A few 1990 movies are like this. I still think of goodfellas as an 80s film
Meaning it was filmed in the 80's
And of course the year line is arbitrary, culturally the 80s bled into the early 90s, just like movies from 80-81 tend to be more 70's.
>Meaning it was filmed in the 80's
I don't think that's what people mean when they say this is an 80s film.
Doesn't really matter what you think about that.
>I don't think that's what people mean when they say this is an 80s film.
well these people are morons. the movie looks early 90s
>considered the first great film of the 21st century
>release date 20th May 2000
>the free to watch version on Prime is just the new movie but for some reason uses the pictures from the old movie.
>considered a classic, definitive 90s film
>release date: March 30, 1990
there was a 90s hangover as well up until 9/11 anyway
The actual 90s is only about late 1991 to early 1999.
maybe, but stuff like dude where's my car and osmosis jones feel like they belong culturally in the 90s to me. not to mention sequels to 90s franchises were still being made with the original casts, like american pie 2 and scream 3. some of those would have literally been filmed in the 90s too remember
>dude where's my car
That feels completely Y2k to me.
So it was made in the 80s. Got it.
Barely. Filming took place in April 1989.
>Summer 1990
>Friend works at kino theatre that his dad manages
>Getting complaints coming out of Total Recall
>Finally forced to go see what's up
>16 yo responsible for situation
>Finds a down syndrome couple having sex in the front row of the theatre
Total moron was born.
Nice.
>considered a definitive classic 80s film
i always considered it a classic 90s film
Wait that ain't a Piña Colada
The early 90s were an extension of the 80s, you'd know that if you were there.
i was there and it's not true
I love this kino. so many quotables
>see you at the party richard
>you'll crack the dome
>look who's talking
>two weeks
I remember watching this around 98-99 on the sci-fi channel and it felt like it was 20 years old at the time. TV channels did this all the time with 80s content when they were advertising them. They'd call them action classics or flashbacks or some other term to date them as being of an older era. Even though they were only about 10-15 years old.
Imagine if streaming services did that today with films released in the early 2010s.
They could get away with it back then because culture actually changed over time. Media these days is exactly the fricking same as it was 15 years ago.
>Media these days is exactly the fricking same as it was 15 years ago.
sopranos, true detective, early GoT, fargo s1, breaking bad, mad men, but today nothing
I agree that the feeling is similar but everything is just shittier and gayer
can you elaborate because that movie is not from the 90s. did you see the old spaghetti western 'django' and confuse them?
Can you learn to read and understand the English language before replying again?
It was definitely more common to pretend that stuff was older than it was in that time.
'Classic rock' already was huge, when the songs were sometimes not even 20 years old. 'Solid Gold Oldies' were 40 years old.
Today classic rock is 40 years old, and oldies are 60 years old. Stuff in the middle is just compressed and mixed in with modern music.
These days it is more common to pretend something is younger than it is.
Game of Thrones was 10 years old when it finished. People acted like it was still a new franchise.
The 80s ended when Smells Like Teen Spirit hit the top of the billboard charts in 1991.
What was the moment the 10s ended?
Footage on television of hospitals being rapidly built in China during the last days of 2019.
Oh yeah I vaguely remember that. Whatever happened there...
Stone > Heard
Who what
Sharon Stone > Amber Heard
Both blonde bombshell actresses considered the most beautiful woman in Hollywood during their prime.
Both known for having near geometrically perfect facial structure.
Both known for playing unhinged, overtly sexual roles.
Both known for having dramatic personal lives.
Sharon gave us better kino and kept her looks longer.
Stone work with /ourwop/ Scorcese.
For me, her best film is quick and the dead
The 90s begin on January 1, 1991 and end December 31, 2000
2000s culture was already going by mid-1999.
there is no year zero. 1990 is the 10th year of the 80's decade
then your definition of 90s is poorly chosen. the term itself clearly implies 90 to 99. just as teenager implies 13 to 19
What we think of as “the 90’s” was really just 1992-1997. Once 1998 hit it went back, paradoxically, to the 70’s
Technically every decade should start with the year one because there was no year zero
>Considered a definitive classic 90's film.
>It has Guns 'n Roses in it.
the 80s lasted until 1994, hth
it was filmed in mexico so it's actually 10 years behind.
a definitive classic 80s film
by morons
1990 was basically 1989 part 2
