Could Adventure Time have worked if it had taken a more serialized approach from the start or at least used TCW's structure of each season being composed of multipe story arcs?

Looking at how Midnight Gospel turned out, I don't think the outcome would have changed that much even if Pen was still in charge

This, oldATgays like to project this idea that Pen is exactly like them and hates how his show was "ruined" even though he clearly still likes how the show turned out and continues to work on the show even without being the showrunner as the voice of LSP.

Yeah he likes it so much he doesn't talk about it ever and shuts down all questions about it

Probably because people asking him annoying questions seeking some form of validation for their own opinions on the show comes off as annoying to him

Because it hasn't been his show since the fricking pilot, you people are moronic, I'd shut you out too.

        >this good show didnt appeal to normies hard enough
        >"that means it would've had shitty content regardless."
But normies are the ones that want hyper bland content. An extremely large example of what Normies love is the newest season of Rick and Morty. A good chunk of the humor that has no humor aspects are what they actually like. You should even view the videos where they discuss each scene. That gives you an extraordinarily large insight in how these people operate and how they view the world. And its arguably quite low quality in comparison to everything.

I'm referring to how people here tend to blame Muto for the change in Adventure Time's tone from just being wacky but fun cartoon nonsense to emotional existential wankery but AT's creator Pendelton Ward's other show Midnight Gospel has that same progression too (in just eight episodes no less) despite having nothing to do with Muto.

            >people want to derive more worth and value than just cartoon zaniness
Its almost like people who's value is derived from the content they produce, they tend to want to produce meaningful content that doesn't adhere to capitalistic tendencies because its ultimately admitting "this is my value. This is all that I have to offer."

(NTA) If I don't give a frick to what George Lucas thinks, why should I care about what Pen thinks of AT?

The show already worked the way it was

The show turned to shit because the writers were homosexuals who literally couldn't stop inserting their shitty hangups and issues into the writings
    >I was le dumped and got depressed...so now I have to make Finn get dumped and depressed too!

"Protagonist gets dumped and depressed" is a pretty common trope in fiction, even in cartoons. Regular Show literally did it at the same time.

Oh, because people sure loved that too.

And that is why Gumball is better than both of those shows

It’s funny how Finn/FP and Mordecai/Margaret both got sunk in the same month and year.

No, the whole appeal was starting as a random wacky naive kids show so the switcheroo has a contrast effect. Maybe if they planned out the serialization post -S3 it could work but that has the issue of not knowing if you'll be renewed or not.

Maybe, but the weird one-off episodes are some of the best. As great as the miniseries are you couldnt do episodes like what was missing or thank you if that was all the series was. Maybe you could do a balance, like one miniseries a season, but even then they'd feel less special.

Adventure Time worked fine, it just went on for more seasons than was healthy.
