What do you mean, a movie about people playing chess or one where one character is a bishop and moves slantways; another, a rook, moves straightways; bunch of pawns?
I think that'd be cool
seeing one guy run straight while his buddy runs diagonally and the guy on the horse cuts another guy's neck and swings around to take his place
unfortunately, fun as KG is at the club level you do _not_ want to use that in high level tournament play. it leads to a shootout and shootouts are dangerous; you want to play a safe positional opening so you can have the option of drawing.
I'm tired of GMs that just play for the draws. I'm tired of the agreed to draws after 25 moves. It is just so boring.
And no, I do think the KG can be competitive at the GM level. Just like "dubious" gambits such as the Smith-Morra.

that's the kind of post he'd pin to show he's above the haters. or as a dogwhilstle for his fans to dogpile on you. not sure which.
What? Like a biopic of the guys who intented Chess like Oppenheimer? Or a Rocky-like movie where a protagonist has to win a chess championship?
??
The latter could work but the former would put me to sleep in 18 seconds.
>e4 e4 openings are commonly called the Open Game, e4 followed by a reply other than e4 the Semi-Open Game, d4 d4 the Closed Game, and d4 followed by a reply other than d4 the Semi-Closed game. This is generally held because e4 openings are seen as leading to an open game with a lot of tactical combinations and exchanges of pieces in the opening and mid-game while d4 openings lead to a closed game where both players hide behind a pawn wall and attempt to develop a strong endgame. However, there is no iron rule here and it's entirely possible for e4 e4 openings to lead to a closed up positional game.[3]
Generally chess amateurs are advised to stick to e4 e4 openings and not try the Sicilian Defense or Indian Defenses; only high level players are up to them.
>Generally chess amateurs are advised to stick to e4 e4 openings
don't listen to this patzer. all noobs play e4. if you go d4 and learn even the most basic theory you're going to destroy
openings in high level chess enjoy fads. for example in the 1920s-30s d4 openings were popular, in the 50s-60s e4 was more popular, in the 70s-80s d4 was popular again, then e4 starting in the 90s, etc
>a black pawn struggles against white opposition and finally becomes the queen he was always meant to be
Racial and trans representation. It’ll win ten Oscars

Harry Potter 1
Its been done to death.
Chess has been obsolete since 1983.
i like battletech as much as the next guy, probably a lot more, but cmon.
having said that, id like a battletech series more than a chess movie
I used to play battletech on /tg/. Playing FFAs with THE CRAB was fun as hell. I should get back into that.
No, but an anime could
Sherlock Holmes game of shadows follows a vague chess game plot.
The game he's playing at the end is a Bent Larsen v Tigran Petrosian. It has a really pretty ending where Larsen does a great queen sac.

Larsen's sorry downfall was his addiction to King's Gambit and other such openings that are not suited for the grandmaster level.
>King's Gambit hater
Don't even pretend you're not. Larsen was a very strong player at his peak. The strongest non-Soviet once Fischer retired.

If you play 1. d4 you might as well wear women's underwear and chop your dick off, because you're not a man.

>The SECRET to Gain Chess ELO
What does Electric Light Orchestra have to do with this?
That bothers me so much because Elo doesn't actually stand for anything. It's a man's name.
Yugioh is literally chess but more complicated and you need way higher IQ to actually master it.

For example you'll never see GMs use stuff like the Center Game (1. e4 e5 2. d4 e5xd4)
Yes but let's have it be literal
People with the name Pawn who enjoy moving slowly and killing blacks in a diagonal fashion

Play Riichi Mahjong instead!
Bobby Fischer never played anything but 1. e4
