the orignal films. You have to deconstruct him and have some new wave feminist mouth piece berate fans on why the old films were bad.

      Anonymous

Indiana Jones was a throwback to the adventure movie heroes George Lucas loved as a kid, and the Scrooge McDuck comic books he used to read. He wasn't taking the pulp serial hero and deconstructing him, he was elevating it and making it into something even better.

Nobody wanted a deconstruction of Indiana Jones. The whole point of Indiana Jones is that he's a romanticized adventure hero, and if you deconstruct him you're left with a shallow husk of an IP. And Disney is getting the box office they deserve after years of dodging their karma.

        >Nobody wanted a deconstruction of Indiana Jones.
Nobody wanted a deconstruction of Luke Skywalker either, but here we are.

Tbf you can deconstruct the hero where he's at the bottom, but later on during the movie reconstruct him and bring him back to his former glory by making him a legend at the end.

          Anonymous

And that's just the thing, the movie deconstructed Indy and let him go out on a pathetic whimper. The only redeeming moment is that his wife forgives him at the end, and it's Fleabag who actually calls her, not Indy.

How much left until KK is LITERALLY FIRED from Disney, Doomwiener?

It doesn't even matter, they are not going to let her make anything until she's gone even if it means years of no new content from Lucasfilm. In any case this is the end of her career as an executive producer at Lucasfilm even if it's not the end of her salaried position.

You can do a deconstruction and still have it be a fun movie. The good the bad and the ugly is basically a deconstruction of westerns but it's still a very fun western movie.

Mike: "People find fleabags character to be annoying. I don't. I guess some people don't like her for some reason though?"
Jay: "You're not supposed to like her, she's unlikable on purpose."
Mike: "Right, but she cares about her dad, that's why she wants the macguffin!"
Jay: "Forget about that, the movie does!"
Later they complain about how jokes revolving around how much better fleabag is than Indy don't land. They express confusion as to why the punchline of a joke being "Fleabag is the best ever!" is not funny.

I think the funniest thing is that they went out of their way to show they fricked up the sound on the original recording. Add that too the list of great cinematic achievment and excellence these guys exhibit when not critiquing cinematic achievement and excellence in others works.
