My brother had one major issue with StarCraft: Brood War lore and it was why the United Earth Directorate would have the same level of technological development as the Terran Dominion. Yea it doesn't really make sense if you think about it, because that everything else works. I would probably not want to kill off Overmind Number 2, I feel like killing him and the Cerebrates off in StarCraft really lost alot to the series.

The fact UED did not respond at all to the destruction of their Expedition Force was insane. They are facing a literal existential threat of not just the Zerg, but Protess as well. Did everyone forget Protess glassing all the human worlds into husks? The argument is literally "lol they far away".
The Terrans were literally descended from mutants and convicts that the UED hated so much that they blasted them into deep space. I don't think they really cared about Protoss glassing Terran worlds.

They were basically an expeditionary force with a few resources. That’s one the reasons you conscript Duran (and many other civilians) and steal all their battlecruisers on the dylarian shipyards mission. The low end tech they brought (medics , Goliaths and the valkyries) were enough to frick the Protoss, mengks and Kerrigan.

I had mentally checked out by the time I got to the third expansion. By that point no one cared anymore and most people had dispatched over to LoL. The story was so ludicrous and they ruined it by making Kerrigan this bossgirl chosen one bullshit.

What makes StarCraft lore good is the amount of backstabbing and double crossing and working with old enemies to fight new ones. It's very Napoleonic in that sense.

The Terran campaign of SC1 is probably the best written aspect of the Starcraft's story.

Warcraft movie wasnt that bad, but its too focused on lore dumping
Warcraft director should have watched Lord Of the Rings on repeat for 10 days straight before editing that movie, he didnt, so it failed to start a franchise.
While obviously not as bad as Starcraft 2, Brood War's story is also a piece of crap.
The original story was written by James Phinney and Metzen.
Before Brood War Phinney left Blizzard so Metzen took the reigns by himself so of course it went to shit

>koprulu sector has been quiet, TvZ wise, since brood war
>kerrigan has not been heard from or seen
>mengsk won the TvT hard, is grand emperor, controls everything terran wise
>the only resistance left is raynor's raiders, which have been reduced to only a few dozen troops
>raynor is hiding on mar sara, getting drunk and essentially hopeless
>in comes tychus, an old friend and convict who says he escaped from new folsom and wants to take down mengsk with jimmy
>jimmy has given up due to heavy losses
>at this time, zerg invade mar sara
>kerrigan is there, hunting jim raynor
>they narrowly escape with the help of matt horner and the hyperion
>jim raynor is shocked by into action, why was kerrigan there, was she looking to finish off her loose ends from brood war?
>while on the hyperion they check media broadcasts to find several planets being invaded by the zerg
>mengsk is caught off guard and loses many of these planets to the zerg
>terrans begin to question whether he can defend the sector or not
>in an attempt to quell doubt, he claims to have hunted down the last terran rebel, jim raynor
>tychus then puts a gun to jimmy's head and orders them to hyperjump to korhal where mengsk is expecting them
>turns out tychus was released from prison and promised his freedom in return for bringing jim raynor to korhal, alive
>horner obliged tychus against jim's demand to let him die and take out tychus
>at korhal, mengsk meets raynor and explains that they should work together to save koprulu from kerrigan
>he says kerrigan's brood has grown in size by the billions
>jimmy's morality kicks in and realizes, as much as he despises mengsk, kerrigan is the greater of two evils, and agrees to work together
>mengsk tasks him with retrieving a xelnaga artifact which his moebius division believes can be weaponized to destroy the queen of blades

>when jimmy arrives on the planet where the xelnaga artifact is being excavated, a fleet of protoss arrive, being lead by artanis
>artanis tells jimmy that the artifact cannot be given to a terran, and thought he holds respect for jimmy for fighting along side him and fenix in the past, artanis will not let him leave with the artifact
>they duke it out for awhile until kerrigan arrives with her brood
>kerrigan easily overpowers both the protoss and terran
>artanis is blinded by rage and orders the fleet to switch focus to kerrigan
>because of this, jimmy is able to finish the excavation and obtain the xelnaga artifact, then leave
>the outcome between kerrigan and artanis is unknown
>jimmy brings the artifact to the moebius foundation with his hyperion crew
>at the moebius foundation, he finds that mengsk isn't producing weapons, but bioweapons in the form of zerg and protoss hybrids
>the xelnaga artifact is believed to be the missing link in a successful fusion between the two species
>this pisses of jimmy as he believes this will only make the problem worse, creating a new threat that mengsk won't be able to control
>he tells this to mengsk on a video call, where mengsk thanks him for his cooperation but tells him he has no interest in jimmy's morality
>mengsk says he will do whatever it takes to keep korhal safe, even if it means creating a new monster
>dejected, jimmy leaves moebius on the hyperion
>while trying to come up with a plan of action, their battlecruiser hyperion is captured by several gigantic leviathan zerg ships
>kerrigan boards the hyperion with the zerg
>on sight, jimmy pulls out his weapon to shoot her, before a hydralisk destroys the weapon with acid
>she says she wants to make a deal with raynor
>infuriated, raynor says he would never trust her again after her previous betrayal
>kerrigan claims that mengsk is building a hybrid army to control not only the koprulu sector, but the entire known universe

It's kinda sad that SC is dead but looking at how shit it turned to be and how awful WC and OW are, it's for the best
i'd like to see one, but i fear that it'd just be a video adaptation of the games. the levels don't really transcribe well, movies have to focus on a handful of protagonists, not an entire war.
